Minimum StayWhat a great relaxing getaway!
I can not possibly be more thrilled with our stay. We found the house perfectly accommodating with all the right touches of home. Our family of 7 had plenty of room to stretch out and relax. We honesty couldn't think of a single item that wasn't already stocked within the house. Did I mention right on the beach? Just a short walk down the beautiful wooded deck complete with a great gazebo for catching a little shade during the day and great views of the water in the evenings. When the sun got to be too much for our 10 month old we simply walked him back to the beach house where we could still watch the older kids enjoy the water and sand without having to rustle everybody back into the truck. The owner was incredibly accommodating and always a phone call away, you can really tell she is fully vested in your family having the best possible getaway. My girls spent the majority of their beach time surfing on the provided body boards, and had a blast playing in the waves. It was such a relaxing and trouble free experience that we will definitely be back soon!

Week long relaxation!
This house is just perfect--Just a short walk to beach. No need to bring coolers--easy stroll back to house. Beds very comfortable--A great view every morning and every evening with the moonlight reflecting on the ocean. Nice place for children or three separate couples. Fantastic kitchen! Netflix! So clean, tastefully decorated, and maintained. AC works great! (Texas heat can be daunting) I really could not praise it enough. Barbara the owner is so sweet and competent--a true joy with whom to work.

It was a beautiful beach house.
The owners made it very easy for us to find the house with great directions and many insights to what there was to expect. We felt right at home. The walkway that leads from the house right to the beach was amazing. Our most favorite part was waking up to the beautiful sunrises every morning. We will definitely be staying here again. Loved it.

Wonderful spot for a family gathering
There is not much to add to the great reviews the house already has, but I wanted to add my very positive thoughts. The home is spacious, comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. The views are wonderful. There is a 'nook' bedroom for a child under the stairs which my son LOVED (you can see it in the photos). The BEST part of the home, aside from the fantastic kitchen which others have described, is the 'pergola' which is a covered seating area near the end of the walkway to the beach - big enough for 6 or 8 people. In the late afternoons, it was quite shady and a great way to enjoy the views and (strong) ocean breeze without having to get sandy all over again!!! It was a huge hit with our family - there is even sound out there so just hook up your iPhone inside and listen to your music out there. It is also lit if you want to sit out there at night. So pleasant! The (minor) negatives: the home is showing some wear and tear, but that is to be expected in a busy rental home and in no way detracts from your experience. We were surprised when we arrived (for a holiday weekend) and the beach in front of the home was stuffed to the gills with cars and people! However, that was only for the weekend and it was practically deserted the rest of the time. So just be prepared for that if you are coming during a busy time. I would not hesitate to recommend this home. The owner was very nice and helpful throughout the process. We will definitely rent it again.

Welcome to our beachfront home, the Bluewater Star, located in the sleepy town of Surfside Beach about 40-minutes southwest of Galveston. Our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home sits in the dunes on a private half-acre lot away only footsteps away from the beach. Decks surround three sides of the house and each bedroom opens up to a deck, giving everyone lots of elbow room and plenty of ocean views. A private walkway leads you from the back deck straight over the dunes to the beach.
Surfside Beach is where people go when they want to get away from the crowds, the noise and hustle and bustle of every day life, and focus on enjoying nature in all its splendor. While we do have neighbors, the area is quite remote, only one road goes past our home and the nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away. Dolphins are common sightings as are pelicans, crabs and all sorts of other creatures living in their natural habitat. And at night you will be amazed by the numbers of stars you can see.
Even though the location is remote, our home is very well appointed with all the necessities and luxuries of everyday life including high speed internet, cable tv with tons of channels, netflix and 5 tvs throughout the house. The owner of the house is a restaurant manager who loves to cook for family and friends and he understands that to entertain properly one must have a great kitchen. Restaurant quality cookware, bar ware, blenders, mixers utensils and beautiful platters, bowls and tableware make meal preparation and entertaining wonderfully easy and best of all fun.
Because the owners love to entertain, they made the kitchen, bar and living room the focal point of the home. A soaring ceiling and two-story wall of windows gives you views of the ocean from anywhere in the house.
Two of the four bedrooms are masters, each with a king bed, private bathroom and crib. One of the masters is on the main floor and the other master (along with the other two bedrooms) are upstairs. The third bedroom has 2 queen beds and the fourth bedroom has two sets of bunkbeds. The bottom bunk on one side is a double. These last two bedrooms share share a bathroom. Another half bath is located on the main floor next to to the laundry room.
Across the street is a pier for crabbing, and fishing is everywhere. You can fish in the surf, in the bay, off a pier or deep sea with a charter boat. If you want someone else to catch your fish, just run over to the nearby seafood market for the catch of the day. If you don't feel like cooking, there are several wonderful one-of-a kind restaurants nearby.
Galveston, with its historic homes and local entertainment, is an easy and scenic 1/2-hour drive up the coast.
Even though summer is the most popular time of the year, the off season is a great time of year to come to the beach too. Beaches are empty, lodging is less expensive and days are typically sunny and warm enough that you can still dip your toes in the ocean. Nights may have a bit of chill in the air which is fun for bonfires on the beach. December is the time for family get-togethers and holiday celebrations and we like to celebrate too with a Christmas tree and festive holiday touches.
January and February are really the only months that are cold but even so, it's cozy inside where you can enjoy the view of the ocean from the comfort of the sofa next to a real woodburning fireplace. Relax and unwind with a good book and retreat from the world. Or bundle up and take a solitary walk on the beach where the only sounds are the waves and seagulls. Take a jog, explore the beach and work up an appetite so that when you get back you'll be ready to browse the internet or look through our cookbooks for inspiration and teach yourself how to make hearty dishes like cioppino, paella, stews, chilis and chowders. Recipes that take more time and patience than you usually have provide a very pleasant way to reconnect with family and friends.
Weekly rentals are 7 nights and are available year round. During the summer we only offer full week stays that go from Friday to Friday but off-season, we offer shorter stays with 3 nights being the minimum. Holidays are only offered for a full weeks stay and there is an extra charge for those stays. Prices on this site are strictly for family rental.
Weekend stays are from Thursday to Sunday or Friday to Monday. Check in is at 4pm and checkout is 11am. These times are sometimes flexible, depending on whether the house is rented before and after you. During peak season, weekend rentals will only be available as last minute bookings.
Well-behaved, short-haired dogs 40-lbs and under are accepted conditionally with prior approval and payment of $125 non-refundable fee per pet, two pets max. No puppies under a year of age please.
