About The Area

The neighborhood
This 5 bedroom home is central to everything Madison Valley, Capitol Hill and Central Seattle have to offer: great restaurants, parks, hiking, supermarkets, day spas, and more.
Your hosts made this neighborhood their home when settling in Seattle 5 years ago... and haven't looked back since.

We love walking the streets of this neighborhood, and we will gladly suggest fun walks depending on your interests. Stroll to the beach at Madison Park. Walk by multi-million dollar estates. Discover hidden neighborhood gems such as the farmhouse with horses in the yard and the home that doubles as an eclectic art studio and antique truck gallery. Take a walk through the fabled Arboretum to Lake Washington.
Once you have worked up your appetite, enjoy the countless restaurants that Madison Valley ("Little Paris"), Madrona and Capitol Hill have to offer. In addition to French gems, try our favorite tapas restaurant or the best Japanese food east of Tokyo. Take your morning coffee in one of numerous bakeries. Or opt for Thai, pan-Asian, craft pizza, Tex-Mex or more.

Our home provides easy access to Downtown (Pikes Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Great Wheel), Seattle Center (Space Needle, Chihuly Glass Museum), South Lake Union (MOHAI), University of Washington, and Capitol Hill. All are accessible by car, bus (numerous bus lines a few blocks from home), or for the adventurous, by foot.
If all of this touring (and eating) has you tired, pamper yourself with a visit to a day spa or nail salon. There are several of each within a few blocks of home, and we are happy to point you in the right direction.

Getting around
We live a few short blocks from bus lines that will take you to Seattle's numerous neighborhoods (Madison Park, Capitol Hill, Downtown, Belltown, Seattle Center, South Lake Union). Queen Anne, Ballard, and Fremont are more easily accessed by car. Our home offers garage parking for one car. Street parking for additional cars is plentiful and free.

Beautiful Home

Beautiful Home, more than enough space for our family vacation of 12 to seattle. Amazing hosts, thank you for helping us have an amazing stay.

The house worked out very well for us!

We had a wonderful family gathering for Christmas and the house worked out very well for us! Andy was very responsive and we appreciated that he was able to accommodate the early check in time we requested. We also appreciated the well stocked kitchen and the large table, which easily sat 11. The house is an easy Uber ride to anywhere in the city and we even enjoyed a couple of longer walks to the Public Market, MoPop and the Chihuly Museum.

The house was perfect for our big group

The house was perfect for our big group including three children. We spent a great Thanksgiving holiday in the home with everyone. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious, and the downstairs extra apartment was a bonus. Weather didn't cooperate so we didn't use the balconies, but could see how nice they would be in the summer. Andy was fantastic in his correspondence and keeping in touch. It was a great house and would definitely stay there again.

This house is simply amazing

This house is simply amazing and its owners were absolutely accommodating. From the pre-arrival to our first days there, Andy was friendly, communicative, and informative of the city as well as the home. To start, this place is huge. Even with 15 family members, we all felt that we had enough space when we wanted to get away from each other. The outside decks were beautiful and we wished we could have stayed longer to use the outdoor grill because the backyard is also very spacious and inviting. The master bedroom and master bathroom were also quite large-- enough for 8 girls at a time to get ready for a wedding. There is also a huge dining space with plenty of utensils and kitchen supplies included in case you wanted to cook. The pull out couches were comfortable whether you actually used them as a pull out or kept it as a sofa. The board games provided were also a bonus as well as the bag of snacks and bottle of wine gifted to us by Andy. Really, its the little things that make a difference. To sum it up, my family and I were over the moon about this Airbnb. In fact, several of them were ready to come back to Seattle just so we could stay here again and make use of the space a little more. We definitely recommend the house for large groups and really anyone who wants a beautiful, clean, accessible home while visiting a different city.

The house is very well maintained

The house is very well maintained, and Andy (the homeowner) did a great job attending to everything we needed, before our arrival into the area. The process was seamless and I will definitely be staying at one of Andy's homes if I ever host a large group in Seattle.

There is a reason Andy has 100+ glowing reviews

There is a reason Andy has 100+ glowing reviews and I'm happy to help him on his way to 200+. Andy made check in as smooth as I could imagine. I have stayed in over 10 AirBnBs and Andy was by far the most dialed in. He sent a welcome email to make sure you had directions on how to get in, crystal clear understanding of everything about the property, welcomed us with snacks and a spic and span property. Andy was very responsive via text and even reached out a couple hours after check in just to make sure my group was comfortable there wasn't anything else we needed to feel at home. My group left behind a dress and Andy made sure to let us know so we could make arrangements to return to retrieve the dress. I couldn't be happier with my stay and my interactions with Andy. If Andy could be my permanent AirBnB host I would jump at the chance to have him host my next stay. If you're looking for a stress free and reliable stay, I can confidently recommend Andy. Try for yourself and you'll be excited to be a part of his journey to 200+ glowing reviews :-) People are quick to write reviews when they have a negative experience but I think it speaks volumes when you have an experience so positive that you want to take the time out of your day to spread the word that a service exceeded and delighted your expectations. Thanks again Andy! Wes

Had a blast at the place

Had a blast at the place.... Would definitely recommend to friends or family of they were in town. Didn't really find much to do within walking distance but nothing was too far for a short car ride or Uber. Andy is a great host and communication was very good. Loved the house.

