Vintage Chic...Vintage Charm
We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay at Vintage Chic in Schnectady, NY. We were in town for a family wedding and needed a large place for three generations. The rooms were quaint and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. The baths beautifully remodeled. All bedrooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors so stair climbing is necessary. There is a small back yard for relaxing with coffee in the morning. Look for Jeffrey the Cat who good with children. The property is located in "The Stockade" and in close walking distance to State St with it's numerous restaurants and bars. This appealed to the 30/40 year olds who partied downtown after the wedding. The real charm at Vintage Chic is owner Donna Thomas. She and her husband, Chris, live on site. She provided a delightful light breakfast station every morning with coffee, fruit, bagels, toast and cereal. It was enough to get the day started without being heavy. We needed ideas for activities for the grandchildren and she called her friends. Donna gave us recommendations for and directions to the downtown restaurants. Although we had several family functions during our stay we did enjoy Jumpin' Jacks by the river for hamburgers (best onion rings ever!), Wolf's Biergarten for beer and pub food (be sure and get the boot of beer), Van Dyck Lounge (home of the Mad Jack Brewery) and Glen Sanders Mansion for fine dining. For the kids the miSci Museum is a hands-on Exploratorium even a 2 year old enjoyed. There are numerous parks and a public swimming pool too. I highly recommend Vintage Chic and will stay there again when visiting friends in Schnectady, NY.
