Tamarack has a beautiful gathering room, tastefully decorated in restrained Nantucket style, a place to converse or watch TV. From here, enter the sleek mini-kitchen outside the Great Room. The Great Room, added to the house in the '90s, has a 22-foot stone fireplace, sit-upon hearth, plank floors, soaring ceilings and a expansive glazed-brick veranda where Adirondack chairs line up to take in the water view. This magnificent room is divided into areas: a banquet table, a writing area, two sitting areas with off-white couches, a British West Indies armoire housing the TV, and 1830s mahogany horseshoe counter for laying out a buffet, or locating your laptops *WiFi throughout.

You may feel inspired to write your memoirs here under the watchful eye of the Sable Antelope on the fireplace. Ship stairs lead to a carpeted loft overlooking the gigantic room. A wall of sliders open to the large brick patio, offering a flow and ease of indoor-outdoor living, with mature estate plantings and towering pines.

The fantastic main kitchen has a vaulted beamed ceiling with six skylights and excellent task lighting for cooking. Wood floors, mahogany countertops, and top quality appliances make this two-sink, two-dishwasher, three-oven, bountifully-stocked and meticulous kitchen a place to spend all your time. The chefs will appreciate our Thermador ProHarmony gourmet gas range with Faber pro hood, Miele MasterChef double convection oven, Sub Zero glass door refrigerator. Miele and Bosch dishwashers make cleaning-up painless. We supply a classic Kitchen Aid stand mixer, Cuisinart food processor, Keurig coffeemaker (2) plus drip coffeemaker, French Press and Pour-over (Melitta) coffee carafe and funnel and filters. You may want to spend your entire time in the kitchen. Step out the French doors into the sunny courtyard to snip some herbs or turn to go to the brick barbeque patio with its Weber gas grill plus Weber Kettle charcoal grill and stress-removing lake view.

The bedrooms are pleasant and thoughtfully decorated. Master bedroom queen with luxury bath. First floor bedroom queen with adjacent new shower bathroom (very accessible for those more accessibility.) Lakefront rooms with 2 double beds may change to a different configuration in 2017. King lakefront bedroom has extra twin bed in room. Loft over part of Great room is carpeted with 2 stacked twin mattresses, which can be separated for two, stacked for one, or pushed aside for sleeping bags.

Tamarack has a private boat dock with jet ski ramp, a sandy beach, a boathouse with all-glass boathouse doors, with the lake lapping at the edge of the boathouse -- an exciting location in itself. Kayaks, a canoe, floats, and water toys are supplied.

For those considering accessibility in case a dear one isn't as mobile as in the past, most of the home's features are at-grade. The slope down to the water is an easy stroll and there is a secondary driveway down by the dock that enables access by car.

The circular driveway allows multiple vehicles to navigate through the park-like setting, and there is space for an event tent and caterers' vans. (On a case-by-case basis, we will consider very small weddings. Most neighbors aren't keen on weddings as sound is amplified by the lake and conversations 200 feet away can be heard, which is surprising.)

Summer of 2017

A wonderful lake property with private beach. Glorious sunsets over the lake facing the property's expansive back deck and view. Several kayaks, a canoe, and sunfish are available for use on the 3-mile long lake. The private beach includes floating docks, a raft, and a small location for evening bon fires and s'mores! The home's interior amenities are second to none with a large, well-appointed kitchen, a large cathedral-ceilinged great room for games and relaxation, and 5 bedrooms to accommodate large families. Owners quickly reacted whenever issues came up, and were very easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this property to large families looking for a place to both relax and to enjoy a full range of lake activities.

