Home Description
'Mood Swing' was custom built in 2014 ...and, as its name implies, our home is just what you need if you are looking for a positive attitude adjustment!
.... AND we have just added an outdoor kitchen which includes 2 Primo ceramic grills, a cooktop, full-size fridge, sink and cabinets for you to enjoy while you gather on the screened porch!
You will love the convenient beach front location with private ramped boardwalk as well as the variety of amenities inside and out.
Our 5 bedroom, 3 & 1/2 bath home easily accommodates 12 people. The arrangement of the bedrooms provides the privacy that makes Mood Swing perfect for having another family, in-laws or grandparents as your guests...Although Mood Swing is designed to give everyone a lot of their own space, it also entices everyone to be together...particularly on the HUGE screened porch with DELUXE grill island that includes a Primo ceramic grill, gas grill & cook top, as well as a prep sink, small fridge, ceiling fans and plenty of comfy seating, that includes a hand-made mahogany swing, outdoor swing bed, custom-made HUGE pub-height heart-pine table with stools, lifeguard-style chairs, hammock, and more!
You can enjoy the sweeping gulf views and spectacular sunsets from almost every room in the house or from its more than 1,700 square feet of covered decks, screened porch & sundeck.
We provide linens, beach towels, beach chairs & other beach equipment, soaps, paper towels, TP, WiFi, cable, free long-distance and much, much, MORE!
FLOOR PLAN:
The GROUND LEVEL has ample covered parking (enough for 4 or 5 cars or boats, depending on size) and is where there is a storage room with a plentiful supply of beach chairs & rafts, a beach cart, cooler with wheels, umbrella, beach toys and much MORE, kept for your convenience. There is also a funky outdoor shower with hot water, a fish-cleaning sink, outdoor charcoal grill and seating area. The private boardwalk to the beach is completely ramped which makes it easy to roll your beach cart or strollers with little ones directly to the beach. Mid-way down the boardwalk is a long bench where you can enjoy the sunset and other views.
The MIDDLE LEVEL has a large sun deck with custom-made mahogony chaises and a huge screened porch that spans the entire front of the home, and runs the length of the house. The screened porch is equipped with a food-prep area with sink, a DELUXE grill island that includes a Primo ceramic grill, gas grill & cook top, a pub-height dining table and ceiling fans that make it easy to dine 'al fresco' while enjoying the view...however, you may just want to curl up in the porch swing or porch bed and read a book or take a nap. This level also contains two bedrooms that share their own private entry foyer and a full bath. The Gulf front mid-level bedroom has a king bed, flat-screen TV, ceiling fan and Kuerig coffee station. The other mid-level bedroom has 2 full beds with a ceiling fan.
The TOP LEVEL is entered from a covered porch overlooking the Gulf. It has a vaulted great room that includes the living area with comfortable seating, 39-inch flat-screen TV, stereo, and a double-pedestal glass-top dining table. We personally reclaimed the heart-pine flooring from beams milled from a 100+ yr-old-building into wide-plank flooring especially for this home. The well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar has a pantry and stainless steel appliances.
There are 3 bedrooms on the top level: each has a king bed & ceiling fan. The master bedroom has incredible Gulf views, a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a full bath with walk-in shower and a walk-in closet. The second bedroom on the top level has a private half-bath & flat-screen TV with DVD, and the third bedroom is adjacent to a full bath that has two vanities and is equipped with a tub/shower combination. The utility room with washer and dryer is located on this level.
Area features:
As you stroll along the quiet beach, you can find a variety of seashells to collect or just enjoy watching the dolphins swimming by or eagles and osprey scouting for prey. Of course, swimming, sunbathing or fishing in the surf are always a favorite, too.
Our neighborhood is extremely quiet and friendly, with no thru traffic - a great place for families with children, or for anyone who just wants to get away from it all!
You may want to rent bikes or a golf cart and cruise quietly through the streets or on the beach. Horseback riding on the beach can also be conveniently arranged.
Our beaches are extremely dog-friendly. (However, County Ordinance requires that dogs be on a leash and that any waste is picked up and properly disposed of.) As a result, we do allow guests to bring up to 2 well-behaved, house-broken, pest-free, 4-legged canine children (preferably up to 30 pounds) and charge a $100 non-refundable fee per dog.
Money Bayou is just a short walk down the beach where you can catch blue crabs, throw your cast net or put in your kayak to explore the winding waterway. Scalloping in nearby St. Joe Bay is also a lot of fun during the summer scallop season. These sweet, tender delicacies can be enjoyed on your vacation or frozen for later when you return home.
In addition, the famous Indian Pass Raw Bar is just a mile up the road where you can enjoy the area's delicious oysters, other seafood and a cold drink. Weekends at the Raw Bar often feature outdoor live entertainment and dancing.
Our area is reminiscent of 'Old Florida.' There are no tall condos or hotels anywhere near by! Our beaches are very quiet and pristine and, in the off-season, you will rarely encounter anyone as you stroll quietly along the beach!
Our home is located on the mainland, just 1.5 miles east from Cape San Blas - which has been rated in the top five of the best beaches in the United States. Port St. Joe is only 10 miles to the west where you can stock up on all of the provisions you'll need. If you're not in the mood to cook, there are a number of great, local restaurants and night spots nearby. A golf course is only a few miles away and there are 4 separate boat ramps within 15 miles.
Just 20 minutes to the east is the historic and quaint fishing town of Apalachicola. Here you will find some great shopping as well as many wonderful restaurants and night spots. In addition, you can walk along the boardwalk and see what catch the fishing boats have brought in for the day.
We invite you to have your attitude adjusted at 'Mood Swing' and enjoy 'Old Florida.'
