Bayrock 1 Cape San Blas Bay Rental with Beach Access Park

Home Description

If you want to see the newest video on Bayrock 1 check out my Youtube video taken January 3, 2020.  Just cut and paste into a browser  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXEp2MWTkjk  For those who love fishing Colonel Don Retired from Special Forces caught enough redfish from the dock right after Hurricane Michael to feed his family.  I chose to use a throw net catching mullet and gathering crab to supplement what Colonel Don gathered.  The bay has fully recovered from hurrican Michael with this past scallop season being one of the more prolific.  A popular fish most young sportsman want to catch is shark.  I suggest not only catching them but try eating them.  They are one of the best fish for cooking on the grill on top of some aluminum.

Here is how to clean a shark. Grab the shark by the tail belly up and use a hacksaw to cut it in half just behind the anus. This tail section is all meat with center cartilage. I continue cutting one - 1.5 inch steaks off the tail section and these go on ice. No messing with fillet knives, blood or guts. No need to remove the skin it falls off once cooked. Put these on the grill brushed with olive oil along with lemon juice, garlic and your favorite seasoning and in no time you will have a real delicacy. Even people who don't like fish would like this. Eats like a real tender pork chop. If you are taking Chondroitin for Arthritis, the shark cartilage in the shark steak is the very same thing ground up inside the Chondroitin pill that costs $25 a bottle.  One renter reported spotting of a 6' tarpon swimming under dock in May.

The home is 50 feet from the edge of the bay with a beach access park directly across the street 500 yards from the home. Inside are new furnishing including tournament quality billiard table, internet streaming for viewing netflix and other internet services on upstairs and downstairs TVs, patio furniture seating for 8 persons on the screened porch, new living area sofa, wicker recliner, and an elevated game table with four raised chairs ideal for cards and board games. Play pool, ping pong, basketball, bike ride, fish from the dock, play cards, board games, enjoy surround sound stereo using your Iphone connected to stereo or stream from the wireless internet. The home has central heat and air and plenty of room to spread out. Most people comment on how cool the home is when they first enter. 500 yards from the home is the sugar white sands of Cape San Blas Beach. Enjoy the sunrise over the bay and watch the sunset on the beach. The stars are exceptionally bright when viewed from the back deck of the home. My favorite nightscape is the full moon rising over the bay. Linens and towels are provided as an option so send an email to book the home and arrange for the linen and towel option.

The bay is viewable from each bed in the house. A 500 ft dock is a few steps from the home. A managed pristine environment of live oaks, palms, sea oats and sago palms surround the home.

2 upstair bedrooms have king size beds with one also having a single.  The 2 bedrooms on the main floor: one with 2 double beds and the other has the walk in shower and king bed. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with shower. To see more video of the home and the surrounding area watch my youtube video shot January 3, 2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXEp2MWTkjk  .

The main floor living area has TV/Roku player, a large kitchen with stove, oven, counter top oven, full size frig with ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, blender, toaster, coffee maker, pots, pans, cups silverware and cooking utensils. Off of the kitchen is a screened porch with patio table and 8 chairs. The washer and dryer are hidden away on the screened porch. Each room has cable TV and WiFi access. Bring your IPod and plug into the stereo. A large handicap accessible shower is located on the main floor. The home is unique in that there are no steps from your car into the home. The Grandparents can stay on the ground floor and not have to navigate any steps.

There is parking for 3 vehicles. Boat trailers can be parked close by.

The home is a monolithic concrete dome. The concrete adds extra protection and energy efficiency. Amenities include wifi, tv, dvd player, stereo, central heat and air conditioning. Upstairs has the entertainment area with CD stereo, Cable TV and billiard table. On the back porch overlooking the bay is a ping pong table and patio table with seating for 4. A propane fireplace is located on the main floor great for long winter nights.

Bring a boat or kayak for scalloping, fishing and recreation. If no boat plenty of fish can still be caught from the dock. Try throwing a cast netting for mullet from the dock. A favorite activity is spear or bow fishing for mullet as they swim under the dock. Floundering at night is an activity for those seeking some adventure. Depending on time of year an eagle or bobcat may be spotted close to the home. Want to learn to fish the bay? Captain Hal Tarpley will pick you up from the bayrock 1 dock and take you out for a day fishing or scalloping.

The Bayrock experience is serene, peaceful and private. Here birds are singing, bikes can be ridden on the 12 mile bike path, snorkeling in the bay for scallops, windsurf in the bay and shelling on the beaches.