This property is incredible

I can't say enough positive things about this property. We were a large group of 16 people: 13 adults, one of whom was disabled, and 3 small children. We ranged in age from 70 down to 1.5 yrs. This property is incredible and the furnishings and appointments of both the grounds and home exceeded our expectations. This was my first experience with VRBO and I was apprehensive about a sight-unseen rental but my concerns vanished the moment we stepped into the house--WOW!!! The property and appointments reflect a care and thoughtfulness that are apparent throughout the house and grounds. I enjoy cooking and all I can say about the kitchen is BRAVO!!!-BRAVO!!!-BRAVO!!!. My friend from Germany commented that if he and his wife ever build another house the kitchen will be just like this. The only problem we had was trying to remember where everything went after we used it.😀 We really enjoyed gathering in the kitchen and chatting amongst ourselves as we prepared the various meals. My favorite was an evening meal with a light rain falling outside. We had opened the French doors and had soft music playing in the background. The cooking aromas, the wines, the quiet murmurs of conversation punctuated by laughter and the enjoyment of our common friendship made it a special memory for me The Great Room was an added bonus for our "family gatherings and meals." 16 people all sitting at 1 table and enjoying the company of one another is a memory I'll always cherish. As a humorous aside, the butler pantry adjoins the Great Room and we decided to move the toaster from the kitchen to the pantry to facilitate the breakfast flow in the morning. Until we got the toaster settings dialed in we managed to set the smoke-alarm off several times and got to witness 3 small kids running for the doors as they evacuated the house. Thankfully it wasn't wired in to the local fire department or we would have been on a first-name basis with all the firefighters within a few days. We had a couple of very minor issues that were immediately addressed but they in way impacted our enjoyment of this stunning property. Robin has done an exceptional job with this property and conducts her business with the highest professional standards. I would recommend this property to anyone and hope that we'll be able to come back someday.

Amazing Rental Property

Tamarack Lake Estate is a fantastic place to spend a week with a large group. The location is stellar, the house is beautiful and extremely well equipped, and the privacy is perfect. We stayed here with extended family after my son's wedding. We could not have had a better week with a multi-generational group. The facilities were excellent: a quiet terrace for the oldies, kayaks and private beach for the youngsters, and a great patio for bringing the group together to welcome the evening in. A definite gold star rating for this rental!

Ladies Getaway

What a beautiful home. Perfect for our ladies getaway. Nothing like enjoying a cup of coffee out on the porch overlooking the lake in the morning. Cozy and comfy rooms, outstanding kitchen, and spacious meeting areas and enough bathrooms to accommodate our group. Loved the great room! Would love to come back again some day with the family. Definitely would recommend!! Thanks again Robin for a wonderful stay!

Our Spring Trip

What a lovely, peaceful, picturesque location. Every room is so tastefully decorated and inviting. The home was way to big for us, only my husband, myself and our little fur baby Bodie Boy but what a wonderful time we had. The bed was super comfortable and we all slept like logs. My husband decided to throw his line in the water off the dock one afternoon and wouldn't you know he caught a huge perch! If it was warmer out we would have ventured out on the lake to do some fishing. Great location, away from busy roads but yet close to shopping, historical sites and places to eat. Would love to come back one day, thanks so much Robin!

60th birthday extravaganza

We celebrated my 60th birthday at tamarack. The home is exquisite, a perfect home to celebrate a milestone event. Close family and friends enjoyed the home as well as the beautiful surroundings. The younger kids had a blast using the canoe, the adults enjoyed sitting at the pond enjoying the peacefulness. My grandson refered to the house as grandmas party house, he's right, a perfect party house. The great room is indeed, great! We enjoyed our time at tamarack making memories with family and friends. Would love to make this an annual event!

Perfect and Peaceful

As soon as you step into the home and see the view - love at first sight! We had a large group, four separate couples, as well as two teen/young adults and everyone was more than comfortable. In fact, we had extra sleeping space that we didn't use. There was more than enough space to relax alone in peace as well as incredibly inviting large spaces to gather together comfortably. The kitchen is a dream, so much light and that view...have I mentioned the view?! We spent a lot of time together in the kitchen and in the gorgeous great room. We even invited extended local family over for dinner one night and still had plenty of space to be comfortable. Everyone who entered the house, marveled. There was so much thoughtfulness put into even the minor details of each room, making the home extra extraordinary. The property is breathtaking and even though it was a bit too cold and windy to use the boats, it was nice to know they were there. The location worked perfectly for us to travel between Boston and Newport. We had such a wonderful time, made such great memories, and look forward to coming back!

