This home is in a perfect location and is a wonderful place to stay

5 of 5 We loved this Cabin. We stayed with my sister in law and brother in law and our fur kids. Everything that we needed was here and Dick came to make sure we had everything we needed. The location is great to see the sights in Charlottesville, Staunton, and all the wineries, breweries, and hard cider places around the area. If you are a hiker Crabtree Falls is just awesome to hike too. Also close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Parkway. Having internet and dish network is an added bonus. You will not go wrong renting this cabin. Thank you Dick and Veegie Submitted: Apr 20, 2017 Stayed: April 2017

Wonderful, Relaxing, Dog Friendly Get-away

Wonderful, Relaxing, Dog Friendly Get-away 5 of 5 We arrived at dusk to find soft music playing and the lights lit. This was a great welcome that reflected our entire stay. The cottage is very cozy with a comfortable living room and cook-friendly kitchen. We enjoyed the back deck for reading and watching the birds at the feeder. The rural, beautiful location proved perfect for walking our dogs, and people driving by exchanged waves with us. We were pleased to be in a rural location yet so close to Monticello, Montpelier and Monroe's Highland, along with the Shenandoah National Park. Dick made sure to ask if we had everything we needed. Our week was super relaxing. We recommend Afton Cottage highly! Submitted: Apr 23, 2017 Stayed: April 2017 Source: HomeAway

Perfect for our girl's weekend

5 of 5 Afton Cottage is a beautiful, quiet, comfortable cottage in the foothills. The house itself is set up well for a long stay. The kitchen has all of the equipment you might need and there are plenty of books and puzzles to keep you occupied if you decide to stay in. We ventured out to wineries and peach orchards and some of the historic sites that surround Charlottesville. We had a wonderful time and the cottage was perfect!

Nice place out in the country

4 of 5 We visited my daughter for a week during her summer work internship. This was a good place for us to stay, away from the crowds, close to the hiking trails and many wineries and breweries in the area. It worked out well. Owner is nice and very accommodating, best equipped kitchen I have ever stayed in, nice bedrooms and even with 4 people and one shower never ran out of hot water. The deck is a nice place to gather.

Lovely place managed by a lovely couple

Perfect Quiet Setting

5 of 5 Comfortable, roomy house in a perfect, beautiful, quiet setting. On a quiet back road, but close enough to the main roads. Lots to see and do in the area. We saw more wildlife right outside the cottage than we did anywhere else. A herd of deer comes through a couple of times a day, we were visited one morning by a black bear, and our game camera captured night pictures of a fox and possum. The cottage has a great handbook full of info on the house itself as well as local attractions and restaurants. Dick is a perfect host.

Wonderful accommodations and Relaxing

5 of 5 I thoroughly enjoyed my week and the Fall colors and weather were excellent. The "book" created by Dick Bell, advising everything to know about the house, area, things to do, places to eat, etc was extremely detailed and helpful. Charlottesville is very close, with lots to see and do, and just staying cozy was just as much of a vacation as I wanted. I hope to return! Tricia Laut

Great home in beautiful location!

5 of 5 This home was perfect for our family weekend getaway to Virginia. It was very clean and had everything we needed so we felt like we were at home from the moment we arrived. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishware and appliances. The beds were super comfortable and afforded us all a good nights sleep. The home has a beautiful view and is private, yet the location is extremely convenient to Shenandoah National Park and Charlottesville. We loved being able to bring our family dog and he enjoyed exploring the yard. We could tell that the homeowners give great attention to detail in caring for the home and providing a wonderful experience for their guests. They have a binder in the home that gives detailed information on the house and surrounding area, which we referenced for dining out and were not disappointed. This home definitely gets 5+ stars and we would happily return here again!

Great little cottage in wonderful location--close to vineyards, breweries, hiking,

5 of 5 Really enjoyed our stay at Afton cottage--the cottage itself was well maintained and very comfortable. It was close to all of the local attractions and in a beautiful area of rolling hills and farmland. Highly recommended.
