Home Description

The Space

Just remodeled in 2016, everything is brand-new. Stainless appliances and all new custom kitchen... all beautifully designed without changing the New Orleans charm of this 1920s raised basement double. The décor is vintage industrial with serene, sophisticated colors and furnishings. The classic shotgun-style home is unique and has all the features of old New Orleans... high ceilings, large windows, and has two queen beds to accommodate 4 guests.

Guest Access

Your stay will be in the upper left unit. You have your own front porch and a parking spot in the driveway, if you bring a car. If not, it's super-easy to get around town from here. Just hop a city bus at the corner, or stroll three blocks to the Carrollton Station of the streetcar line. The streetcar can take you all the way from Uptown into the French Quarter and soon, even into the St. Claude shops and neighborhoods.
No need to cook, either. Plenty of restaurants, deliveries, and Robert's Market has amazing prepared foods from their deli, just one block away.

Interaction with Guests

Our host lives downstairs in one of the lower units and is available to help you during your stay. Late check-in is fine, and the owners are also available by cell phone any time.

The Neighborhood

Uptown/Carrollton is true New Orleans; not just a party, but a gathering of neighbors who truly love their city. You never know when there will be an event, a parade, a special celebration nearby... and this neighborhood is an authentic experience of being a resident of the city. Visit many local restaurants and bars on Oak and Maple Streets - just a quick ride on the street car - or use your base as a place to unwind before joining the party in the French Quarter or Warehouse District.

Getting Around

The bus stop is literally one house away. From the front steps, walk 1/2 block to Claiborne Ave. Turn right on Claiborne and walk just three blocks to the Carrollton Station of the street car line. It's the "end of the line," or the "beginning of the line" on the streetcar route throughout the city.

Uber and taxis are plentiful... it's easiest to leave your car in the driveway and avoid those parking tickets!

Other Things to Note

Palmer Park is just three blocks away, providing outdoor space for jogging, playground for kids, and a beautiful green space in the midst of the city. On the third Saturday and Sunday of each month, Palmer Park hosts art festivals with local artists displaying their wares and lots of shopping opportunities for souvenir hunters and collectors.

House Rules

This is a cozy neighborhood - it's real New Orleans, with friendly neighbors and urban atmosphere, but it's not the place for a keg on the porch and a lawn chair on the roof. Be respectful of neighbors. Be friendly and enjoy a true local experience - just like you live here!
