Beautiful home and breathtaking views!

Laura was such a gracious host! Called us right when we were arriving to ensure we found it and when we got through the gate, the house was so beautiful! We only used one room but it was enough space for more. The sunrise and sunset were breathtaking! Didn't get to use the pool but maybe next time. Even though there are dogs it never interfered with our comfort. We took pictures of the horses before we left and they are very photogenic. We would love to stay again.

Unbeatable accomodations

I've never used VRBO before so was a little concerned about how things would work out. Turns out, it was great! Laura is a welcoming host. She was responsive to our inquiries but gave us our privacy throughout the week. Our party was four adults (two oldies and two college age children). The suite was ample for us all. The queen bed was very comfortable (I don't like my bed at home anymore). The two twin beds were fine for the kids. The kitchen, dining, and living space was very clean and well appointed. We did not lack a thing during our stay. The patio and pool area are awesome. The views of the countryside and mountains in the distance are unbeatable and very relaxing after a day of hiking and tourism. The location, while quite a distance from the core of Phoenix, is close to many hiking trails. It was nice for our day trip to Sedona to start from the north metro. Laura has several dogs (an Akita and four Pomeranians). They are always in their kennel or in the main house quarters. Guests need to realize that they are sharing the space with the resident family and dogs are a part of it. The Poms do get excited every once in awhile and that means and occasional bark party - but nothing annoying. The Akita needs an occasional walk outdoors - but as long as you communicate with Laura about your plans to use the patio, you'll never be bothered. Texting with Laura daily was the perfect solution. It worked out very well. The dogs were beautiful, had fun personalities, and actually added some character to the surroundings. Again - I give the stay five stars because I don't think we could have had a better experience. I highly recommend this place.

View with value!

I can't imagine having a better time anywhere else than at Laura's beautiful home in Northeast Scottsdale. I know it's a hackneyed expression but yes, "the pictures just don't do it justice." From the moment we drove up to the massive iron gate labeled Granite Mountain Ranch, we knew we were about to embark on a unique vacation experience. Not only did the gated entry make you feel secure but the size of the surrounding homes and horse farms were impressive. The two bedroom unit that we rented is actually a part of the entire home, but it is nicely sequestered off to create it's own space. The backyard is nicely landscaped with omni-stone and rows of multi-colored rose bushes border the pool area. The rear of the house has a gas grill and dining tables. A cast iron spiral staircase leads up to a deck where one can ride a waterpark style slide to splash into the pool below. The pool is moderate in size and sports a magnificent rock structure at one end with a cave where one can escape from the midday heat. On the lowest tier is a fire pit with benches and a supply of firewood. A walkway leads to a trellised gate and a beautiful garden area. A huge 50 foot saguaro cactus graces the side yard, while rows of Italian cypress makes you wonder if you're really in the desert or the Tuscan countryside. Pinnacle Peak is within minutes, and if hiking you can easily reach the summit at 2800 feet. Despite only having the one bathroom, our party of three managed fine. There is a pool table in the living room area and also a flat screen with Direct TV. The kitchen is properly appointed with coffee, spices and condiments and both bedrooms are an adequate size with comfortable mattresses. We really enjoyed watching and visiting with the owner's horses, and her collection of dogs is impressive as well! Laura was easy to work with and responsive to any of our requests. We would definitely book this rental again if given the opportunity.

Scottsdale Estate

It was a great location if you enjoy hiking. There are several trail heads located nearby with many different options. The Tom Thumb Trailhead is especially beautiful. You really feel like you're out in the country even though you're staying in a very upscale place. I enjoyed watching two birds nesting in the saguaro in the back yard. The kitchen has all the basic cooking utensils and tools you will need for easy meals so you can save a bit by shopping at the local Safeway. The washer and dryer worked well and the beds were very comfortable with luxurious linens and towels. The internet connection was excellent, and all the furnishings and decore beautiful. Our favorite aspect was the pool table. We didn't turn on the television for the entire week because the pool table kept us engaged whenever we weren't out hiking, or enjoying the sun on the patio. Our host, was very kind and checked us in quickly and then left us alone to enjoy our stay. The only thing I really missed was a hairdryer in the bathroom. We travel very light, so when we come again, I will just make room for it.
