Unique Post and Beam Lake Front Home

Details

Home Description

Designed from the ground up with large family gatherings in mind, this 2,800 square-foot lake home has four spacious bedrooms, each over 200 square feet, and three spacious baths, the smallest over 70 square feet. In the main level, a 23 foot cathedral ceiling exposes oak beams and a tongue-and-grove oak ceiling, adding to the spacious feel of the 800 square foot Great Room. Two 8’ dining tables comfortably seat 16. Two full-sized leather couches provide plenty of seating with a terrific view of the lake and woods. The television can be located in the lower level common area so the kids’ movie and game noises don’t interfere with conversation elsewhere. But it can be moved to the great room so everyone can enjoy a show together. The loft provides an extra sleeping area and has been the location of many spirited foosball matches.
The 360 square-foot cedar deck feels like an extension of the Great Room because of the over-sized windows. The deck is pleasantly shaded by the house in the morning and by oak trees in the afternoon.

Our home is built on 100 feet of heavily wooded shoreline and both our neighbors have double-wide lots of 200 feet, offering a nice secluded feeling, while other lots on the lake may be as narrow as 60 feet. You can keep your boat in our 10x28' dock slip. If you have more than one, ask, and I bet we can find a place for it. The dock also has a 300 square foot swim platform with a six-foot tall slide into the lake. And our cove location allows for safe, relaxing swimming away from boat traffic, while still providing a wonderful view of the lake and easy access to the main channel.

Our VRBO is also a VRBBO (vacation rental built by owners), completed in July 2008. The project began with the owners, two brothers, cutting down dead oak trees, milling them into timbers, and then shipping the entire frame on a semi-trailer to the lake. It's been a family project the whole way with over 5,300 hours of volunteer work contributed by family and friends. Although it's been challenging at times, it's also been very rewarding, and we're excited to share the completed project with our guests.

Design Layout and Wheelchair Accessibility:

The main level, with access to the driveway and deck, includes the kitchen, dining area, living area, master bedroom, and bathroom. The entire main level is wheelchair accessible, including 36 inch doors throughout, a ramp from the driveway into the main door, and a grab bar next to the toilet. If someone in your group has difficulty with stairs, they will find everything they need conveniently located on the main level. The lower level consists of three bedrooms, all facing the lake, and two bathrooms.

Sleeping Arrangements:

One bedroom has two queen beds (sleeping four). Two bedrooms each have one queen bed (sleeping four). The bunk room has two queen bunk beds (four queen mattresses, sleeping eight) and beneath the bunks are a twin and full mattress that can be pulled out (sleeping 3). If you have children in your gathering they’ll love camping out together in this room. Or, feel free to move the full and twin mattresses to another room to better suite your family sizes and sleeping arrangements. Finally, there are three queen mattresses in the loft (sleeping 6). Up to 26 can sleep on mattresses, or up to 13 adults can each have a mattress to themselves. Your whole party can sleep comfortably under one roof. (For those of you doing the math, the 26th spot is in the crib.)

Location and Convenience:

Located at mile marker 4 on the North Shore, this home is located 15 minutes or less from: Bagnell Dam, Lake Ozark, Osage Beach, HyVee, Wal-Mart, go-kart tracks, miniature golf, golf, shopping, health care, and a wide variety of restaurants and bars. A convenience store, with a surprising variety of goods, is less than two miles away. Adventure Marine is a good choice for boat and waverunner rentals, and it is located less than ten minutes away.

Additional Information:

-Central air with separate thermostat setting for upper and lower levels.

-Concrete driveway allows four parking spots (or 6+ if you double park). Additional gravel spots are available.

Labor Day Weekend

I rented the lake house over Labor Day Weekend and everything was more than we could have asked for. The living space on the first floor was great for a large group, and the sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly, I think everyone had a bed. The deck had a great view and the dock also worked out nicely for everyone.

Dads 80th Birthday

Your home was a wonderful venue for Dad's 80th birthday. It was beautiful and relaxing and had many nooks for people to escape to as needed, whether it was out on the deck...down to the dock...up to the loft etc. We did use a lot of paper products, but your kitchen was great. One family member brought a Bunn coffee pot to keep up with the crowd and two brought roaster ovens to help make a roast beef dinner for 32.

Amazing

19 friends and I spent 4 awesome days at this rental! The house itself is beautiful and well-maintained. The owner clearly takes good care of his house and renters, and is very welcoming of pets! I would definitely recommend this house for large groups, family reunions etc. There are quite a few stairs down to the dock, however, so it might be a little tough for the very young or very old to navigate. Once you make it down to the dock, the owner has a huge selection of fun floats. We also had fun fishing off the dock! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Celebrating our son's 30th birthday

We just got back from our lake trip celebrating our son's 30th birthday. When you book a home over the internet, you can't help but to be nervous about what you are going to actually see when you arrive. While I worried the entire trip to the lake, I was so happy when we arrived. The house was amazing and the way it was built, was great for a large party! We enjoyed it very much. I was also very impresssed with the way the kitchen was stocked. While we brought lots of food and actually pre-ordered or Friday evening meal, the kitchen was amazing. I loved how people left things and we did the same thing. While we had plenty of our own goodies, it was nice to see the sharing of people. We had a crab legs and shrimp boil Saturday evening. Sat everything up our front of the house and made it so easy and convenient to the kitchen. The weekend was perfect!!!! We also loved the swim dock and slide. Everyone enjoyed the floating devices and we even left some behind for the next group. I cleaned the house before we left so I hope the cleaning lady liked that. She was also very nice too! I will say that if one thing was a negative, it was that the trash cans were all full when we arrived but thank goodness we had a big truck and that became our dumpster until we took it to be dumped early Sunday morning. But that's pretty awesome when only one thing is a negative!!!! Thank you Scott for the ease of booking the house as well as talking with us on Saturday morning when the power went out after the crazy storm that blew in Friday night!!!!! Our son was very happy with everything and so were his friends!!!!!

