Lovely place

Lana's loft is very comfortable, attractive, and is smack dab in the middle of town. It was a great fit for us.

Great!

Perfect for us, two couples and one other adult. We did not cook, but kitchen fully stocked. Very nicely furnished and great location. We could walk to everything. Loved our dinners at Breakwater and Saltus. Our blue carriage driver was so nice and very informative. I highly recommend her. Our long walks and quiet time made for a most relaxing stay. Thanks

Loved ArtLoft in downtown Beaufort!

Perhaps because of my own artistic sensibilities, I absolutely loved ArtLoft! It is a spacious early twentieth century structure, decorated with an artist's eye, filled with light from its many windows, and had everything we needed (including washer/dryer). An added bonus (for myself, my daughter and my son's girlfriend) was the original artwork on the walls, some beautifully rendered by Lana Hefner, the owner of the property. The wonderful old glass and wood bookcase in the dining area had a treasure trove of books, with something for everyone. Location, location, location is another reason I loved the rental: I stepped out the door into downtown Beaufort, within easy walking distance to shops, galleries and restaurants on Bay Street (the main drag) and the very nicely done River Walk area. The neighborhood across the street from the building that housed the rental was lovely and included historical landmark homes. About a mile and a half away is the paved Spanish Moss Trail (installed where an old railway line used to be) where my husband and I enjoyed an early morning bike ride, which included some beautiful low country views. Hunting Island Beach was an easy 30 minute drive away. We just happened to come the weekend of the decades running Beaufort Water Festival, which began the night of our arrival with a performance down at the River Walk by the Marine Corp band and fireworks over the water. Having read in reviews that for the Carteret Street side rooms, vehicle noise could be a problem at times during the first part of the evening, I came armed at bedtime with ear plugs. Also, to access the apartment on the second floor, a long interior staircase has to be climbed; not for folks with knee, hip or leg issues. I hope that we can stay at ArtLoft again someday!