The House of Suffrage was a perfect spot

The House of Suffrage was a perfect spot for a wedding gathering spot for guests from out of town. The location is centralized, with many fun restaurants and stores within walking distance. The house looked exactly like it's online presentation. It was extremely clean and was very easy to keep clean throughout the weekend. Andy was always available but we had no need-all communication was clear and upfront.

I hope to be referring more people in the future

I am a RN and work in the specialized field of bone marrow transplant. Our patients and their families can spend months on our unit and even more time outside of the hospital in rentals near to treatment clinics after being discharged. I found Andy's place for a family whose loved one did not survive bone marrow transplant treatment. They were from out of state and included family and a large group of friends who had spent the last week in a cramped hospital room. Since I had a great rating with Airbnb and they needed help, I connected the family with Andy and arranged booking. From what I understand the family was grateful to have a few days of respite together outside of the hospital. I was glad to help them out and even more grateful for Andy's swift response, clear communication and attention to detail. I hope to be referring more people in the future, as the need is there for patients and families who travel far for extensive treatment.

Andy's house is exactly what it was described on the page.

Andy's house is exactly what it was described on the page. We enjoyed the large dining space which fits 10+ pp and lovely backyard. We are a big group so we actually rent two houses from Andy. He was very responsive in communicating and kindly accommodated our needs. The houses were well kept and Andy surprised us with treats when we arrived! It was close to public transportation, but we used uber or left. It only cost about $10 to go almost all downtown landmarks. Coming from the south, we were first surprised that it seems not air-conditioned, but later found out it was very cool by opening up windows. It was a very postitive experience renting from Andy. I'd recommend friends and family to rent from him again.

Amazing experience

Amazing experience. We had 16 guys stay and it didn't feel cramped. Location is great and Andy was very accommodating - allowing us to adjust our check in and check out times. Periodically checked to see if we needed anything. Highly recommended!

Andy was quick and responsive via email, text messages and phone calls

This was my first time using an Airbnb home for vacation and I can say that it definitely won't be the last, in large part due to Andy and his home. With our large party, it would have been a nightmare trying to coordinate meeting times and various hotel rooms across Seattle; and we probably would have to have paid even more as collaborative group! Andy was quick and responsive via email, text messages and phone calls. He checked up on us before, during and after our stay should we need anything at all. I had members that booked flights last minute so I was late to give Andy our check in time but he worked with me to make sure that the first to arrive would be able to get into the home. Again, this was my first stay so I had various questions while I was here. Everything was answered promptly and I can see that everything was also well thought out for us. I can not imagine a better serviced stay. They even had a goody bag of snack and a bottle of wine ready for us when we got there as we couldn't make it to the store before gathering the group and dropping off our luggage. The home was beautiful! Outside access for every floor, spacious kitchen and dining. The main floor easily accommodated our 15 people for breakfast (all cookware included) and lounging around. Everyone had a place to sleep whether it be a bed or sleeper sofa. Albeit not in control of the homeowners, the street is a much more narrow that I am used to back home but the driveway for the home can fit two cars in addition to the garage space. The location is not far from downtown so driving or ubers were very easy to arrange. If we make it our to Seattle again, this will be the first home I check for availability. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone traveling with a large group, you won't be disappointed!! - Alex

The house was spacious and clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay

We stayed at Andy's house while in town for a family reunion. The house was spacious and clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the deck off the living room and my younger cousins loved playing the piano. Andy graciously let us check in early and alerted us as soon as the house was available and even left us with a bottle of wine and snacks - so nice! Him and his wife run a very organized business and we had a great time in Seattle.

You will love staying in this quiet neighborhood

You will love staying in this quiet neighborhood that has eclectic homes and gardens. Close to groceries and coffee shops. 30 minute drive to downtown where I would recommend the sky view observatory We also had fun on the duck tour. The home has most amenities and was very clean!

We had a team of executives come into town for a week of company meetigs and they said the Hose of Suffrage really helped enhance their bonding experience. Andy gave great instructions and made it extremely easy for everyone to find the house, check-in and checkout smoothly. Thank again Andy!
