Home Description
Although we are situated in conservative Northern Michigan, please know that I do welcome ALL guests, no matter the culture, gender or ethnic origin. This is a safe place for all. Peace and Love.
PLEASE note; I DO allow dogs. I do clean carefully between guests and ask that an extra sheet be used if dogs are here. I supply separate towels for dogs. But I cannot remove every trace and I have dogs myself. So if you are very sensitive, this may not be the right rental for you.
The space
This one room style cabin has been completely updated with a walk-in terrazzo tile shower, glass vessel sink and bamboo floors. Featuring a full kitchen with cherry counter tops, Motawi tile and a two burner cook-top. You'll have all cooking and serving supplies (even fresh coffee and a French Press). And you'll rest well on a queen sized Celeste pillow-top memory foam bed by the fireplace. Find the shelves stocked with books by and about local characters. There are board games and cards too. Didn't finish the book? Take it with you!
I also have a brand new luxury Tiny House, if you want to take a peek at it the listing is: Little House of Leelanau: A Big Little Retreat
You will feel as if you are in a secluded hideaway yet, just minutes away from Omena, Sutton's Bay, Leland and Northport. The local art theater, casino, fishing village, galleries and wineries are just 10 minutes away, and you are only 30 minutes from "America's most beautiful spot" Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes.
Available by the night, weekend, or week. In June through September, you can pick your own blueberries in the meadow, right outside the cabin. There is also fire pit and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking for your boat.
The queen bed sleeps two, but children may use sleeping bags if you wish to bring the family.
I hav just added a Smart TV with ROKU. Our internet speed is not fast, but you can stream movies, etc. weather, news, TV, etc.
Here are just a few local destinations starting from nearest first: Leelanau Sands Casino, Eewaing Native American Museum, Silver Leaf Winery, Raftshol's Vineyards, Tandem Ciders, Tamarack Gallery, Circa Winery, Parallel 45 Winery, Bay Theater, Will Case Jewelry, Eddie's Village Inn, 9 Bean Rows, Martha's Table, Wines and Vines Restaurant, Ciccone Winery, Shady Lane Winery, L Mawby Sparkling Wines, Dick's Pour House, The Happy Hour, Historic Fishtown, Carlson's Fisheries, The Cheese Shop, Leelanau Cheese, Nature's Gems Petoskey Stones, The Blue Bird, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Blu, M22 Store, Fusion and about 20 more wineries! I have posted my favorites in the directory. If you do NOT see a restaurant or winery in there it could be because I do NOT recommend it. Some of the busiest ones are tourist traps. They serve generic frozen meals at high prices and poor service. I will not name them here, but if you do not see them in my directory, that could be why. I have been in the industry and also know which ones are clean. I'm happy to discuss further. Just ask.
Owner lives in separate dwelling on property and is available for extra needs and suggestions. My adult son also lives here, and my fenced dogs, so security is never a problem.
I have just added a Tiny House to my property. It is not visible from the inside of the Studio and it has its own parking, camp fire and outdoor area.
Guest access
There is a large meadow and woods that are for your enjoyment. The fire pit is exclusively for your use. Ask for wood, if you need it. If you have trouble getting it started, I am happy to help. There are snowshoes for use in the winter, and beach equipment in the summer.
*Please be aware that we are recovering from a record-breaking extreme winter. Many trees have fallen and my drive has suffered with potholes and uneven places. The whole community shares these after-effects and there is a waiting list for clean-ups and repairs. I still have a few down or leaning trees and brush piles. I also have a temporary vintage camper that I am renovating for vacationers' use. It not pretty, yet. However, none of this can be seen from The Studio windows. My driveway is always kept passable but it is a gravel two-track, rest assured that once you get to your cabin, the ambiance is lovely!*
