Best Location of all our stays in Kona.
Our party of 3 stayed in the Hale Pono condo for 5 days and we really liked it We visit the Big Island through the years & stayed in numerous places. Some on the beach, in town and as far as in Captain Cook. Each has its pros and cons but we like to be close to town but not have the noise. Usually stay in a studio/1 bedroom, but this time we needed an additional bedroom which the previous places don't offer. The Hale Pono is well situated & updated nicely with modern fans, kitchen & is located within the Palani Condo complex. It is close to the main strip, the Kona Brewery, shops, groceries, the shore, all within walking distance. The condo is on a 2nd floor. No elevator (so if you have alot of luggage, going up the 2 flight of stairs may be an issue). The complex itself is well maintained, has a communal pool & an outdoor grill but the beach is 2 blocks away & all the Hawaiian Onolicious foods in the area, I doubt one will use them. Its a two bdrm unit with full kitchen & a mini breakfast nook in place of a dining table. Free wi-fi as well. Each room & bdrms has remote control fans which keep the room cool. One AC in the living room. If it gets too hot, one can keep the bedroom door open & the AC cool eventually goes into the bdrms. The fans were fine. The lanai is accessible from the living room & offers a nice room of the ocean which is about 800 feet away. The unit is equipped with all sorts of beach stuff to use. Each bedroom has a large bed (quite comfy) & plenty of storage space. The rooms are average in size for the Kona area. They provide an outstanding visitors book with info of the Kona area. Not even the Marriot down the street has one. A free parking space is provides a parking place for free. We arrived and there was a scheduling cleaning issue & the room was not ready. (Usual housekeeper had an emergency) so the owners David and Elaine put us up in the Marriot down the block and personally came to address the issue themselves. Considering that they live across the island, I found that to be a really nice touch and dedication to their renters. The next morning we found the unit ready for use. I've stayed at the Marriot previously and even on the waterfront, the noise and the beds are nothing to praise. The Hale Pono on the other hand, the beds are way more comfy & the unit does not have the noise even being situated close to Palani road, plus it is a third of the price. Only complaint is that we wish we would have stayed longer.

Perfect Condo, Great location
We were two couples staying together for a week. Found the condo to be roomy enough for us. Location is fabulous, short walk to the beach ,restaurants and shopping. Especially enjoyed the proximity to the Kona Brewing company which we found to be a great place for dinner. The lanai is a perfect spot to have morning coffee and watch sunsets in the evening. The condo is equipped with beach towels and umbrellas which we found very handy. Also local honey and coffee supplied by the owners was a very nice touch. Would definitely recommend this condo and would stay again. Stayed February 2017

Comfortable, nice amenities
We enjoyed our stay at this location very much. The condo is well equipped, is very comfortable and is in the perfect location for adventures both North and South on the Kona side. The owners are very nice and are easy to work with. We would recommend this condo for anyone wanting to visit the big island.

Great location, great condo, COMFY beds!
This condo was in the perfect location of Kona! You are within walking distance to some of my favorite spots (Scandinavian Shaved Ice, Holy Donut) and for those of you who like to workout on vacation like me, you are right across the street from "The Club" and the weekly pass is very affordable and they have decent equipment and space for a Hawaiian island gym. You are also within easy driving distance to lots of other great restaurants and easy access to the main highway if you are driving to Hilo or the north part of the island. The beds are so COMFY!!! I will say if you are someone who needs a very cool room to sleep in, this condo is not for you. The condo was a very good A/C unit in the living room that keeps the common area very cool but in the bedrooms the A/C doesn't really make it over there. Something to consider if you like sleeping in a very cool bedroom. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms were just fine for us. LOVELY condo!!! I would definitely stay there again :)

This is your home away from home. A cozy, newly remodeled, two bedroom, one bath condo located two blocks from the ocean in the Heart of downtown Kailua-Kona.
The second story location affords views of the ocean, mountain side, and Kailua Town, while catching the cool ocean breezes. On the extra warm days, the air-conditioner will help you chill out.
The living area has a sofa, two chairs with ottomans, and a coffee table, with a view onto the lanai and the blue Pacific beyond.
Relax on the lanai with your morning coffee, evening cocktail, or any mealtime (actually, anytime you'd like).
The living room and main bedroom both have flat screen TVs. A DVD player and an assortment of DVDs are provided for your viewing pleasure.
You will find a roomy king size bed in main bedroom, along with a dresser and full mirrored closet doors. Just outside are colorful, flowering Plumeria trees, and ocean breezes waft through your open window.
The second bedroom offers a queen size bed, also with dresser and full mirrored closet doors, and a tropical garden view.
There are ceiling fans throughout the home, including the kitchen, which is usually all you'll need to stay cool.
A fully equipped kitchen, and super markets within walking distance, will allow you to dine in, saving you both time and money that you can spend, instead, on your Island Adventures.
The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with a bench seat. We encourage you to save water and shower with a friend!
A short walk through the nicely landscaped grounds will lead you to the pool pavilion, where you can swim, or relax in a lounge chair, working on your Hawaiian tan. Here, you will also find picnic tables and a gas BBQ for grilling your freshly caught Ahi steaks.
Because you're so close to everything, you won't even need to rent a car until you're ready to go off and explore the rest of the Island. In less than a five minute walk, you've reached beautiful, historic, Kamakahonu ('the turtle eye') Beach. The calm waters make this a safe spot for both children and adults alike. It's a popular beach with snorkeling and kayaking and you can rent such equipment right there. Adjacent to the beach is the Kailua Pier, the jump off point for several boating tours. From here you can also stroll down Ali'i Drive, which is lined with shops, galleries, restaurants, museums, night clubs, farmer's market, parks, and more beaches.
The World Famous Kona Brewing Co. is also just a five minute walk away. They offer a variety of micro brews that you won't find in any store, often with live music, and a delicious menu for your dining pleasure.
Many people find Kailua Town offers enough activities to keep them entertained for several days of their vacation.
Must see Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea Observatory Visitors Center, Waipio Valley Overlook, Old Hilo Town, South Point (most southern point in the United States)
