Home Description
Cozy camping cabin in western rustic style that sleeps up to 6, just minutes from the resort town of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Lake Pend Oreille, on 10 private, wooded acres with views of the Selkirk Mountains, outdoor hot tub and shower, and fire pit.
The space
The location 9 miles from downtown Sandpoint is super private and quiet. The cabin is truly a work of art with blued pine, corrugated rusty metal ceiling, and many rustic touches and special details. The cabin measures 14x14 with a 14x12 covered porch, plus an 80-square-foot loft. This is modeled after camping cabins in state parks but way cooler and with comfortable beds and bedding provided. It is a dry cabin with no running water. It really is camping, or glamping as it's called.
A two-burner hot plate, microwave, toaster over, small fridge with freezer, coffee maker and electric tea kettle make it possible to make meals on-site. Some guests even cook over the campfire. Water is on-site with two frost-free hydrants near the cabin. We're talking tasty well water here!
There's a rustic hand built outhouse and a beautiful outdoor hot tub under the stars that seats five with a lounge. A unique outdoor shower is the newest addition to the property, along with an outdoor sink (seasonal use).
Inside the vintage pine trunk are games, local guidebooks, tourism publications and extra blankets. In the crate under the counter are plastic food wrap and wax paper, matches, hand sanitizer, hand soap, dish soap, a few hand towels and wash cloths, a hot pad, an assortment of condiments, salt and pepper, and sugar. A trivet and basin are hanging on the walls above the counter. Please use the trivet to set hot pots and pans on, and the basin for washing up. A 2-gallon water container is provided for your use. Please don't leave it on the counter wet as stains the wood.
The property includes a house and an RV site that allows for the possibility of group retreats. The house is a vacation rental from November through April, and we live in it from May through October. You may see other guests on the property, or you may have it all to yourself. Weekends, summers and holidays are busy. The cabin and RV site share the same driveway and are visible but filtered through trees. The house is not visible from the cabin and has its own driveway. RV use is sporadic and mostly in the summer season.
Part of our mission is to give people an affordable way to visit Sandpoint. Rates range from $60 to $95 a night depending on the season and number of guests. We have accommodations for horses and dogs too for an extra fee.
