You know its great when nobody wants to leave

Toward the end of his stay at the House by the Sea our five year old grandson told his parents to buy the house. When we asked him why he said, "So many doors, so many rooms." Meanwhile our three year old grand daughter couldn't seem to stop running and smiling. In their way they were expressing how we all felt- so much space for us all, all generations, to come together and have fun without feeling crowded. We noticed how all the adults would ask each morning why we felt so wonderfully rested. Was it the beds, the sea air, the rhythm of breaking surf? All of it. And as a waking bonus each morning starts with birdsong. (I actually looked at one bed to find out its secret and found TWO mattress toppers fitted over the mattress and thought that's something to try at home!). We knew that arriving on June 3 would be pushing it for a summertime experience but we learned in the Cape area the sun pops out more often than the forecasts predict. When it rained we enjoyed sitting with a book by the fire and looking up now and then to watch the color of the sea change beyond the bluff. We like to cook and got to use an Aga stove! You know its great when nobody wants to leave.

Always a wonderful experience!

I have rented several of Robin's properties and I must say that I find it very difficult to select a favorite. House by the Sea is no exception. This property is perfectly located by the sea - great for hanging out on the beach in the summer and perfect for walking on the beach in the winter. All places are beautifully decorated, and comfortably furnished. Every amenity that you need is included . I love to cook so I certainly appreciate the completeness of the kitchen - from appliances and cooking utensils to dinnerware and stemware - always top notch and high end. Location is perfect too for side trips to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and all over beautiful Cape Cod. Thank you for another wonderful vacation.

House by the Sea

House by the Sea was perfect! It was exactly what my mom would have loved! Unfortunately we stayed in the house for my mother's funeral but it was a perfect set up for my family and the owners could not have been more accommodating. The view was amazing, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen and nook area were our favorite. And cannot forget the fire pit that over looked the ocean and one night viewed the blood moon...We had everything we needed and could not have been more happy during this difficult time. We plan to come back! Thank you Robin for making us feel at home.

We could not have asked for a better house or location! House is very clean and Robin has modernized it without taking away from it's charm. House sits on the bluff with great views of the ocean, from the porch to the bedrooms. House has games for the kids, swing, firepit and a great outdoor shower. We could not have asked for more. I would highly recommend this house.

Wonderful Place for Families!

I am late writing this review and was hoping to see an opening this summer but we're too late. We live in Texas and stayed there last summer with my family, my sister's family and our mother, a total of 11 of which 6 were children. This was a coming home reunion for us as I spent many summers there at my grandparents home and where my father/mother grew up. The home was absolutely perfect! Plenty of space, nicely decorated and great views. The weather was great and the beach was fabulous. Even swam out to House Rock like the good old days! The water was cold but whatever! The neighbors embraced us and we had cocktails on the bluff many nights. Highly recommend for your family. Robin was great to work with making our arrangements and answering all our questions. Hopefully, we can make it back next summer!

Another wonderful stay!

We just came back from another wonderful stay at The House by the Sea. As in prior years, the house was very comfortable for a multi-generational group (grandparents through grandchildren ranging from 2 to 12), providing everything needed to make all ages happy - very clean, comfortable furniture, good wi-fi, upgraded bathrooms (with good water pressure and enough hot water to handle large post-beach groups), new and well-stocked kitchen, and of course the porch swing! The kitchen is fully stocked with a wide range of pots, pans and utensils (including oyster shucking knives and lobster crackers) and more than enough plates, glasses and flatware to handle dinner for a 17-plus person crowd one night. The patio outside the kitchen has both a gas grill and a charcoal grill, for grill purists. The house maintains its charm along with its modern comforts and the long front porch and big windows can't be improved on for catching the ocean breezes and beautiful views, with the added benefit of a screened side porch. We did not need it this year, but the air conditioning is a nice option to have in case of really hot, still weather. We appreciated the well-stocked beach gear, with umbrellas, beach chairs, buckets and shovels for the little children, boogie boards for the older children and a kayak. For people looking at the house with little children, we have been in the house with children as young as 1 and had no problems - even the stairs to the beach are fine, as there are several landings for breaks if you are carrying a young child up and down. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly and lovely for runs and walks. The beach is really wonderful, and similar to the bay-side Cape beaches, has a long shallow stretch at low tide that is perfect for young children, while it is more than deep enough at high tide for tall adults to swim comfortably. There is a farm a short drive away for fresh herbs and vegetables, a good grocery store about a 10 minute drive away in the Pinehills, and lots of local ice cream places a short walk away. We will be back again next year and dreaming about it - the swing, the porch, the beach and everything - until we arrive!

