I love this place and have visited three or four times for a month each visit. I rented a cottage right on the ocean. The place was clean and well maintained. Kathy and Jay, the owners, were very helpful. I plan on returning.

Great Location on the Quiet Side of MDI
We’ve been visiting Pine Lodge cottage for at least five years. We’ve never been disappointed since the proprietors, Kathy and Jay, take great care of the cottages and leave us to ourselves save only the few times we’ve needed to ask for something — usually a replaced lightbulb or something. Over the years, they have made many improvements. Seaside Cottages are the cleanest we have seen on the island. Seaside Cottages are on the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island, with easy access to town life and markets (Southwest Harbor), lobster (Thurston’s in Bass Harbor), pizza and sandwiches (Salt Meadow Farm), and great restaurants (e.g. in Southwest Harbor). And of course, there is terrific fresh water swimming, hiking, beach wandering and simple walking all over the island. I like waking in the morning, making a pot of coffee, checking my email (that’s optional but the wifi is good), and reading books while I gaze out at a wonderful view over Blue Hill Bay. Afternoons are for hiking. The Shields have provided great kitchen facilities and an inviting dining room table for entertaining other couples if one wants. And, of course, there is the deck for late afternoon drinks. I love this spot. We'll be there again this next summer.

Exactly what we Expected! A+++++
When the description states this is "Ocean Front"...that is so true, 30 feet from the deck, the "yard" drops off down the rocky coast to the Ocean! To wake up to this view everyday took our breath away. This cabin is stocked with necessities. And if you want them, your linens can be included, too. We used the heater everyday, and loved the gas stove in the living room in the evenings while reading and relaxing. Having Wi-Fi available was a plus, because the only service available on this point is AT&T. You have to drive up to Southwest Harbor, about 15 minutes, to get Verizon or other services. The Kitchen has what you need to create a nice dinner, and set a pretty table. The coffee maker makes it easy to rise in the morning and just look out over the ocean while having that first cup! We were just minutes away from everything, but loved coming back to our cozy quarters in the evenings. The owners are very kind, and straight-forward. I am disabled, and use a rollator/walker, and sometimes a wheelchair. I loved the easy entry ... only 2 steps to get into the cabin. The parking is on gravel by the island side deck. The deck has the two steps up from the gravel to the entry height. The deck also hosts a grill and Charcoal bricks for cooking. We did eat a few meals in, mostly breakfasts. We loved tasting the local cuisine, and the price for lobster, crab and seafood made eating out so possible! Cleaning before we left was easy, because all the materials needed were supplied. We will treasure these memories of our week vacation on Mount Desert Island forever. This cabin has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed (very comfy) and the other with two twin beds... also comfy. Dressers and closets are available for your use during your stay. While there is no laundry facilities, there is a folding drying rack, so some hand laundry can be done and left to dry. Gott's Store, a local grocery, carries everything you'll need and only 10 minutes from the cabin. If you want a Walmart, one is located in Ellsworth, only 45 minutes away. One suggestion... arrive in the daytime... it is VERY dark, and few street lights are around. Finding Seaside Cottages in the dark is near impossible. We were so thankful for cell phone coverage, and for Kathy's patience while we inched our way toward the resort so late at night.

Pinelodge Cottage is a waterfront cottage with two bedrooms, living room/dining area, full kitchen and full bath. One bedroom has a queen size bed while the other has two twins. Step through the sliding glass doors in living room on to a large deck with comfortable seating and a spectacular view of Blue Hill Bay.
We own seven acres of land and 500 feet of bold granite and stone beach shoreline with a southwesterly exposure on Blue Hill Bay in the coastal village of West Tremont. Our location is exceptionally private, decidedly un-commercial, and yet convenient to the facilities of the surrounding towns including Bar Harbor. While we enjoy living in the relative quiet of the western side of Mt. Desert, the amenities of Acadia National Park are nearly at our back door.
PRICE VARIES depending on when you come. You can enjoy an off-off season rate of $900.00/week or if you want to come in high season the rate is $2,100.00/week. Check rate sheet for more details. You will find that our rates are competitive and our setting incomparable.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
1) We rent Pinelodge Cottage by the week, SATURDAY to SATURDAY.
2) A deposit is required within 7 days to hold your reservation. Refund of deposits can only be made if we are successful in re-renting the entire period. The balance including Maine State Sales Tax will be due upon arrival.
3) We enjoy pets enormously, but have found that pets are frequently unhappy in unfamiliar surroundings. We do have returning tenants who have allergies too. We regrettably have concluded that we can not accommodate any pets.
4) Our housekeeping cottage is now smoke-free. Smoking is not permitted inside at any time.
5) We do limit the number of people to four, including infants, no exceptions, please
6) Pillows and blankets are amply provided but we do ask tenants to bring their own sheets and towels. If you can not do so, there is an additional $50.00 fee for us to supply them.
7) Our cancellation policy is that we will refund the deposit if we are successful in re-renting the cottage.
About The Area
We are located on the western side of Mount Desert Island. Acadia National Park actually takes up about 50% of this island. Check a google map. All the green shaded area is Acadia National Park. You can see that you can get to parts of the park with 10 minutes or to Bar Harbor in about 30 minutes. You can hike the mountains, or walk the trails and bIcycle or walk the carriage paths. Kayaking in Echo Lake or Long Pond is especially enjoyable. I love swimming in Echo Lake and Long Pond. You will be amazed how much you feel revived and renewed. For the brave hearted (like my grandchildren) swimming at Sands Beach is a lot of fun. Taking a boat ride to the one of the islands is a must. To be out on the ocean and relaxing and breathing in the salty air and beautiful sites is certainly should be on your "to do list".
Many years ago, when my daughter was about five years old, we were coming on to MDI in the beginning of January on a very cold morning. She said to me "Mommy, Mommy, I just found out what heaven is like". Yes, it was an absolutely beautiful day and the sea smoke and blue skies were the perfect combination. I agreed with her and I am sure you will too. Yes, you will find the same beauty and peace when you come to visit Mount Desert Island/Acadia National Park. Come stay with us.
