Garnerland was great! The place was real nice, real clean and had pretty much everything you might need for kitchen gear. The screened in back porch is a big plus. The owners (and their dogs) were really nice too. The Luray Caverns are only about 10 minutes away so although you may be outside of Luray, the town is not far. Both my wife and I agreed that we enjoyed our stay at Garnerland.

Delicious homemade cookies greeting us, friendly, helpful hosts and a comfortable fully equipped place. Sorry we couldn't stay longer.

Awesome stay. The best Christmas!!
My stay at Garnerland has to have been the best Chrsitmas ever and I've had some great ones! They make sure you have everything you have at home and then some. It is nestled in the quiet Virginia mountains with breathtaking views and close proximity to Luray and Skyline drive. There is cable and wifi. BJ stopped by to have dinner and play board games! Cabin brimming with good times and hospitality!
We had an amazing stay at Garnerland! The gorgeous log cabin home is appointed with comfortable beds, everything kitchen-related that you'll need to cook up some tasty food, and tons of hospitality! The hosts are friendly and kind, available if you need them but not if you don't. We had a bonfire in the backyard the first night and could see way more stars than in DC where we visited from. There are some grocery stores, fast food, and a CVS about 15 minutes away, in addition to being close to the Caverns and hiking. We hiked the Bird Knob Circuit and it only took us about 15 minutes to drive there which was incredibly convenient. We made great memories at the Garnerland cabin and we'd highly recommend that other groups of friends do the same. At only a 2-hour drive out of DC (if you leave before rush hour!), Luray is a welcome change of pace and a great spot to relax, play games, and enjoy being surrounded by nature. Archie (our furry friend!) enjoyed the big yard as well!

Great Vacation Getaway in the Shenandoah Valley Near Luray
ABOUT GARNERLAND
It was built in 2008. Looks like one huge house, but it’s actually a main house (occupied by the owners) and a Guest House. The Guest House is connected to the main house but totally private with its own entrance. The Guest House is the log home vacation rental and is quite unique. Comes included with Don and Bj Garner & two furry kids.
ABOUT THE LOG HOME VACATION RENTAL (Guest House)
The ramp leads you to the Guest House rental door, where above it is a green sign: A HAPPY PLACE. Indeed it is. There are several placards on the porch… each is an ode to a loved one(s).
There’s a private screened-in porch for you with a table and chairs and a wooden porch swing. The huge open deck has a nice patio set that seats six. The door has a keypad lock; changed with each new renter. You are notified via email with the code and other details.
It’s an open kitchen/living room floor plan. It is completely furnished. All wood interior. There’s a beautiful stone fireplace that works at the push of a button and a 40 inch Flat Screen TV.
Feng shui alone makes you relaxed.
The bedroom has a queen size bed, one dresser, a 32 inch TV and a large closet. In the unique loft is a king size bed and two singles. All the beds are comfortable and everybody gets two pillows and an extra blanket.
The kitchen has modern appliances and a big island counter that seats two; a café table that seats two and a bar that seats three. Dishes, cookware, eating & cooking utensils are provided.
The bathroom boasts a 6’-long whirl-pool tub (hold on when jets are used!) Towels, toilet paper, soap & shampoo are provided; if you need more, look in the closet. There is a safety bar at the tub & toilet for those who need them.
You have your own laundry room. Detergent is provided. There’s a large rack to hang your clothes on.
If you like to cook out, there is a gas grill on the deck and also a charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal).

~ Pets are welcome if you’re sure they’d get along with our two very friendly, sociable, well-trained dogs. Don and Bj – property owners – are friendly, sociable & well-trained too.
~ We believe in the Golden Rule and expect that of others.
~ When you are within two days of the rental start date, it is too late to reserve the property online. Simply text or give me a call to set up the reservation at 540 270-4309.
~ Last but not least, we don’t smoke, but if you do, please smoke outside.

ABOUT LURAY
Luray is the near the entrance to Skyline Drive.
The town’s close proximity to the Shenandoah River provides recreational opportunities connected with boating, white water rafting, and fishing as well as hunting in the fall. Of course, the Caverns are the main attraction. Exploring it is an awe-inspiring-there-is-a-God experience.
Luray has a small-town-USA feel to it; the shops and restaurants along Main St. are cozy and quaint, the people friendly.
Favorite places for kids, besides the caverns: the zoo, Lake Arrowhead, Imagination Station (part of RH Dean park in town), Yogi Bear Park. a bowling alley and feeding the ducks at Hawksbill Creek – a very popular walking/jogging trail that intersects with Main Street. There are flyers on the kitchen counter for you.
There are several shops on Main Street – all worth checking-out – because the merchandise is a heck of a lot more interesting than Walmart’s… And several places to eat from the upscale Mimslym Inn to good ole Hardees. It’s great to eat in town and walk straight to the Hawksbill Greenway.
