Relaxing weekend get away
Had a great trip to SGI and wonderful, comfortable stay at The Wahoo. The owner is very easy to work with, as we had to postpone our trip by a few days due to a hurricane hitting...Tim's response, "No problem!" Very comfortable for the furry family too. Nice back deck for morning coffee with the sound of the birds in the trees. The only thing that could have made this better was iced down beer and oysters waiting for us when we get there. Maybe Tim can do something about that on our next visit!!!

The Smith's review
My third trip to the island - have stayed here every time. FYI, love the new floors. I bring my husband and kids here as often as i can, love that it's dog friendly. 1/2 block from the bay with the most amazing views of the sunset over Apalachacola. We walked to the beach every morning for sunrise and coffee. I think price wise it's the best deal on the island. We also enjoyed riding our bikes to Harry A's to eat dinner. Looking forward to coming back next year! Thanks Tim. Sincerly, Paul and Margery Smith

Relaxing and comfortable
The house has a great location to walk to the beach and restaurants. Also a small grocery store not very far. The home is spacious enough and comfortably decorated. The deck makes you feel that you are up in the trees, listening to the birds! The area is beautiful and we would recommend a stay here.

A quiet, comfortable, spacious house
Also, very favorably situated with wonderful walks in every direction. Close to the bay and the beach. The house has a great large deck from which to watch birds, crashing storms, read or just relax and snooze. We had a lovely week.

Wahoo was peaceful and welcoming, kitchen had ever
Thank you again for sharing your lovely home with my parents and us. There was plenty of room to eat at the bar, while one guest had their computer things set up on the generous sized kitchen table. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to have nice quiet dinners in. There is almost ZERO light pollution on the Island, which made for some fantastic star gazing. Mosquitoes were fairly thick, but one of the locals said they are simple at a RECORD high this year; we had repellent and weren't bothered too much. We enjoyed our time at the Wahoo, and certainly on Saint George Island.

Had a blast!
This is our first time to SGI, incredible island and fabulous home. We brought our bikes and I'm glad we did. We were able to do everything on the island travelling on them. Private and quite home as described. We will be back as long as Tim will have us. Couldn't ask for a better owner. Can't wait to return, this has been one of the best vacations we have had. Wahoo says it all.

Awesome Accomodations!
Tim is the consummate proprietor: responding quickly to inquiries, answering a bazillion questions, resolving an HVAC problem for us as expediently as possible while staying in touch by phone as well. (I must mention, too, just how professional and courteous the workers were.) The house is well appointed, comfortably decorated, and clean. We've stayed at many, many places over the 30 years we've been coming to SGI, but we're grateful to have found such a fabulous place and a great owner to work with. We hope we will be staying here whenever possible in the future!

GREAT place and location
This place was perfect for my families vacation! The place looked just like the pictures, it was clean, and very welcoming. Tim was great to work with! Very responsive with emailing back and forth and explaining where and how to get into the house. The beach was 4 blocks away so it was very convenient to get there by walking. I was very pleased with the Tim, the property, etc. If you ever get a chance to go to St George Island check out this place, you won't regret it!

A very pleasant get away
This was our first time renting a house on a vacation, so we're newbies. I didn't know what to expect. The biggest thing that I can say is that I wish I was still there... we simply didn't want to leave. The house is wonderful and spacious. Neighbors were friendly, the beaches are delightful. The beds are comfy, the back porch is shaded and cool. It's an easy walk with the stroller to the beach with the kids. The island is so safe, I didn't lock up my bikes or anything. The location is a bit off of the main so you don't have any spectacular views, but a short 2 block walk will get them for you. And on the plus, the privacy was excellent. I highly recommend it. The owner was very helpful and all went very, very well. Thanks Tim! We really, really hope we get to do it again soon!

Awesome destination...awesome place to stay.
The St George Island and Apalachicola Bay region is the best part of Florida. The beautiful beaches, protected bays and rivers, charming historical waterfront towns, along with fewer people and the laid back southern hospitality are why my wife and I keep coming back. After staying at the Wahoo we may never go anywhere else. If we had a second home, we would model it after the Wahoo. Great job Tim. Thanks

Beautiful
Tim, what a beautiful time we had staying in your home. I arrived after dark and the following morning was so excited to look off the back deck to the beauty that is there. It's a very comfortable place to stay. If you should make internet available, we would like to visit again next year. Thanks so much for being so congenial and easy to work with!

Quiet as promised
I highly recommend The Wahoo. The house was well-stocked, spacious, and clean. And as promised, it is located in a quiet residential part of the island. All we could hear from the house were birds. Finally, the owner was professional and communicated promptly. Thanks to The Wahoo and its owner, my family and I had a lovely vacation.

Beach getaway
I have rented this home before and once again I was very happy with it. The house is a short walk to the beach (maybe 5 minutes). The fact that there is an outside shower is very helpful when getting back from the beach. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking items. I cooked all meals here for the entire week and didn't need anything beside my crock pot and rice steamer. I look forward to another trip back and it will be right here at The Wahoo!

Holiday Fun
Our first time visiting the panhandle area and very impressed with the beaches and local area towns. Very quiet and peaceful beaches; lots of dolphins and birds. We loved Apalachicola and Port St. Joe - even stopped in Tallahassee on the drive home. Amenities were great and as advertised; plenty of room, lovely wood floors and lots of windows. Tim was easily available and everything clearly explained. Loved that people could bring their dogs to the beach - made lots of four-legged friends! Next time we'll rent out kayaks and scooters to explore further. Loved the lighthouse. Great for age 55+ if stairs are not an issue, i.e. luggage.

The Wahoo
We were coming to Apalachicola for a BBQ contest and decided to stay on SGI. I found The Wahoo on the internet and decided to give it a try for 3 days starting Jan 23rd. We enjoyed our stay so much that we went ahead and booked a week beginning on March 31st. The place is very peaceful and a short walk to either the bay or the beach. The bay side is great to view the beautiful Florida sunsets. We can’t wait to return to The Wahoo in March/April.

BBQ FUN!
This was a great place to stay while we were at our BBQ contest. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Tim was great to work with on coordinating the reservation. I left some shirts down there and he kindly had them shipped back to me promptly.

What a nice place to spend a weekend! A quite family friendly place. House is will supplied with everything you need. Beach is just a few blocks and bay is at end on road . We took our golf cart and that was great. Golf cart rentals is on island. The owners are very easy to work with. We had to reschedule due to COVID-19. With no problems at all. Deposit was returned very quickly also. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful home with us. Sandy

convenient to restaurants, bars, beaches and bay. Close proximity to Appalachicola, state park, and old bridge fishing pier. We kayaked, biked and had a few adult beverages from the local bars.

About The Area
Located just off North Florida’s Gulf Coast, the 28-mile St. George Island is one of the last inhabited yet unspoiled barrier islands in Florida – and it is a serene and pet-friendly vacation paradise. St. George Island consistently rates as one of the top beaches in the U.S., with miles of uncrowded expanses for sunning and shelling, clear Gulf waters for swimming and fishing, and pristine marshes for wildlife viewing. St. George Island is protected by low-density zoning and strict building codes. This makes St. George Island a tranquil beach community with no high rises or chain stores. Visitors can rent a quaint beach cottage, a multi-story luxury beach home, or lodge at one of the two island hotels or inns. The state park in St. George is pet-friendly. Pets are allowed in the campground, the nature trails, and on the paved surfaces throughout the park, but must be on a six-foot leash and under control of the owner. Pets are not allowed on the park beach but are allowed on the public beaches outside the parks boundaries.
