Home Description
Enjoy this sunny, private historic apartment, close to VCFA, a 10 min. walk downtown & central to VT's many outdoor and tourist destinations and sites - Worcester Mountain range and Camel's Hump state park, Sugarbush & Warren/Waitsfield, Waterbury & Stowe, Burlington and Lake Champlain, historic Woodstock, and college town Hanover are all 20-50 minutes' drive. Visit our nation's smallest capital and enjoy charming shops, live music, great food and local brews...or never leave the backyard view!
This apartment is a little home within a home in a fun, historic house, which dates back to the early 1860's. It was part of the Sloan Hospital, a Civil War Infirmary, a Methodist Seminary, and sold and rolled down the street to its present location! Everything is modernized, but the historic charm remains. The apartment is spacious and furnished with nice antiques from Asian countries as I have a passion for Asian Art.
We invite you to enjoy the view in our quiet back yard, looking out over the valley and capitol building with Camel's Hump beyond. It is truly breathtaking!
We love to provide autonomy to our guests, but are very happy to give advice too and assistance during times of need.
This is an very quiet neighborhood in the nicest best part of town.
There is a city bus which stops right in front of the house, or you are able to walk downtown in 10 minutes.
We have many things to loan - kayaks in the summer and snowshoes in the winter...or just about anything you have forgotten, since this is a family home. We have lots of extra jackets and snow pants, you name it.
You are welcome to enjoy a cocktail or have a barbecue in the back yard, just let us know your plans in advance so we can coordinate with our other guests. There are 3 total apartments in the building, so we all share. I will message you about how to find your keys and directions to the home once you have booked.
Someone is always here to offer help or suggestions, so no worries.
Montpelier is a great destination in and of itself. There is everything right here. Our house is on one of the nicest streets in town. Just 8 buildings away is VCFA and the Vermont College Green. NECI cafeteria is located on the campus, and it is fun to eat there sometimes and very close by. The views on the street are beautiful as we are up on a hill. There is a pasture called Sabins Pasture where you can hike to see the sunset, and an old slate quarry.
There is a city bus which stops right in front of the house, but downtown is just a ten minute walk away, so it is really not needed. We have a stroller for you to borrow if needed. Biking is huge in Vermont as well!
It is important to consider others when staying here as this is an older home and sound travels. The neighborhood is very quiet and neighbors are close by. The backyard is a little paradise, with a country feel while you are right in the city.
The apartments are very close to VCFA and this rental is perfect for residency programs.