A Dream Come True

From the moment we stepped through the kitchen door, we felt welcomed. All the lights were glowing, classical music was playing and the house sparkled. As we walked through each room, we marveled at the decor and details. Robin has created many truly unique spaces throughout the house, each with its own character and charm. Our family made memorable meals in the kitchen, which is beyond fabulous. There were plenty of stores nearby for collecting ingredients and spirits for our nightly celebrations. Lighting the fireplace every night created such a cozy place for all of us to gather, play cards and board games and just enjoy each other. And when it was time for bed, everyone could tuck into a cozy, comfy bedroom. Plenty of accommodations for all. We loved exploring the property and even took the canoe out since the weather was so unseasonably warm. The array of crafts in the boat house and the private sand beach would make this a fabulous local for a summer visit!! We made many magical memories on our visit to Tamarack Lake. We will definitely rent this home again.

A charming house with a beautiful view.

My family had the pleasure of spending Christmas week at this property. As people arrived from California, Washington D.C., Maryland and various parts of Massachusetts we all found something to love about our vacation rental. Mairead went kayaking on a balmy Christmas Eve and the dog went swimming, Brett and Jerry appreciated the wet bar--or I should say wet room--and we all, happily, took turns cooking in the fabulous kitchen with its 3 ovens and 2 dishwashers. The Christmas tree never looked so beautiful as it did standing tall in the Great Room where we congregated around the roaring fire in the "now this is what I'm talking about" fireplace. And the dining table was so big and comfortable for eating and for conversation--we lingered for hours. It's a charming house with a beautiful view of the lake. I've already recommended it to 2 friends.

Fantastic home, look no further and rent this one

We were a group of adults over 50, no kids with us and we love to vacation together. We're all home owners with lovely houses of our own; so our standards are high. This house made EVERYONE happy. Couldn't ask for a more gorgeous place. ZERO complaints. We all loved being together preparing great dinners and this kitchen was fantastic. Every appliance. Double dishwashers and ovens. All high end. What a great house for entertaining with the fully equipped wet bar. Large dining table in the Great room. SO much space. Lots of comfortable beds. Lots of space. Great house for sharing with your friends, The water front is amazing. The clean water, all of the amenities, the campfire, kayaks. Just everything you want. The public beach 5 minutes away is also beautiful and clean. You can walk the beach for miles. You will love this home. Look no further and rent this one. A GEM.

Beautiful, well-maintained lakeside property

this is a lovely, exceptionally well maintained property. the house is spacious, comfortable, and furnished with taste. it was able to accommodate our party of 10 -- comprising 2 families, with ages spanning the range 8 to 88 -- with ease. the lakeside property is large, quiet, pleasantly landscaped, and affords privacy. in our week at the house, we never felt cramped, uncomfortable, or at a loss for something to do. the children and younger adults spent uncounted hours near, in and on the water. both young and old enjoyed reading, talking, and relaxing in the house or on the large terrace overlooking the lake. the private beach is sandy, the water is clean and clear. there is a raft about 30 yards from shore. the boathouse shelters 4 kayaks, a canoe, and a sunfish, all in good working order, and all of which we used frequently. the kitchen merits special mention. it is is flooded with light from windows on all 4 sides, has high ceilings, and is equipped with modern, high-end appliances. it was a pleasure preparing meals there. we were never at a loss for utensils or equipment, simple or otherwise.

Fabulous!

We attended a wedding in Peggotty Beach and stayed in Robin's fabulous home. Even better than the pictures! This house was so well appointed it was beyond belief!!! High end appliances comfortable beds, beautifully decorated. We enjoyed coming "home" to our little paradise every evening and only wished that we would have had more time there! Robin is very accommodating and has impeccable taste!! We look forward to coming again. Thanks again Robin for the memorable stay!

Wonderful vacation retreat!

