LOCATION-The Best of Uptown

This apartment is in the Uptown area, (not Carollton) which means you will be in a walkable neighborhood close to high end and and popular local shops and restaurants, Tulane University, Audubon Park, the Mississippi River and the bus and the streetcar. This real estate area, nicknamed by New Orleans' real estate agents "The Golden Rectangle," is one of the most expensive in New Orleans as it is in high demand by locals. Most of the homes were built between the Civil War to around the turn-of-the-century with a few modern structures recently springing up.

You can walk to the Prytania theatre, one of the oldest, operating movie theaters in the U.S. (2 blocks) with special matinees, late night showings and mainstream films. At the nearby shopping village (3-4 blocks), you'll find several very good restaurants like the Upperline Restaurant, Chez Nous Charcuterie, La Thai Uptown, St. James Cheese Company and Manhattan Jack. For cold desserts, there's Creole Creamery which has homemade ice cream and Pinkberry, a local frozen yogurt place. Keep in mind, New Orleans is a foodie town and has over 1600 restaurants from which to choose and these nearby restaurants are all very good. CVS is the drugstore, Zara's Lil Giant Supermarket & Po-boys is the grocery store, there's a wine & spirits merchant, The Wine Seller that delivers and two banks with ATMs plus two hair salons, a fitness center, nail spa, yoga studio and a dry cleaners. And this is just on Prytania Street! Walk 4 blocks to Magazine Street and you'll find 60 blocks of boutiques, restaurants and both local and a few big box stores including Whole Foods. There's a bus line that will take you all the way downtown and to the Quarter or in the opposite direction, to Audubon Park and the Zoo or a steamboat ride. Or, hop on the historic streetcar (4-6 blocks) to meander your way up or down majestic St. Charles Avenue or call Uber. Audubon Park is 12 blocks from your front door packed with architecturally significant and still intact homes to view on your way.

DESCRIPTION AND AMENITIES

This apartment lives large with flexible and expansive interior and outdoor living spaces--perfect for professionals, a family or two couples in town for business, a wedding, a family reunion or a vacation to our fantastic city for our fabulous weather, Carnival, music, festivals, architecture, food, gardens and parks. You will adore staying in this lovely first floor apartment, one of three--it is turnkey and set up for you with a comfortable and pretty assortment of vintage, modern and antique art, furniture, linens and rugs with recently purchased appliances in the kitchen. Old world details such as high ceilings, tall original windows and hardwood floors enhance this turn-of-the-century apartment that is convenient on foot to uptown shopping, restaurants, entertainment and transportation. Fresh flowers and original art collected both from local artists and from the owner's travels around the world bedeck the interiors.

The apartment foyer features a French wall tree and Louis XV-style leather chairs so that you have a place to put your jackets, hats, umbrellas, keys and packages when you come in. From this space, you enter the combination living and dining room which is lit by a huge 60's Italian, gilt metal chandelier. You can visit with friends or watch the flat screen TV on a comfy, down-filled, linen-covered sofa or from the two equally comfy, slipcovered wing chairs. The dining area boasts an oval vintage dining table with places to seat 6 of you. The kitchen was updated recently and has stainless steel appliances including a washer and dryer that can accommodate large loads and a breakfast area set up with a flatscreen TV, Louisiana cypress table, Mid-Century modern chairs and a gargantuan Belgian antique church clock. In the pantry is coffee, tea, sugar and sugar substitute, paper towels, cleaning supplies and a six pack of water and a few snacks. Plans are in the works to expand the courtyard for a larger entertaining area but in the meantime, there is a glass-topped table, umbrella and up to 6 chairs. OUTDOOR LIVING

New Orleans' year round near tropical climate promotes an emphasis on being outdoors and we New Orleanians like to enjoy our outdoor rooms. This first floor apartment, has a front porch furnished with two rockers and two chairs and overlooks the front garden and the sweet patio of tile and limestone with a table, four chairs and a bench. The two additional chairs on the front porch can also be used at the patio table. There's an orange and a lime tree, perennials-something is usually in bloom--and a tall, leafy hedge surrounding the front providing a nice private space from the street. In the fenced-back, is the same style table and chairs which can be also accomodate 6. Bird and flower-watching is a must!

This apartment is just recently listed on Tripz. We have had several guests via other platforms and have received 5 stars from all! This apartment is perfect for those who need more than one bedroom yet want to stay in a quiet and comfortable home away from home.
