Honoka'a is at the northern end of the Hamakua coast, in an area known as the 'banana belt' - lots of sun. King, Steven Stills, etc.). There's a super market if you don't want to make the hour drive (beautiful!) to Costco. And if you do go to Costco, there's a large freezer and a pantry cabinet to store everything. On Sundays, the Hamakua market is a few minutes away, offering avocados for 1., papayas for 1., hand crafted silver jewelry, bagels (made by an ex-NYer), delicious Thai food, tropical tacos and live music from 9am to 2pm.
A licensed masseuse is available for massages at Hale Luana, with advance notice.
A tour for 2 to 6 guests, educational, fun - of any or all of the Big Island can be chartered, half or full day.

There are nearby state parks for hikers and bird watchers.
There is so much to see and do that it's a good idea to do a little research before your trip if you're coming to explore.
