Wonderful 3 Weeks!

My husband and I rented River Retreat for three weeks this summer. It was a perfect place for us to have as a home base for exploring the surrounding area, including Ests Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. We found the accommodations very comfortable and the cabin was extremely clean... and I can be a bit picky about that! Our communications with Richard were very easy, although we really didn't need to contact him about much. The cabin was even nicer than the pictures indicate, and our stay was very relaxing. The river flowing right in front, as well as having a nice outdoor seating area, made for very enjoyable evenings after a day of activities. We would stay there again, and would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay in the area.

A delightful stay!

My husband and I just returned from our Colorado vacation, which included three nights spent in the River Retreat near Estes Park. We could not have asked for a more delightful place to call home while at Estes Park! This home is WAY more space than a couple traveling on their own would actually need. With the master bedroom on the main floor and three other beds upstairs, this would be ideal for a family of five or two couples. Because we started our planning late and wanted the amenities this home has to offer, we booked it anyway. We did not regret it! The house was equipped with everything we needed, and then some. Richard and Robin, the owners, have not skimped on anything needed to make their house feel like a home. Aside from providing the basic necessities for a functional kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedrooms, they have included so many extra little touches in their decor, supplies, media and reading material. And yet, there was no feeling of clutter. The surroundings were so soothing and relaxing! The main floor bed was quite comfortable (we did not try the beds upstairs). The entire house - especially the kitchen and bathroom - was immaculately clean. There were plenty of linens, blankts, etc. We had come prepared to cook and grill, but did not need to unpack many of our supplies - the kitchen was generously equipped. We enjoyed eating our supper a the dining table each night. The wifi signal was strong, and the log-in worked according to instructions. The Dish Network TV worked fine. Outdoor amenities were great. We enjoyed using the table-top Weber gas grill each night. The patio was so relaxing! The private picnic area near the river was great, although we did not get much chance to use it. The location, just minutes east of Estes Park, was perfect - convenient, but away from the crowds. The Safeway was handy for buying what we needed for supper. This was our first time using Homeaway, so we were a little apprehensive. However, Richard and Robin were great about sending us detailed info one week before our scheduled arrival. One small potential issue to be aware of: Some info we read about the rental (not sure if on Homeaway, Trip Advisor, or some other source) is out-dated. A reference to a local caretaker was no longer correct at the time of our stay. Since the owners were easy to contact, this was not a problem for us. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend the River Retreat!

Very clean, comfortable, and relaxing

The cabin is very homey and a wonderful place to come back to after a day of hiking and sight seeing. We could hear the river as we fell asleep each night. The cabin has a very well stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook your own meal. We used the gas grill often. Close enough to Estes Park to enjoy everything it has to offer, but far enough away so you don't have to deal with the tourist crowd. Owners were friendly, responsive and easy to communicate with.
