Details

Home Description

Contemporary Home, 2 Bedrooms+Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6), WIFI

Location: Between Killington and Okemo, Vermont, USA. (Boston 3 hours, NYC 5 hours, Woodstock 25 mins, Farm & Wilderness camps closeby). Superfast fiber optic internet.

A light filled mountain retreat overlooking pond on 22 acres. Very comfortable for 2 couples or a family, can accommodate more. Located in historic Plymouth, birthplace and resting place of President Calvin Coolidge.

Enjoy skiing/sledding in Winter, listening to peepers in Spring, hiking in Summer, beautiful colors in Fall. Gather round the firepit at night and watch the stars come out or stay in by the fireplace.

In Winter Plymouth is a great ski location - minutes from Okemo and Killington. It's 3.5 hour drive from CT, 3 hours from Boston making it perfect for a weekend skiing. You can choose to ski at Killington, the Beast of the East, or the more family friendly Okemo resort. It's a 20 minute drive to Killington Skyeship or Okemo Jackson Gore. Snowmobiling and VAST trails are on the doorstep. The house sits on a great hill for tobogganing.

We love listening to the peepers in the spring.

In summer it is a great escape with the charming town of Woodstock just 25 minutes away and 10 minutes to Farm & Wilderness. Hunt for berries on the property: blackberry, wild strawberry and mountain blueberry. Explore Plymouth and get a glimpse of Vermont as it used to be in Coolidge's time. Pan for gold down the hill at Plymouth Five Corners, once the site of a thriving town during the gold rush but now taken back by nature.  There is unlimited hiking, biking and VAST trails on the doorstep.

Great food and restaurants are close at hand: local organic produce most of the year, artisanal cheeses, local beers...even local wine.

The house is well maintained, with quality furniture, superfast WIFI, and a spectacular open plan living/kitchen/dining area on the second floor. There is a central wood burning fireplace and lots of windows with views over the mountains and into the woods. Glass doors lead onto the deck and an outdoor barbecue. The deck is a seating/dining area in the summer months. On the same level there is a separate second lounge/ den/ office area with large windows and views and an adjacent shower room. This room has a queen sofa bed that converts to queen bed and two of the living room sofas convert to single beds.

The two bedrooms are on the first floor. The master bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom en suite. The second bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom a few feet down the hall. The laundry room is on this level.

The attached garage is a real plus in Winter. No clearing snow off the car in the morning, drive straight in walk into the house in the evening. NB YOU NEED 4 WHEEL DRIVE TO ACCESS THE PROPERTY IN THE WINTER. The driveway and the road to the house are steep. The road and driveway are plowed but especially during a storm you will need 4 wheel drive.

The house is supplied with organic linens for the beds and bathroom, paper products, cleaning supplies, and toiletries.

A mile off the beaten track and set in 22 acres of yard and forest this modern contemporary home allows comfortable, easy living for a family or group in a light filled space. We don’t allow pets in this house.

Wonderful house, in an ideal location

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in this house with our 6 month old baby. It was very comfortable and we had everything we needed to cook and relax. It was a great location for exploring the area and getting to the ski resorts. The owners made sure that everything about the house was very clear and were very responsive to questions. Highly recommended.

Excellent home for family get away

My family- 2 adults and 2 boys- stayed in this home for 2 weeks in the summer. It was really a home away from home. It is clean and has all the things you could need. The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of towels and good linens. The owner was easy to work with and helpful. She left us nice treats for our arrival. I would recommend it for a stay in the area. Its very convenient if you happen to have kids going to a farm and wilderness camp.

Fantastic weekend at Plymouth Retreat!

We had a wonderful 3 day weekend at the Plymouth Retreat. The house was very nicely set up and decorated and very comfortable for our family of 4. I enjoyed cooking meals in the beautiful open kitchen, and our kids (ages 7 & 9) enjoyed playing games and watching tv in front of the fireplace after a day of skiing at Okemo. The house is very conveniently located to the mountain, and it was easy to get back and forth. The owner left excellent detailed instructions about how to use everything in the house so we had no questions or concerns once we were there.
