The old boat house is now the family cabin.
Castine and the surrounding area is steeped in history. The village is a perfect New England village featuring a working harbor, a restored lighthouse, a natural history museum, the oldest continually running post office in the country, along with countless other attractions.

From fine dining to the best Lobster rolls around you can find it all in the village. From sailing in the bay to laying on Back Shore Beach to visiting the many revolutionary forts, you will be kept busy.

Mount Desert Island is only an hour away and the beauty of Acadia National Park and the honky-tonk village of Bar Harbor and all the tourist shopping you will ever want.

A little closer -- and in a world all their own -- are Deer Isle and the beautiful village of Stonington. Just off shore is Isle au Haute, and another section of Acadia National Park. It is accessible only by Mail boat twice each day.

The Honeymoon Cottage is a great centrally-located spot to venture from and, just as important, a great place to rest and relax in and around nature!

We had a great time in Maine!

First of all, Paul was a fantastic host. Even though we arrrived quite late at night, he was there to greet us and even had the lights on to make sure we found the right spot. His home had everything we needed for our trip. Plenty of room and well stocked. He even had extra firewood delivered mid-week so we could have a campfire in the fire pit. We had a fabulous experience at the Honeymoon Cottage and would highly recommend it.

Cozy, comfortable and tranquil

My family and I had a wonderful and pleasant stay at the honeymoon cottage. We were a group of 8, and the house was spacious enough to accommodate all of us. The house is up to date, well- maintained, very clean and despite being surrounded by woods, we didn't experience any critters or insects inside the house. Paul (the owner) did a great job with screening the Florida room and we enjoyed many of our meals there in the open air without worrying about any bugs. The house was well equipped with the basic kitchen necessities, which was quite helpful. The counter space is sufficient and the fridge was also roomy enough to store lots of groceries and provisions. The laundry room, grill, outdoor deck and yard space was a big plus! Our 4 boys enjoyed their time running around outside and had so much fun. Although, it is a remote location, the area seems very safe! The drive to downtown the Castine and the waterfront is about 10 mins. There are two small general stores in Castine, which have limited stock and limited hours. The closest supermarket is about 20 mins. away. The drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia took about an hour. Paul was very hospitable and gracious and immediately addressed any questions or requests that we had. I would highly recommend a stay here, if you plan to visit the area.

Perfect house for a family vacation

This house served as a great location for my extended family vacation, and every family member just loved this house. The house has great space for the entire family, and the screened-in sun porch was most enjoyable for a mosquito-free evening. The kitchen was perfectly appointed with everything we needed from a large lobster pot for our lobster feast, saute pans, coffee maker and wine opener. Our trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park were less than an hour long. The location was central to all our daily adventures and allowed us to relax in the evening. Paul made sure all of our questions were answered and was very accommodating. We highly recommend staying here!