Truly Special

This is a wonderful house, with soul, charm, and whatever you need for comfortable living. Thoughtfully furnished and stocked. We loved the idyllic porch to watch the changing sky, water, and just talk. A lovely place to spend time with old friends. A week none of us will ever forget. Thanks, Robin.

Family of Eleven Fabulous Adventure Vacation

Dear Robin, It has been very hectic getting back to work and catching up after a week’s vacation, but I did want to write to you. Our family had such a marvelous time at The House by the Sea! The kids, big and small, truly loved going to the beach at low tide looking for starfish and hermit crabs. It was the type of adventure that we wanted them to have. They had several evenings of “discovery”. We had no idea there were two high tides and low tides every day. The sunsets and sunrises were so colorful and made for some fabulous photo opportunities. Our son, was able to actually carry my 100 pound, 90 year old Mother, down and up the beach stairs, so she was able to share the beach time with us. We met some of your neighbors on the stairs and they could not believe what they were seeing. We found everything we needed for cooking. Your kitchen is well stocked and it was greatly appreciated. Having the sheets and towels available for our use was great. We tried to help out by stripping the beds and collecting the towels we used, putting them by the washing machine the morning we left. We had a campfire a couple nights and the kids enjoyed hot dogs and some-mores. We went whale watching, drove the whole Cape on the rainy day, went to Plimouth Plantation and enjoyed the beach and each other in your beautiful home. The tree swing was a big hit for everyone. Even my Mom had a great time swinging on it. The porch swing was enjoyed by all and the views from the house were amazing. It was also wonderful to have the screened in porch and the dining room that had seating enough for all 11 of us. What a nice plus that was. We would highly recommend this home away from home. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Perfect Vacation House

My husband and I absolutely fell in love with the House by the Sea! From the moment we arrived we were taken away by the amazing views and the attention to detail within the house. We felt instantly relaxed. We were ready to move in -- the house is so charming and comfortable! It is apparent how much thought Robin put into making her guest's experiences lovely and memorable. We loved the well equipped kitchen -- one of the nicest that we have seen in a vacation rental. We enjoyed cocktail hour on the porch in the evening -- both rain or shine! Thank you for the recommendation to try the Lobster Pound -- delicious! While we were staying at the house we enjoyed walks on the beach, whale watching, exploring the cape and just relaxing on the porch and listening to the ocean. We'll be back!

"House of the Sea" Lover

This is our second visit to this charming home with our "pet family". It is beyond charming inside but more importantly is the breathtaking ocean view sitting endlessly before your eyes - left, right and center-simply sea. Looking from the exquisite farmer's porch it almost appears like you are on an ocean cruise (minus the disasters and sea sickness). Robin is so attentive to your needs and immediately answers your phone messaging and call backs. The private beach is immaculate and totally quiet The water is clear to the sand much like Myrtle Beach. Thanks Robin for giving us the opportunity to visit your beautiful home. We'll be back!

Unforgettable Experience

I know I should have written this a couple of years back after our visit, I do apologies Robin! We were the last ones of the season to stay in this beautiful beachside home; we were there for one week on our Canadian Thanksgiving, Mid October 2010. Robin had some concerns with our heat source as there is no central heating for winter stays. No worries with that, I don’t even think we turned on an electric heater. The house was equipped with a gas fireplace but nightly we would have a fire outside and sip our red wine, tell stories of the days explorations and listen intently to the ocean below. What a fantastic house this was to stay in, we were very fortunate be able to enjoy such a great house and as luck would have it, the weather was absolutely amazing the whole week, side from the last night, where a very heavy wind storm rolled in. I battened down the hatches, moved all the outside furnishings into the garage and the seat cushions into the house. The hurricane force winds did absolutely nothing to this solid structure, lots of creaking going on but nothing else. My wife and I wanted to give her Mother a holiday to remember, she had never travelled to the Eastern shores of the US, and it was just the 3 of us in this large home, what a treat. Afterwards we spent a week in New York City at the Park Plaza for a further 7 days; I consider the two places on the same plan only much different environments, five stars all the way. My Mother in-law got ill shortly after our trip and has since passed away, this was to be our last trip together and neither me nor my wife would have a changed a thing. Thank you Robin, you have such a flare for designing that it immediately draws you into to a comfort zone of being home. My wife and I still speak of our journey and hope to one day return.