We stayed at this beautiful home for our family reunion this summer and it couldn't have been a better choice. From the minute you arrive, the house and property welcome you to relax and unwind. The view is amazing. The house is immaculate, incredibly well maintained and stocked with everything you might need. Plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, 3 kayaks and a canoe; several firepits (nothing like smores for dessert); wonderful lake views from the deck as well as some of the bedrooms. The kitchen has everything you could want to whip up great meals; even the 2 dishwashers came in handy. There is also a Weber gas grill available for guests. Even with houses nearby, there is great privacy. You have a private lakefront beach and the water is clean and refreshing. The lake is quite large and gave everyone quite a good workout during our frequent kayak trips. There is also a beautiful bike trail close by that runs along side the Cape Cod Canal (you would want to drive to it). Even though you're not quite on the Cape, Sandwich is just over the bridge with lots to do and as long as you avoid the weekends, bridge traffic was not bad. We had wonderful meals at the Daniel Webster Inn and the Sagamore Inn Restaurant. Golf is not far away, either. But most of the week, we just relaxed at the house and enjoyed all it had to offer. When indoors, there are 2 nice areas to congregate in. There is a comfortable brightly lit living area right next to the kitchen. When it rained, this is where we relaxed with comfortable seats for reading and a nice table next to the french doors for the poor individuals who actually had to do some work. Each night, we would congregate in the great room. This is a more formal room with darker woods and tones. Plenty of seating around the TV and a big table for board games. Also, a wonderful game area with a semi-circular bar where those interested in playing poker and blackjack could hang out. Something for everyone, including a loft sleeping area where my teenage son hunkered down for the week in his "man cave". Robin, the owner, was very helpful and receptive. One night, a sudden storm took the patio umbrella out of its stand and broke one of the spokes. I called her in the morning and by afternoon, we had a replacement. She has wonderful staff caring for the property and truly cares that her guests have a wonderful time. We would without a doubt come back to this beautiful house. It was a wonderful, memorable family vacation.

Perfect "Pond"

Tamarack Lake Estate is a magical spot. Everyone of our big group of family and friends (all ages) felt completely at home, yet completely transported to a very special resort. The owners have thought of everything, and attend immediately to any request. We first visited two years ago and were thrilled with our "find". This year, Tamarack was even better, though I wouldn't have thought that possible. We hope to return every year; Tamarack has a very special place in our hearts.

15 family members

Our family has taken group vacations for the past 30 years with various age group members we have experienced cruises, house rentals, camping, and time share units. This past year we ranged from 4 to 69 years old and every single one of us considered this to be the ultimate vacation experience. The home was more than we had ever dreamed it could be, from size, comfort, serving pieces, gourmet kitchen, the ideal setting to the gracious hosts--you can not find better. You would be hard pressed to find an equal for all of the positive things found at this site. Every age group found relaxation and/or things to do as they saw fit. The lake provided ample experiences for grandson fishing, granddaughters swimming, kayaking for all, canoe trips for grammy and pop-pop;quiet places to read for all. In addition the golfing and sightseeing was spectacular. Whale watching provided one less item for the "bucket list" as no less than 15 different humpback whales were spotted less than 20 feet from the ship. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated as guests. Following our visit we inquired about some ceramic pieces that we saw at the house and would like to get for our home. Robin not only provided the information about them but offered to purchase and send them to us as a thank you for the stay. They did everything possible to make our stay a lifelong positive memory. I would wholeheartedly recommend Tamarack Estate as the ultimate vacation experience.

Exquisite

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing house with my family! It was perfect for our large group. Every amenity imaginable was included from utensils in the kitchen to outdoor recreation. Our children will forever remember the lake, and as adults we loved our time on the deck! Thank you Robin for your suggestions and helping to make our family vacation so memorable. We hope to come back to your gorgeous estate!

Perfect girls' weekend getaway

We had our annual girls' weekend at Tamarack Lake Estate and it couldn't have been more perfect! The house is absolutely beautiful, even better than the pictures. Everything we needed was there, immaculately clean and even the linens smelled good. We mentioned to Carl that we liked the firepit and wanted to make s'mores one night. The next thing we knew he had setup an extra adirondack chair and bought us some firewood. And Robin was totally accommodating from everything to arrival and checkout time to ensuring we paid only a small cleaning fee. I can't wait to rent some of Robin's other properties.

