Details

Home Description

Conveniently located one block from Main Street, this comfortable, four bedroom home was remodeled in 2013 and 2014. Comfortably sleeps seven people. Two 3/4 baths, one with a 5' walk-in shower. Gourmet kitchen has a breakfast bar, and is adjacent to the formal dining room. One bedroom is on the main floor, three are on the second floor. A stair glide lift is available for anyone with mobility issues, or for moving heavy luggage. There are 8 restaurants within easy walking distance, as well as shopping, ski museum, library and art center, and an award winning recreation path.

Having lived in this lovely resort town for most of my life, I have intimate knowledge of the best places to eat, drink, play, and explore. In addition to the activities listed, there are wonderful options out of Stowe, within a short drive, that many people enjoy: Shelburne Museum, Snowflake Bentley museum, unusual architecture, historic sites and much more.

Christmas Getaway

Myself and my 3 adult (20+something) children rented Mary's house for a Christmas getaway. It couldn't have been nicer! The house is warm and cozy, spacious and rooms for both TV watching and quiet time if you want to read. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything and everything you need. We did a combination of making food - eating in and also dining out. The house is so close to downtown Stowe that you can leave your car in the driveway and walk down Main Street for shopping and eating. It is set back enough so it is still very quiet. The only thing we heard was the church bells ringing for Christmas. Mary outlines everything for you when you get there, including suggested local restaurants for eating. This proved to be a good thing as most places were closed on Christmas, so we planned ahead and made reservations on Christmas Eve - at Harrison's Pub (definitely try it!) and had shopped for food to eat in on Christmas Day. Mary's hospitality is wonderful! We will return here in a heartbeat if we get back to Stowe.
