Family reunion at Taconic Mansion
We recently had a family reunion to celebrate the 100th anniversary of my mother's birthday. The gathering included children, grand-children, great-grands, and some close family friends; 14 adults and 3 children in total. Melissa showed us other properties, but we selected Taconic Mansion and had a truly memorable weekend. The house offered room and privacy for multiple family groups and young children. We enjoyed a catered dinner in the formal dining room, as well as more casual meals, barbecue, and smores at the fire pit. The house included every amenity necessary and Melissa was an exceptional hostess offering us every consideration to create a memorable family event. We can offer the highest recommendation of Taconic Mansion for weddings or events such as ours.

Dream Wedding Location!
This review is long overdue - My family of 19 from Texas and Wisconsin stayed at the Taconic Mansion for my husband's and my wedding in March. With half of the family never having been to Vermont, we wanted this to be a weekend to remember and boy, was it! We had been communicating with Melissa solely over internet and phone and we knew the first time we spoke to her that we were going to have the best experience. She was incredibly prompt with her email responses, gave great vendor suggestions, and was always available to answer my endless questions. When we arrived at the house, our entire family was stunned. The kids couldn't stop running around screaming at how incredible the house was and the adults were in awe of its charm and pure beauty. Our wedding took place in Bennington, but our reception was at the Mansion. It was everything we dreamed of - laid back, charming, comfy - it really felt like home. Not to mention, the food catered from Wilburton Inn was EXCEPTIONAL!! Being from out of town, we did not have an opportunity to taste the food prior to ordering but can you imagine our surprise when everyone was obsessed with every dish Melissa brought. Absolutely delicious- I can't say enough about how delicious it was. Half my family was back in the kitchen at midnight reheating the mac and cheese. I even caught the little ones in the morning eating cold, leftover chicken - they couldn't get enough. We also rented out the Carriage House for the night and the boys had more fun in there - they thoroughly enjoyed the full bar and the huge TV for watching sports. There is a downstairs area with games for the kids, even though they ended up just running in circles after eating all that cake :) The Mansion was a blast for everyone - from the 6 year olds to my 82 year old grandparents. Each person had his/her own favorite part of the house! All in all - Melissa and her team truly gave us more than dreamed of. It's been 6 weeks and my family is still talking about how incredible their Vermont weekend at the Mansion was.

Fantastic Spot for a Retreat
I produced a wellness retreat at the Taconic Mansion and it went swimmingly. The accommodations are beautiful, the carriage house is perfect for yoga classes, the food from Earth Sky Time was a big hit, and Melissa was a dream to work with. She prepared everything so beautifully for us. 5 stars + 5 more for good measure.

Perfect location for 30th birthday surprise!
A group of close friends and I recently arranged a surprise 30th birthday celebration for my wife up in Manchester, VT. My wife and I, along with the 12 other guests, spent the long MLK weekend at this beautiful property and could not have been more pleased. The space is ideal for entertaining as much of the ground floor is very open and there is more than enough room for everyone to comfortably enjoy themselves. The house itself, is magnificent both inside and out - quintessential New England beauty. Even though it was the middle of winter, we were still able to enjoy the beautiful wrap around porches, and inside, the fireplaces and intimate atmosphere made it an ideal location for a large group to bunker down and enjoy a winter weekend. We also made a day trip to Stratton to go skiing, and this was a very easy drive. The village of Manchester is also a wonderful place to visit - and if outlet shopping interests you, that's right there as well! I also found the innkeeper was very helpful and was more than willing to help make the surprise weekend a special one - thanks!

The 25 room Taconic Mansion is a magnificent 9,000 sq foot historic four-story home with a 1000’ wrap around veranda and the ultimate 'Man Cave' party space in the Carriage House “Speakeasy.” Abraham Lincoln’s son, Robert Todd Lincoln, lived here in 1903 + 1904 while he built Hildene. The Heinz family summered here as well in the grand victorian style.
This phenomenal home is ideal for upscale family reunions, writers retreats, yoga retreats, girls weekends and elegant milestone celebrations.
The mansion includes a formal living room with a fireplace, a wood paneled formal dining room, 2 grand sun rooms for writing, reading, and naps. 11 bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms. A three story grand maple stair case. Huge eat in Kitchen with 2 dishwashers, 2 ovens, and subzero fridge. Flat screen TVs, stereo, games, propane fireplaces. Butlers Pantry. There’s even a large sauna in the basement!
Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool and tennis court 1 mile away at the Wilburton Inn.
For an additional $500/night enjoy the Carriage House aka: "The Speakeasy," an incredible party space for adults and children. The upstairs space features a wooden bar (the wood was used in Lincoln’s original carriage house stalls!) huge flat screen TV, stereo, electric darts, old time pop corn maker, games, videos. It's the ultimate hang out space for birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, and hanging out in style.
In Fall 2016, we will introduce a new Yoga Studio on the ground floor of the Carriage House.
The Taconic Mansion is walking distance to the Equinox Resort, Reluctant Panther, Taconic Hotel, and Inn at Manchester. Stroll the marble lined sidewalks past the gracious mansions and enjoy the very best neighborhood in charming Manchester Vermont.
