Great Vacation Rental in Ketchikan!

Reviewed August 14, 2017 via mobile (Trip Advisor) This boutique Inn on the waterfront in Ketichikan is a great place for couples or family groups looking to visit the area. Wonderful view of the bay off of your deck and out of the picture windows. We stayed in the Orca Suite and are already planning a return vacation to this wonderful spot. Mary the owner is very helpful with suggestions on things to see and do.

Deluxe lodging in peaceful, scenic spot

Reviewed August 11, 2017 via mobile (Trip Advisor) Enjoyed Mary's small apartment for 8 nights, and it was a perfect stay. Porch of unit and living room have a beautiful view over the strait toward mountains on Prince of Wales island. We saw whales and bald eagles and salmon jumping daily. Everything in unit was deluxe and working, host Mary very helpful. Large unit there is even nicer. A great place to stay in Ketchikan.

Absolute amazing and breathtaking experience!

Reviewed August 11, 2017 via mobile (Trip Advisor) I just spent 6 days and 5 nights in the Admiral Suite at the Anchor Inn by the Sea and I could not have asked for a more amazing stay and experience. Bedroom was right next to the ocean, I could open my windows and just listen to the waves hitting the rocks as I relaxed in my bed. Even was visited by some whales a few mornings, was able to get amazing pictures that will last forever! The suite was beautiful, very spacious and well stocked with everything you might ever need during your stay. Mary and Greg are super friendly and amazing hosts, I highly highly, highly recommend staying here for an amazing Alaskan adventure!

Positively Incredible!

Reviewed July 21, 2017 Positively Incredible! (Trip Advisor) My boyfriend and I just got back from our stay in the quaint Orca suite. I am absolutely certain that this is the BEST place to stay in Ketchikan. If we could go back next week we would! Our suite was the perfect size for us with a very private covered deck. (Our suite was nestled around the corner) When we weren't exploring Ketchikan we spent all of our time on our deck taking in the most incredible views. Every morning at sunrise, humpback whales visited us in the quiet morning. We could never seem to get a good picture, but they gave us a private show that made us feel like we were the only people in the universe witnessing something incredibly special. We saw a pod of porpoises, sea lions popping their head up on occasion, dozens of eagles...and I will NEVER forget the quiet evening at sunset a bear paid a visit to our beach and a family of sea otters. We had a rental car which took us all over the island. The location is perfect. We were just 5-10 minutes from downtown Ketchikan where we would mingle with the cruise ship people upon occasion but it was never "crazy" busy. Even on a Saturday night we got right into dinner without a wait. We took the car to the far ends of the island for beautiful hiking trips and also down to Herring Cove to see the family of bears that hang out with the local fishermen and dozens of eagles. We made lots of beautiful discoveries by just getting out of the tourist zones and off the beaten path. I don't want to forget to mention the hospitality of the locals. Every resident/shop owner/bartender we met was very friendly and helpful. We asked Mary where we could buy local fish and she recommended Fish from Trish. I am so glad we went! We prepared several meals in our full kitchen. We bought Dungeness Crab for $15 a pound and had the best crab meal of our lives right in the Orca Suite. It was more than half the price of the local restaurants and WAY tastier. We made several trips there to buy food for dinner. Local joints you should visit: The Asylum Bar where you can have tasty beer and great food delivered from the Burger Queen next door, Mike's Elbow Room, Alava's (if you can catch them open), lots of great shops (the best ones are far away from the cruise ship docks), and Baranof fishing gave us a great afternoon on the water fishing for Halibut. Not only were Mary and Greg great hosts but we really appreciated that they thought of some of the little things. When we arrived we were concerned that there wasn't a ceiling fan in the bedroom. We are fan sleepers all year long. We were about to go to Walmart to buy one for the week and we remembered Mary saying to check the laundry room for odds and ends we may have forgotten at home. Sure enough, a box fan was in there that we grabbed for the week AND fishing poles for use! It is those little things that really make a stay comfortable! Also there were plenty of pots and pans and a very nice clean and functional grill on the deck which we used several times. If we ever go back to Ketchikan (and I hope we do!) this will be the only place I would want to stay. The price for what you get is incredible. Nothing can compare to the views off of that deck. Nothing. I would actually say this trip was life changing for us. Thank you Mary and Greg for sharing your piece of Heaven with us. I will forever be grateful for our time in Ketchikan and recommend it to anyone and everyone!

I wish I could give this place a thousand stars

Reviewed June 25, 2017 via mobile (Trip Advisor) I wish I could give this place a thousand stars We rented the orca and the admiral suit. For 6 couples and a baby. The rooms were large enough for everyone to be comfortable and what a view. We saw whales almost everyday from our deck since it's right on the water. I 100% recommend this place to stay a week or two.

Absolutely beautiful

Reviewed September 29, 2016 via mobile (Trip Advisor) I couldn't believe the beauty of this place. We stayed in the Whale Watch suite with two bedrooms and a kitchen. Everything was immaculate and clean, the kitchen well stocked with pots and pans. The owners are so nice and accommodating. I didn't want to leave!! But I will be back next year! (Gotta have that fresh caught salmon and halibut. Especially since we found the best captain!)

Look no further - this is the place to stay!

Reviewed July 27, 2016 (Trip Advisor) The owner's of Anchor Inn have truly put a lot of thought and consideration revolving around a guest's needs. We stayed in the Captain Morgan suite, located next to the main building. Our suite was the upper half of the house and it was FABULOUS! The basics you may be concerned about: the whole suite is large and spacious. The bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable beds, plenty of closet and dresser space. The bathrooms are spacious and very well stocked with towels, shampoo and soap. The large kitchen had all the pots/pans, plates/bowls etc, you need for any cooking and serving needs. There was food in the pantry and plenty of spices too! The washer and dryer were great! No need to bring detergent or fabric softener, it's already there. Parking is easily accessible, and entrance into the home is easily accessible without stairs (1 small step up to the entryway). On to the extras & bonuses: the VIEW! WOW! There were amazing views from inside and outside on the private deck. The location is a great bonus-perfectly located south of shopping. It's just north of Herring Cove (known for bear sitings) and the rain forest. Also not too far from great hiking trails. The location is also the reason for the great views! Wildlife siting: eagles, deer, seals (daily), and whales (we missed the whales while we were hiking-my excuse to return one day). You don't need to look further for lodging. These owners will not disappoint with their properties or their amazing services! They were very inviting, warm, and friendly. A true bonus! Thank you for a wonderful stay and being such a contributor to our fabulous Ketchikan experience.

Don't miss out on this OUTSTANDING property!

Reviewed July 13, 2016 (Trip Advisor) Came back for a second year for another stay at the Anchor Inn by the Sea. We LOVE this facility and booked our return trips for next year before we even left :) Well appointed and maintained with large roomy suites that have practically everything you might possibly need during your stay. Bedding is very comfortable and the living areas are comfortable as well. The views are AMAZING! It is so peaceful to sit on the porch and listen to the waves lapping against the shoreline in front of the facility; watch the eagles hunt for food and hear them chatting with each other (several eagles live nearby and often sit on the pole on the beach directly in front of the facility); watch orcas, seals, and seal lions swim by while they play and eat along the shoreline. Don't miss out on this outstanding facility - book now!!!!
