Amazing retreat with unbelievable views
My husband and I loved our stay here. First of all Todd was great in answering all our questions prior to and during the stay. The views from the house and deck are spectacular!! We even saw a deer and 2 fawns while eating dinner on the deck!! The sunsets from the deck were jaw dropping. The cabin was spotless and well stocked with supplies. The island is perfect with hidden trails and picnic beach areas. The farmers market was a definite must do!! We were sad to leave this little slice of heaven. Thank you Todd for some amazing memories and photos!!

A view with a house...the Octagon House
Just as advertised. Scenic, quiet and clean with a view that gives you the pines, the water and the snow capped mountains. The house was very unique and well-appointed. We even enjoyed the ride over the bridge every day and the security gate entrance. Great price and definitely worth staying there again

Perfect place to relax and renew
The photos don't do this lovely home justice, and that's really how we felt from the moment we arrived--at home. The property was exceptionally clean, scrupulously maintained, and generously stocked. The owners have thought of everything--from carefully labeling the light switches, to providing detailed, explicit instructions on how to light the gas-log fireplace, to generously leaving a well-stocked larder of staples (flour, sugar, couscous, arborio rice, herbs and spices) with instructions to "help yourselves." We spent hours a day sitting on the spacious deck, looking out over the Pickering Passage to the Olympics in the background and listening to the birds. The superb sound system was an unexpected pleasure, as was the treasure trove of jazz and classical CDs. We couldn't have asked for a more restful, relaxing, enjoyable vacation. Thank you, Todd and Lynne, for sharing your jewel of a home with us.

Our unique 'Octagon' House with a large deck and sunken Fireplace and Conversation Pit is ideal for enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Set in the Northwest Forest, the house overlooks the south Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains to the west, with gorgeous sunsets and views of the activity on the Puget Sound.
Our home is located on Harstine Island, in the Hartstene Pointe community on the north end of the island. Harstine Island is a large, forested island near Shelton, Washington, accessible from Route 3 between Bremerton and Shelton. The island is very non-commercial, rural in nature, with abundant wildlife.
The Hartstene Pointe community is the largest on the island (about 400 homes), and offers a number of amenities available to all residents and guests. Among the amenities are: beaches, picnic facilities, tennis courts, exercise area, heated spa and pool (summer only), trails, clubhouse with ping-pong, billiards, games, and a library. If you have a boat, there is a marina nearby and public launch facilities. Each home has its own secluded setting where you will feel very close to nature. Feel free to participate in the community and enjoy its amenities, or simply enjoy the solitude of our home and its setting. From the large covered deck you will see deer, raccoons, an occasional coyote, birds, and other wildlife up close, and the beautiful Olympic Mountains across the water.
Just inside is a large, open living and dining area with a conversation pit and massive stone gas fireplace: very cozy in the cooler weather. A grand piano is available, and the dining area can seat up to eight people. The Kitchen is fully stocked, not only with cookware and utensils, but also with a full range of staples that you are welcome to use. An electric stove, electric grill, microwave, toaster, and toaster oven provide a variety of cooking options, plus an outside gas BBQ grill.
Two bedrooms with individual baths are fully stocked with linens, pillows, and towels. The 'King Room' has a king bed, and the 'Queen Room' has - you guessed it - a Queen bed. The study looks out into the forest and over the water. It contains a desk with a wireless internet connection, Television, Audio/Video center with DVD, VCR, Radio, Cassette, and Roku/Netflix, plus a comfortable reading area. There is a single mattress and frame in the closet that can be used for sleeping a fifth person.
Our home is ideal as a base from which you can explore the Olympic Peninsula, the old logging town of Shelton, picturesque Hood Canal, Fort Townsend, Olympia, Bremerton, and Tacoma. Seattle is accessible by ferry. Many people enjoy collecting clams, oysters, crabs, salmon, and other sea creatures, while others like to explore the mountains, trails, and 'rainforest' of the Olympic Peninsula. For the occasional nice meal out, we can recommend several excellent local restaurants.
Whether you are looking for a forest retreat, a base camp, or a variety of nearby activities, our home is an ideal choice.
