Perfect Family Getaway!
We loved the Morning Star Vacation Home. The layout was perfect for our 3 families who celebrated a 40th birthday, MLKJ weekend. The loft and the basement were perfect for the kids to escape to as the adults mainly stayed on the main floor. The house was equipped with everything we needed! The kids also enjoyed the property with a tree house and a short hike to a frozen pond behind the house. The deck was spacious with mountain views. The fireplace created the perfect ambience for a ski house weekend and kept the living room warm and cozy. We loved that the firewood was stocked and ready to go. We all skied on Saturday at Windham and drove a short 7 minutes to the house after skiing. The house was everything we hoped for and more!! We would definitely love to come back another weekend in the future.

Great place for a long weekend
Eleven friends and I (all 5 years out of college) got together for Labor Day weekend at the Morning Star Vacation Home. It was a fantastic destination for us, equipped with everything from a poker table to a large backyard for all sorts of yard games. The property is excellently maintained and has all the amenities described in the posting. We were also able to connect an Xbox to the large basement TV and play video games. Finally, the surrounding area is beautiful and well worth the drive from Boston/NYC/DC (where we came from). The only con is a rule where we were allowed to leave just a single trash bag when departing from the property. There's a waste transfer station nearby that takes the trash, but it was closed because of the Labor Day holiday. This was a bit annoying and something to watch out for if you'll be leaving on a holiday. Overall though, would definitely recommend to friends and family, and would certainly stay again if the opportunity arises.

Great Windham Stay
We had a wonderful time in this home. Owner was amazing since this was a last minute booking. House skept all 6 of us confortably without us using the loft area or the basement/ganeroom. Loved having everything labeled so i didn't have to spend time searching for stuff. You won't go wrong here. We hope to be back in the winter.

Welcome to Morning Star Vacation Home in Windham NY.
We are Nestled in the heart of the Northern Catskill Mountains, this beautiful chalet home will enchant you with its peaceful charm.
It is perfect for a weekend getaway with kids, a special engagement, a family reunion, a skiing adventure, a Golf outing with friends and family or a relaxing retreat.
Morning Star is a hidden getaway just two miles from the Windham Mountain family ski area and the spectacular Windham Country Club’s championship 18-hole golf course. From winter to summer, fall to spring, Windham awaits you with year-round activities including: hiking, skiing, golfing, biking, snowmobiling and horseback riding.
Scenic views stretch in every direction from the house’s back porch. Cook up some cheeseburgers on the grill! During hunting season, sportsmen can find deer, wild turkeys and other game abound. The endearing town of Windham is a haven for fine dining, lively bars, community festivals, church socials, movie theatres, and fine art galleries. For world class skiing, test your skills at the more challenging Hunter Mountain or enjoy the family-orientated slopes of Windham Mountain. Both are just mere miles away.
Morning Star is the perfect retreat after a grueling day on the slopes, an early morning hike at Kaaterskill Falls or a day exploring the jewels of Windham. Guests love to get cozy with a book by the house’s blazing fireplace. Enjoy the game room’s ping pong table, foosball table, dart board and table games (including a large collection of Legos and Barbie playsets for the kids).
The living room’s comfy overstuffed couches and rustic decorations create the perfect mountain retreat atmosphere. The kitchen is outfitted with all the necessities and more. Central air-conditioning keeps the house cool through summer months.
The home includes three separate bedrooms and a large loft with four couches that convert into beds. Young and old especially enjoy the loft as a cozy hideaway – some of our guests refer to it as “the man cave.” It is tastefully decorated with vintage skis and beautiful local photography. Morning Star comfortably accommodates 10 to 14 guests. There is plenty of parking along the gravel driveway.
Every need is provided for. A professional cleaning staff will prepare the house for your arrival, including setting the thermostat so a comfortable atmosphere is ready for you. The house is meticulously outfitted with every convenience: from a stock of tea and coffee, plenty of fresh towels, firewood, and more.
During your stay, we recommend a morning trip to the Windham Country Store in town; enjoy freshly made donuts that are delicious enough to write home about. Be sure to include the Windham walking path for a relaxing afternoon stroll. During the winter months, be sure to go tubing at Windham’s Mountain’s icy slopes for wind-whipping fun. And after a long day enjoying all that the Catskill Mountains have to offer, Morning Star awaits you – enjoy a warm bath, some hot chocolate, and maybe a ping-pong tournament with friends before slipping into bed for the next day’s adventures.
Your perfect vacation home is waiting for you.