Thanksgiving 2011

We walked through the door hoping for the best...at least as good as the pictures, but found it even better. Our family from as faraway as California & Missouri spent the Thanksgiving week at TLE, and it worked beautifully. Close to Plymouth (we had Thanksgiving dinner at Plimoth Plantation), Cape Cod, Marthas' Vineyard and more. The weather was perfect, allowing for some kayaking, and walks. Some pictures do not do it justice. The 'gathering room' is far more cozy than it appears, and the downstairs bedroom is a charm. It was a special Holiday. Thank you Robin, Barbara

Amazing Property for Family Gathering

I have to tell you how much our family enjoyed your beautiful home at Tamarack. I miss it already. We could not have been more comfortable. As family members gathered they all raved about the accommodations and the setting. Sometimes it can be difficult to share a house with different generations, but not at Tamarack. The home is so spacious, with so many sitting areas inside and out, that everyone was able to relax and truly enjoy their time. When we wanted to gather together, the great room and the deck were perfect. We had wonderful days at the beach and on the lake and lovely nights by the fire-pit on the patio. The canoe and kayaks were instant fun and my 2 year old grandson enjoyed feeding the ducks. Speaking of feeding… feeding the people could have been quite a challenge, but your spacious and well-equipped kitchen made food prep and clean-up a snap. The stove was a big hit with everyone and I also really appreciated all the sinks and dishwashers. We were so fortunate that the weather cleared on Saturday for our event. The setting was perfect. We were able to set our table for 30 on the deck. (We used vintage napkins and family owned unique tea cups for the chowder!) There was plenty of room and it was so intimate and special. The caterers you suggested prepared a wonderful dinner for us and as dusk turned to evening we dined to the soft sounds of 40’s French jazz. A perfect family celebration! Thank you,

Fine Family Visit

The house is even better than the pictures. A perfect place to spend time with family. Enough room for everyone to be together *or* be by themselves when they need to be. We loved kayaking and canoeing, and hanging around the docks enjoying the wonderful early September weather. We had a great time cooking dinners for the family and enjoying them in the great room. Surf (from a local fish market) and Turf grilled on the fantastic Weber with fine wine and great conversation. Wonderful fires in the patio area with smores for all! The first 'full' family vacation in over 20 years - we had three generations and had a wonderful time. Would love to return.

Tamarack Lake Estate

Our party of ten included all ages...toddler, teen-agers, parents, and grandparents. Tamarack Lake Estate suited us perfectly as a base for our week long vacation on Cape Cod. Even though we spent time away from our "base", we all looked forward to our return to the luxurious spot on Great Herring Pond. Everything you could imagine was provided for our comfort; and when a couple of mechanical issues occurred, Robin had them fixed and/or replaced the very same day. The secluded neighborhood lent itself to privacy that you never get at a resort. Groceries, drug store, liquor store were all conveniently located less than a mile away. We loved having access to Sagamore Beach and the privacy it afforded. Thank you Robin and John for providing such a perfect vacation spot for our first Cape experience. We will definitely recommend and return.

What a deal!

A nice (and affordable) house on Cape Cod, big enough to accommodate the 10 of us – that was what we were LOOKING for… A spacious and fully equipped kitchen to prepare one of our famously lavish dinners and maybe a nice little terrace where we could spend a quiet evening together – that was what we were HOPING for…. An unpleasant surprise here or there was what we were AFRAID OF before we finally got there… BUT: A perfect weekend in the most wonderful lakeside home is what we GOT – complete with all the space we needed, cozy bedrooms, a perfectly equipped kitchen, fire places, a beautiful deck, direct access to the lake and nothing but pleasant surprises…! Staying at Tamarack Lake Estate was a weekend in heaven and we will definitely come back! The Team of the Austrian Trade Commission NY

The Tamarack Lake House

The Tamarack Lake House is stunning. There are so many different living spaces - the outdoor breakfast nook, the dock and beach (what a view), the huge back deck, the great room, and more - we didn't even want to leave the house during our stay. Circle the lake in a canoe, grill a fish, make smores around the firepit, and you've got yourself a perfect day. Couldn't have asked for more!