Great family getaway

We arrived at the House by the Sea and were abosolutely amazed at the beautiful setting and breathtaking ocean view. We were a large group of 12 and all fit very comfortably in the house, the 3 bathrooms are a plus! We so enjoyed getting up early to sit on the porch with our coffee and watch the sunrise. The children practically lived on the beach, which was never crowded. The stairs to the beach are long, but sturdy and not difficult to navigate - you do get your exercise! We did enjoy a lobster feast from the Lobster Pound which is not far from the house. The location is great - we took a few day trips into Plymouth and also went out to the Cape, everything is so close by. The house itself is beautiful, a true classic. It was fully stocked with everything you'd need for a week's stay. We'd definitely book again, thanks Robin!

Family and Friends together!

What can I say? When my sister-in-law said she wanted to go whale watching, it was her only thing on the "bucket list", I was in!! Robin, your house and property and everything that came with it was amazing!! We had a more than wonderful time and it exceeded our expectations. I am looking at VRBO for other properties in other locations, but using yours as a standard is not easy. I would definitely recommend the "House by the Sea" to anyone wishing for an amazing and relaxing get away! Don't let the steps to the beach intimidate you. Hopefully, we will be back again.

Superb location!

Aside from the breathtaking view, this home is a perfect location for a summer vacation. It is nestled away from traffic and noise, but is close enough to the essentials (grocery store, coffee shop, ice cream shop) to walk. Yet the restaurants and activies of Plymouth are close enough for a quick trip. Better yet, the Lobster Pound is nearby and will have your lobsters steamed and ready for you to pick up at the time you request. Great lobster, bisques, fresh fish, etc.The home is very comfortable and accommodating of a large famiy and/or friends. The front porch is a great gathering place for watching the sun rise, or with a glass of wine at dusk. The view is spectacular, and if forces relaxation. The beach is nice and we never experienced anything close to a crowd there. Younger children love to catch the hermit crabs that inhabit the shallow water. Families bring their dogs, play horseshoes and volleyball, and enjoy the atmosphere. Thanks, Robin, for sharing this wonderful property and for all of the thoughtful touches you add. We cannot wait to return!

What a fantastic place "House by the Sea" is!! This was our first time visiting the Cape and your home was the perfect place to spend the week! This house was perfect for our family as we all had private space when we needed it. The special touch of a note to welcome us to your home started our stay off nicely. We loved the front porch swing, especially in the mornings to watch the sun come up. What a great location for anything and everything you could want to do; shopping, Martha's Vineyard, have it all. Thanks for a great vacation!! The Sandman Family

We went to House by the Sea for the first family vacation in years. There was 9 of us and there was so much to see and do that we were amazed. The kitchen was amazing and we had our meals on the enclosed porch. For those who were book lovers, we had an opportunity to read by the sea and enjoy the sea air. We hope to have an opportunity to visit again one day. Thanks again.

I could not begin to say enough about our stay at "House by the Sea" We arrived late from the Boston Airport. When we drove up and saw the house lit up against the night sky it was such a welcoming sight. They had left every single light on in the house I think. Every lamp! It felt so welcoming! Our group was 8 Pastor's wives who go somewhere different every year to "recharge!" This house was perfect for that. It had plenty of bathrooms and plenty of space! Everything written in the web site is true. You will NOT be disappointed renting this place. We spent two days just enjoying the house and the surroundings! Robin and John are wonderful people who are there in a flash if you encounter any problem. I want to return with my family now! Thanks Robin and John. We loved your house and loved meeting you!

As the other comments indicate, this house is fabulous! It is better than the pictures show -- the view just cannot be captured accurately in a photo. It is a very special place and is perfect for a family gathering. The owners have done a great job making the house comfortable for guests and insuring you have a great experience there. They live nearby and are very responsive if there is any question or issue. We hope to experience House by the Sea again in the future!

The house and location are even more gorgeous than the photos show - plenty of room for our family of 4 adults and 4 kids under 6. We had a wonderful time on the huge wraparound porch, the rope swing, the hammock, the adirondack chairs. When the tide is out there is amazing beachcombing, and the view is spectacular. This is the best house by far that we saw on all of our walks and drives in the area, and Manomet beats the pants off the Cape for natural beauty. The house is located in a gorgeous hilly neighborhood of friendly people, and Robin and John have decorated it and renovated it beautifully while staying true to its original character. We had a magical vacation at the House by the Sea, everything we had hoped for.