Golf and tennis are a short 12 minute drive away at St Joe Country Club . Horseback riding on the beach starts at the beginning of the cape Road. Freshwater fishing is a 30 minute drive at Lake Wimico via depot creek or white city.

The cape bike path runs into the St Joseph State Park from the beginning of the cape road about 12 miles.

Inquire about para-sailing, waverunner and pontoon boat rental. Kayaks and bikes can be rented just a short distance away.

About The Area

The beaches have just been renourished and once again pristine sugar sand beaches the Cape is famous for.  St Joseph Bay is in the best condition with fish and wildlife galore.  If you like watching eagles, osprey, red tail hawks and owls you have come to the right place.  Watch long enough and you might see a baldy swoop down and snatch a trout from top of the bay.  Eggrets and Grey Herrings can be seen stalking along the shorelines through out the daylight hours.

House Rules

The home is nonsmoking.  Garbage containers are at the end of the drive.  Do not leave refuse on the porch or coolers with bait as this attracts the racoons to the porch.

Suitability

The home is handicap accessible.

Bayrock 1 Retreat

The guys and I were looking for a getaway from all the stress life can bring. We found our perfect retreat at Bayrock 1. We didn't arrive until late the 1st night due to weather delaying travel but Mick was there to greet us and get us settled in. We hit the beds hard but I can't remember the last time I had such a peacful nights sleep. We awoke the next morning to sunshine and ocean breezes. We spent the next few days touring the island, fishing off the pier right out the back door, swimming in the Gulf of Mexico and just kicking back. At night we threw back a couple of beers, cooked on the grill and swaped stories of our youth. There were pool games and music playing through out the nights. Mick hooked us up with a local fishing guide and we tore em up! The guide knew the bay honey holes and we limited out on sea trout. The guide cleaned and bagged the fish for us. Man they were good fresh off the grill and we had some to take back home to the wives and kids! All in all the guys agreed we had a great retreat that was relaxing and we will definitely be back.

Bayrock 1 Spectacular views and virtual serenity!

We arrived late in the evening, Mick was already there. As a member of his community for more than 20 years he was most helpful with his insights, he was genuinely concerned about us, and expressed a deep interest in our complete satisfaction. We were a bit weary from the trip but overwhelmed by the amenities and freshness of our vacation home. The kids were so excited they could hardly sleep! Whether you are a family looking for adventure or relaxation, a group retreat, or friends looking to connect or reconnect we truly found a hidden treasure here. We found a place that was safe, secluded and certainly not over crowded. Mick provided a fishing guide (with over 30 years experience) for a very reasonable price. We caught our limit. I love to fish but don't often get to go so I brought my trusty zebco 202 ( The Pinto of fishing rods). I was practicing my casts on the pier and hooked into a bunch of redfish, one of which broke the line. As a Chef I enjoyed working in the nicely equipped open kitchen preparing fresh redfish and the blue crabs that we had also caught. My daughter collected as many sea shells as she could carry off from the white sandy beaches. My wife enjoyed reading on the deck overlooking the ocean. In the evenings we relaxed in the hot tub, played pool and ping pong, or just took things easy.We wrapped up the trip by cruising the oceans waters and observed dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, horseshoe crabs, herons and many species of wildlife. Our plans include at least one visit annually that left us feeling refreshed and energized!

Pleasant Days and Blissful Nights at Bayrock 1

We have traveled to the Panhandle area of Florida for years. We started out in the Destin area and have gradually moved Eastward. Cape San Blas reminds us of all the reasons we travel to Florida. The area is still quaint and unspoiled. The people are friendly and traffic is non existent in the winter months. Bayrock 1 suited us like a warm blanket on a chilly night. The home is large and spacious with plenty of light. It overlooks the St Joe Bay with plenty of wildlife in the area. We saw deer, eagles, hawks and heard several owls in the evening hours. We loved how bright the stars are at night. We liked our walk to the beach across the street. Bayrock 1 has all the basics we required including high speed internet. Mick was there to greet us and available if we needed any help. We left relaxed and energized. We look forward to our return trip to Cape San Blas and will not hesitate to book Bayrock 1 again.

Holiday on Cape San Blas

We arrived late at night. Our host, Mick, had left the door open and the lights on. Everything was in order, beds were made, the home was clean and smelled fresh. We awoke to a wonderful sunrise over the bay. The early morning light was spectacular. We did a few fishing trips in the area and were pleasantly rewarded with a few fish dinners during our stay. The beach was a short walk to the beach across the street. Our holidays on the Cape was very rewarding and we found the accommodations of Bayrock 1 to be quite satisfactory. We would rebook with Mick in the future. Thanks for all the local information.

