The Terrace at Pelican Beach, built in 1999, is a luxury highrise in the Heart of Destin. It is located on the same property as Pelican Beach Resort, directly across from the Big Kahuna Water Theme Park.
My three bedroom condo is on the ninth floor, with unbelieveable views of the water, the Destin Harbor, and the Destin Bridge. The building is set back from the beach about 250 yards, but there is no street to cross. It is part of a great resort with fantastic amenities. I have eight units in Destin, and this one has my favorite view. The condo has a king in the master, a queen in the second bedroom, and two twin beds in the third. There is a new queen sleeper in the family room, so the unit sleeps 8. It's painted yearly and has recently had new carpet installed.
There are four TV's and four DVD's (master and family room has 32" flat screens). A DVD in the family room also. Wireless High speed internet access is also inside the unit. The kitchen seats six at the table and four at the counter. The balcony stretches the width of the condo, with table and chairs. Each room is very nicely decorated. It is a very spacious condo, approximately 1300 square feet.
The amenities of Pelican Beach Resort can not be beat anywhere in Destin. The Terrace has a beautiful pool with a jacuzzi attached. Barbecue grills, and a really nice workout facility are adjacent to the pool. There is security at the entrance, covered parking, two tennis courts, and shuffleboard.
At the other building, Pelican Beach, there is a deli style restaurant with a small store, a game room, another workout facility with a steam room and sauna, a baby pool, an indoor/outdoor pool, another outdoor pool with a waterfall, a jacuzzi overlooking the beach, a tiki bar that serves drinks overlooking the beach (new in 2006), beach umbrella and chair rentals, and kids activities during the summer that are poolside and free. We also have a kids' camp daily during peak times for a charge. Parents night out is offered several nights a week!
No where else in a highrise on the beach in Destin, can you find all of the amenities offered here. There is also an oversized golf cart to take you between the two buildings if you have a lot to carry. But honestly, the distance is just a minute or two, and is really not an inconvienence at all. I also have four two bedrooms (first, fifth, seventh, and seventeenth floor) and four one bedrooms (eighth, fourteenth, nineteenth and twentieth floors) in the Pelican building that I own and manage. I can also book multiple rooms for large parties, because I am also an agent for the resort.
From The Terrace, you can walk to many stores, restaurants, and fun things to do. There are dune buggies, a water park, bungee jumping, and an arcade right across the street. You can walk to Wings, a popular souvenier shop, fast food, and the new Winn-Dixie. The theater is two blocks away. Take a walk down the beach to The Back Porch, a famous Destin landmark.
There are a couple of brand new shopping and dining areas that you will not want to miss. At the corner of Highway 98 and the Mid-Bay Bridge intersection, there is a brand new shopping/dining complex called Destin Commons. It has a 16 theater movie complex, lots of great stores (Abercrombie, Limited Too, Black and White Market, Build a Bear, Bass Pro Fishing, and Sharper Image, to name a few). There is a Hard Rock Cafe, Johnny Rockets, and several other eateries!!
In the Sandestin Resort, you will not want to miss the new Baytowne Wharf area. Shops and restaurants overlooking the Choctawatchee Bay, with a pier where they will shuttle you from the entrance of the resort to the area by boat free of charge. It is located inside Sandestin, about 7 miles east. I have five units there.
Or just sit back with your catch after a day of deep-sea fishing, grill right there at the condo, and watch the sunset. Destin beaches are the prettiest, whitest, sandy beaches in the country. The water is an emerald green color. If you have never been to Destin, you are in for a real treat. No matter how long you stay, it is never enough!
The Emerald Coast was recently picked as the #1 Beach in America by USA Today readers and selected for the 8th year in a row as the Best Beach in the South and Top Family Destination by Southern Living readers!
