House This is the perfect spot to have a Lake Michigan vacation, directly across from Old Mission Peninsula. The property is wooded; sandy beach and countless perennial gardens. This classy, comfortable, spotless beach house is situated in a beautiful spot on the east side (called East Bay) of Lake Michigan. Lakeshore Road is a wooded, tranquil neighborhood, dead-ending into a private road leading you to a two-tract (no cars are allowed). Here you can walk safely on the road or the beach into Elk Rapids village for fun shopping. The Elk Rapids area is an upscale resort offering many wonderful amenties.
This home is truly one of a kind--with a five star rating. The home was built in 2000 with the vision iof building a lakefront cottage emphasing the charm of a 1900's gathering place for the owner's famuily. This 3,600 sq. ft. home is a cozy, intimate, peaceful setting with a classic touch of beauty displayed in each room. There are three queen size beds, two double beds and bunk beds accommodates twelve people. Bedrooms provides privacy with views of the water.
The house welcomes you the minute you pull into the driveway, past its beautiful flower gardens, tgrimmed lawn and majestic trees. When you walk in the front door, you know you selected the perfect vacation home. You will have expansivje views of Lake Michigan enjoying the incredible displays of blazing colors of orange, red and pink over the lake's horizon. In all of this glory the sunset disapperars leaving a sky full of stars to be enjoyed.
Enjoy the patio surrounded by gardens, while barbecuing your favortie meal on the grill, as the children play in the sand and water. The sandy beach is magnificient. There are no nasty weeds, only the rich sugar sand. Traverse City is 20 minutes south of the house. Traverse City prides itself with theater productions, brew pubs, charter fishing, the Opera House, two movie theaters, chidren's museum, etc.
Cherry Capiitol Airport is 16 miles. Great Lakes Equestrian Festival is 5 miles from the house, located at Flintfields Horse Park. Elk Rapids Golf Course is 2 miles; A-Ga-Ming Golf Course and Grand Traverse Resort Couses are 10 miles. Lochenheath Goilf Course is 6 miles.
Head north for a two mile walk into the quaint, friendly Village of Elk Rapids. The village has antique shops; art galleries; marina is voted #1 for the state of Michigan and fine restaurants to please your palette. Visit our 1901 historical museum at 301 Traverse Street. At the museum, you will learn about the 1846 history of Elk Rapids. This area was notable for industrial companies, three schooner docks for shipping materials, lumbering; then transitioning into potato fields, farming, orchards and vineyards. Then the advent of tourism arrived. We are still third in ther world for cherry production. Walking experiences will take you to the childrens beach park (includes many types of art exhibits) or explore Petobego Lake to the south of your vacation home. Petobego Lake is our local nature perserve, where swans, deer, small animals and wild berries thrive. Nearby is Turtle Creek Casino; check out the many wineries in Leelanu Penninsula and Old Mission Peninsula. Don't forget the historic Mackinaw Isand, the Mackinaw Bridge, and the famous Sleeping Bears Dunes.