Best Cape San Blas Vacation EVER!!

We have been vacationing at Cape San Blas for 15+ years! We have stayed all over the Cape. We decided to stay on the bay side for a change so we could have our boat right outside at our own dock. Bayrock was the best place with the deepest water we have found. Mick is laid back and stays out of your way but quick to fix any problems that might arise. The house is far off the main road so no traffic noise and located close to great fishing grounds. The house is huge and we happen to be there last year when tropical storm Colin rolled thru with high winds and inches of rain. Because of the structure of that house we felt very safe and secure. Would not consider renting anywhere else on the bay. Looking forward to it again this spring. See ya then Mick

The Cape Retreat

Have been going to Cape San Blas since I was a child. The beach side has changed a lot over the years. I use to stay on the beach side until I discovered how quiet and relaxing staying on the Bayside is. This is the second time we have stayed in Bayrock 1. Our group really got use out of the pool table upstairs. It was a nice addition to the home. The internet was fast compared to other places and the ability to get on Netflix was nice when we were winding down for the evening. We could all sit around and watch a movie together. This year we tried fishing but only had limited luck. Mick told us there was a red tide last winter that devastated the aquatic life and all but wiped out the scalloping season. News is the Fish and WIldlife Department reseeded the scallops in the Bay so next year is hopefully back to normal. We still enjoyed ourselves regardless. The home overall was very satisfactory. The second frig on the porch was an added convenience for our group especially since we ended up spending quite a but of time on the porch. We will continue returning to the Cape each year and likely stay at Bayrock 1 again especially if we plan on returning during Scallop Season as Bayrock 1 has the Best Location on the Cape for enjoying both the Bay and the Beach. Thanks Mick and look forward to seeing you again next year.

Relaxing Holidays on the Cape

I am so glad for a friend's recommendation to visit Cape San Blas. In the past I had visited Panama City Beach Florida but as I get older my need for peace, quiet and less stress has become precedent in my life. A friend recommended Cape San Blas which I am so grateful for. The next best discovery after Cape San Blas was the Zen House Bayrock 1. Cape San Blas is a laid back relaxing atmosphere and Bayrock 1 is like a monastic retreat on Cape San Blas. It overlooks the serene Cape San Blas Bay. The home is full of positive energy and helps one connect with the natural surroundings. There is natural landscaping all around with birds singing in the surrounding live oak trees. I was fascinated by the small lizards that are constantly zooming around the perimeter of the home. The weather was ideal and most of our time was spent meditating on the dock and on the porches. It is so special to hear natural sounds versus man made sounds. Inside the home the upstairs is acoustically phenomenal functioning just like an amphitheater. This was a special location for our meditations. We were renewed physically, mentally and spiritually after our time on Cape San Blas and in Bayrock 1. My thanks to Mick for creating such a special retreat. I recommend anyone seeking a place to meditate and reconnect with Nature to schedule a visit to Cape San Blas and Bayrock 1.

Wonderful Cape Experience

We were a group of mature adults searching for a quiet and beautiful place to relax on Cape San Blas. Mick told us of the eagles and osprey and we were excited to get a chance to see them. We were not disappointed. In the early mornings we learned to recognize their calls. During the days we would see them gliding on the thermals just above the houses. The weather was close to perfect for us. My thanks to Mick for allowing us to spend time in such an enchanting home. We left with fond memories and look forward to returning sometime soon

Relaxing and Enjoyable

My wife and I absolutely loved this unusual property. Beautifully situated on St. Joseph bay this place offers amazing value, privacy, and tranquility. When we arrived our place was clean and welcoming, quite a gift for a place this grand. Our host was very gracious and took care of our every need. He had a great knowledge of the area and gave great advice. Though our winter weather was stellar and the tranquility of our location added to the eperience. This place is custom made for a good size group. For couples plus some kids could easily be accommodated here. The dock just outside the back door is so awesome and goes about 400 feet out into the bay. We also liked the very short walk up the driveway to the ocean side, with a public park just across the road . This cool free-form house is just a couple of miles from the state park up the road. That whole area being beautiful and low-key was just what the doctor ordered. We were really quite impressed and plan to go back for a stay during the summer or fall next year.