Peaceful Getaway

I just wanted to say, this house was amazing, and was completely above par and what I expected. It was a great getaway for my friends and I. I cannot thank the owners enough for the experience we received. They are incredibly friendly and extremely helpful. The house has plenty of space and sleeps several. This is a dream vacation getaway. The driveway is not a problem at all as long as you know how to drive somewhat, you are fine. I hope future renters will have as great of an experience as we all did. Thank you so much!

Aweseome! Best Rental on the Lake!

First, let me say, the driveway did look very scary the first time. But we made it and continued to drive up and down all week with no incident. This is the second home we have rented on the lake and this is the one we will come back to. The previous home was located on the main channel and we were not able to swim at all. This home has plenty of room for large parties. The kitchen was well equipped, just make sure you do a quick search before you go grocery shopping, we had to go back for sugar, not a big deal, there is a Conoco at the top of the hill that carries most items. We did our main shopping at the Hyvee in Osage Beach. We ate most meals at the house, but did check out Dragon Lake Cafe, next to Conoco, and the Batter's Box, both were very tasty. We also took a water taxi one night to H-Toads and Shady Gators, the prices seemed steep, however better than driving winding roads at night. The name is Playing Hooky, Captain Jim. We also rented a boat one day from Iguana Water Sports, that was very reasonable. Most days we just went down to the dock and swam. The water was very calm and we had a lot of fun. Next time we will bring our folding chairs so we can sit down there and enjoy the sunsets on the water. The stairs were not a huge issue, I didn't miss my gym as I felt that was a good work out! The beds and linens were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms huge and plentiful! We did not have issues with the water pressure, we did what was recommended by the owner. The only tip I have is to bring your favorite pots (or just your frying pan) if you like to cook. They have plenty of cooking equipment there, I am just used to what I have at home and it wouldn't be a big deal to throw it in with the rest of my things. Plenty of water toys and a pump so you don't have to blow up yourself. You could enjoy the entire stay with only having to go grocery shopping once. Owner was available and responsive though out our stay. Grill was nice to have and plenty of gas. If you are looking for a fun little bar to have a night out, Tiki Bay is right around the corner and the people are very nice. Food is cheap and good as well. Overall, best vacation home we have rented and we will be returning. :-)

I wish there were more than five stars available

We spent Thanksgiving week at this home and as each family member said it was EPIC. This vacation home was even more than we imagined as we were all comfortable, relaxed, well rested and all our family was together under one roof. We found this beautiful home more than anything we could have imagined from the beautiful view to the lake from the great room to the loft area where many hours of foosball was played. Although it was November, we had a couple of family members jump in the lake on our last day just to say they did it! Although the home is beautiful it was also comfortable in its furnishings...wood floors through out...beautiful tile bathrooms...all that the little ones in our group were contained and safe so we felt right at home and did not have to fear them getting into trouble. There was enough seating for everyone and on Thanksgiving we had one long table for everyone to eat together! We really enjoyed our stay and the owner incredibly helpful and accomodating. We actually drove over a two weeks before our stay to 'scope' things out and were initially surprised at the steepness of the driveway but it turned out to be no big deal...AT ALL. There were even fishing poles available for my brother from Californai!! We hope to be able to visit this home in the warmer months of the year and take advantage of the beautiful lake...more than dip for membership in the Polar Bear club.

Awesome

We had a college reunion of guys coming from St. Louis, Kansas City, Central Missouri and Texas. The house was awesome and slept everyone that we needed to. It was nice to have everybody stay at one place. The place comes with a nice dock, family room, boat ramps, kitchen, laundry, etc. This would be a great place for any event. The owner is very accommodating and responds back to every email in a quick and timely manner. The driveway is steep, so just use your break.

Beautiful Home

We had 3 generations stay here. The home is beautiful and VERY well equipped with linens, kitchen necessities and kitchen staples. We had a couple issues which are probably unique to our family, but bear notice. My stepfather is 95 and although the master bath is handicap accessible, it is not handicap friendly, and he had some issues with the bathtub, which had no grab bar, and a regular bathtub, which proved to be too difficult for him to get into..... Also the bedrooms are set up probably more friendly to multi families with small children. We have more married and young adults, so pay attention to the bed setup. There are plenty of beds, but we had some pretty creative arrangements of people lol. All the unmarried young adults slept in the bunk room, they drug some of the loft mattresses down because the "old" people woke them up making coffee and visiting in the morning. All of the bedrooms are huge, so you can get creative with all of the mattresses available. The two bathrooms in the lower level worked very well, even with 10-12 people sleeping on that level. We had one day of rain, there are some games available, but more geared towards smaller children... we made do with cards! We were able to park 6 vehicles with no problem. The great room is spacious and wonderful, we were all able to eat, play cards, and visit and never felt crowded. The deck is huge, and there is some shade at all times. There are quite a few stairs to the dock, but we all enjoyed floating when not out on the boat. I would highly recommend this house, and the owner was a pleasure to work with.....
