About The Area
Lake Anna is one of the largest freshwater inland lakes in Virginia, covering more than 20 square miles and with a 225 mile shoreline. Located 72 miles south of Washington, D.C. in Louisa, Orange and Spotsylvania Counties, and close to Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and Charlottesville, Lake Anna is easily reachable from anywhere in Virginia.
For nearly 40 years, Lake Anna has been a popular vacation and second home destination for residents of Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. In addition, the Lake Anna region offers a great quality of living for its full time residents. Lake Anna has a full range of seasonal activities from swimming, sailing, boating, personal watercraft and wake sports to kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as a calendar of exciting sponsored events throughout the year.
Lake Anna is well-known for its great fishing with more than 30 species including large-mouth bass, striped bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, white and yellow perch with two exciting new additions: saugeyes and hybrids (a cross between striper and white bass.) Attractions in the lake’s vicinity include vineyards, antique shopping, golf, historic sites, theme parks, restaurants and hiking trails.
