The bedroom is yours to do with as you wish. Invite guests, study, sleep, whatever. We will clean your room for you once a week, do the laundry, shop for toiletries.
The bathroom is shared. Newly tiled. Rain shower.
What makes this unique is that the fridge will be stocked with snacks you ask for. The cookie jar is full. I am a chef and a cajun farm girl. I can cook anything, even VEGAN and GLUTEN FREE. You will always find soup, something to make a sandwich with, toss together a salad. Ice cream. Whatever it is you like.
Staying here is like staying at your best friends moms house for a visit. You will be cared for while you study, or teach, or walk the floors of ICU. oasis on your way to somewhere else!
Guest access
The entire house, and yard are open to guests, except for bedrooms.
Interaction with guests
It depends on you! Twice a week I will be in cleaning and doing laundry. Everyday I will be in to clean kitchen, maybe make breakfast, and make dinner for extended stay guests. On Wed and Saturday I make breakfast to order. On Sunday, I make dinner, and anyone who is around can sit and eat. I make chicken wings and chili for Monday night football. Unless you are with us for only a night or two...then we clean daily!
Other than that, I am living my own life. If you need me, call.
Internships can be lonely and challenging. Cramming and studying. Not much time to really connect with people. Caring for sick loved ones at the local hospitals is challenging. Visiting the campus and travel can be as exhausting as it is exhilarating. The Cottage is a place for light socialization, food and fuel, hopefully a little fun, a listening ear if you need one, while you study, heal, recharge batteries!
We are close to Memorial, St Joseph Regional Med Center, Michiana Hematology Org, and Cancer Care Center;and, we have hosted several visiting nurses. One traveling drug salesman. And sadly, several people who flew in to care for people who had been med vacked in. Several people doing research at the colleges.
Other things to note
You should treat this space as home away from home. If you want someone to show you local sights, ask. Need help with something, birthday cake, engagement, sew a button, fix the car? I have a lot of contacts in my network. We solve nearly any request.
