There is also a story that Matlacha was made famous by Elvis Presley, the movie ‘Follow that Dream’ , was based on the book Pioneers Go Home, written from the experiences of the first white people to settle in Matlacha, but we understand that it was actually filmed on the Sanibel Causeway.
