Nestled Along the Shoreline of Picturesque 2,800 Acre Santeetlah Lake! Blue Waters Mountain Lodge is your vacation solution – whether you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing escape or exciting outdoor adventures. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina and nestled along the shoreline of picturesque 2,800 acre Santeetlah Lake in the lush Nantahala National Forest, Blue Waters Mountain Lodge puts you in the heart of one of the nation’s most beautiful areas. Known for its natural splendor, activity filled outdoor lifestyle and deep serenity, this majestic setting offers a wealth of activities or the perfect backdrop to do nothing at all.

Blue Waters Mountain Lodge features nine guest rooms, most of which offer panoramic lake and mountain views. Each guestroom has been decorated with natural pine, rustic woods, and antique furnishings that reflect the mountain setting with autumn colors of moss, brick red and wheat. Each room has a king or twin beds, private bath, and satellite television. Night rate ranges from $145.00 to $165.00 which includes a full breakfast each morning. The nightly rate to book the entire lodge is $1405 and we can accommodate 18 to 20 people.This unique combination of relaxation and action packed fun starts at the Lodge itself, where you’ll find a game room complete with billiards, cards, darts, and a variety of indoor games as well as croquet and horseshoes outdoors. For a quiet alternative, the Lodge offers a well-stocked reading library and plenty of decks with outstanding lake and mountain views that invite you to settle in and relish the solitude.

Comfortable rooms, with or without lake views, a bountiful breakfast and plenty of peace and quiet all come together to make this special place a home away from home that you’ll relish returning to, year after year.

About The Area

Blue Waters Mountain Lodge is conveniently located on the banks of Santeetlah Lake. Santeetlah covers 2,800 acres and is a manmade reservoir. The lake attracts water sports of all kinds. Enjoy Water skiing, swimming, canoeing, boating, and jet skiing. The Lodge can assist in making arrangements for you to rent pontoons, fishing boats, ski boats, and wave runners.

Whitewater

Whitewater activities are available on nearby Nantahala River. Activities include rafting, canoeing, and kayaking. A short drive takes you to whitewater adventures on the Ocoee River. Ocoee is the home of the 1996 Summer Olympic Whitewater Event.

Fishing

Fishing is a top choice for many visitors to the area. Your choice of fishing opportunities are numerous. Fishing on Santeetlah Lake on the Lodge property offers an exciting challenge to any angler. Nearby Nantahala River, Slick Rock Creek, and Snowbird Creek are fly fishing spots. Fishing guides are available at the Lodge.

Hiking

Hundreds of miles of hiking trails originate just a short distance from the Lodge. Check out The Appalachian Trail to Cheoah Bald from Stecoah Gap (12.5 miles round trip). Wauchecha Bald Trail #47 (16.5 miles round trip). Bear Creek Trail (6.5 miles round trip). Check out The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, with its giant Hemlocks and Tulip Poplars over 500 years old. The forest is a short distance from the Lodge. Many of the trees you will see on the Forest’s hiking trails are over 20 feet in circumference and 150 feet tall.

Biking

Take a relaxing bike ride around Santeetlah Lake. Maybe try a more challenging adventure on the many trails around the lake. Enjoy all the magnificent scenery and cool climate the lake offers. Bring your own bikes or Blue Waters Mountain Lodge will provide one for you.

Golf

Mountain golf is played in the highlands. This creates the stage for a great game of golf. This magnificent setting attracts golfers drawn by the scenic beauty and pleasant climate. The primary attractions to mountain golf are lush fairways, sprawling bent grass greens and cool breezes. Gently undulating terrain reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands greet you on the courses. Blue Waters Mountain Lodge can make arrangements for you to challenge some of the area’s most prestigious courses. Check out Cherokee Hills Golf and Country Club, Mountain Harbour Golf Course, Mill Creek Country Club and Smoky Mountain Country Club.

Horseback Riding

The area offers a variety of the finest Horseback riding trails. Travel through scenic vistas, and beautiful landscapes. The Lodge has arrangements with several rental and guide services.

Sightseeing

Other area points of interest within ten miles of the Lodge: Chief Junaluska’ Grave, the Origination Point of the Trail of Tears. The town of Robbinsville (film location for much of the movie “Nell”). The scenic Cherohala Skyway between Robbinsville, North Carolina and Tellico Plains, Tennessee. A two-hour drive offers the Tennessee tourist destinations of Knoxville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge. Visit the Great Smoky Mountain National Park , the nation’s most visited park in the National Park System.

House Rules

Deposits:
A deposit equal to the daily rate for all guests may be required for confirmed reservations and can be made by credit card or personal check. The deposit will be forfeited if you arrive after the specified date or depart before the final date of reservation.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be made at least fourteen (14) days prior to the scheduled arrival date in order to avoid cancellation fees.  The cancellation fee shall consist of one (1) night’s rental charge and applicable taxes for each room reserved.  In addition, the cancellation fee shall apply to guests in “no show” or early departure circumstances.

We gladly accept MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover, personal checks and travelers checks.

Meals
A bountiful breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Dinner is served from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Dinner reservations are required. Limited special diet options (allergies, diabetic, vegetarian) are available and notification is required to be made at the time of reservation.

Smoking
Blue Waters Mountain Lodge is a non-smoking facility.

Attire
Dress is informal. We do request no shorts in the dining room at dinner.

Children
Unfortunately, Blue Waters Mountain Lodge is unable to accommodate children under the age of 12 years unless the entire lodge is block booked by one group or family.

Pets
We regret that we cannot accommodate pets of any kind.

Suitability

Each room features a private, adjoining en suite bathroom. Room 1, our handicapped accessible room has a large roll-in shower with mounted/hand held shower head. Room 9 features a jacuzzi bathtub. All other rooms have a private tub/shower.
