The location is perfect for fishing
Just spend a great 6 days at the cabin and we had a stellar, care free time. The location is perfect for fishing and getting to town. In addition to having several good places to meet a fishing guide for an early season float trip there is public access for bank and wade fishing very close to the cabin. Later in the season I am certain there will be great wade fishing from the river on the property but this early in the season the flow was a little too strong for us. This cabin is spacious, clean and well equipped. Sitting on the front porch and by the fire pit at night was a definite plus. The town of Creede is 10 minutes away and it has all the essentials: gas, a good grocery store, an over the top coffee shop and two angler shops. I would definitely return to the cabin and am working on vacation days for next year already

We had a groups of 8 adults staying in this cabin for the weekend of a friends wedding. It was spacious and comfortable for everyone. The surrounding scenery was beautiful as well!! An overall great stay.

Wonderful home!
This is a truly wonderful home. It is located right on the banks of the Rio Grande in a quiet neighborhood, but close to Creede so town is both convenient but far away enough so that the night skies were amazing. The house is clean and well stocked with everything you would need. We liked the fire pit along the riverbank and used it often. The owner is very conscientious and responsive and provided help and guidance about local activities. We would definitely rent this house for future trips to Creede.

Amazing!
We loved the proximity to the water. The boys were able to fish all day. This home has everything you could need. We had a great relaxing vacation.

Beautiful cabin, perfect location!
We just returned home from our second stay at this beautiful property. It does not disappoint! The cabin offers the perfect space for both privacy with the four bedrooms, and gathering all together with the spacious living area and large dining room tables. It is only steps away from the Rio Grande, with safe access for the kiddos to play or great fishing for all. It also has a fabulous front porch, which is covered and comfortable to enjoy the views all day long! And Beverly is wonderful to work with - responsive, attentive, and does everything she can to ensure an enjoyable stay. My large family loves this cabin and location, and we look forward to our next visit!

Great Cabin!
My family and I have been regular visitors of Creede for thirty plus years and have stayed in many different rentals. I must say, this is one of the best properties we've ever used. Although most of our days were spent out and about, It was always nice to come home to this cabin. It was spacious and had everything we needed. The views were spectacular and having the Rio Grande out the back door was awesome. My son and I had a blast fishing the river and were able to land several fish. Beverly, the owner, was great in answering all my questions and always did so promptly. This cabin was everything it was advertised to be and I hope to stay there again in the future.

Second Year in Johnson cabin
This was our second year staying in the Johnson cabin and again we had a great time in Creede. The cabin is nice and very well outfitted. Glad to hear you have replaced the kitchen faucet. Great location for fishing. You can fish in the river right down from the cabin or drive to other nearby fishing spots. We like to go fish the river in the area just below the reservoir. Also good hiking in that area. This was our 8th year in Creede and second year staying in Johnson cabin. We will be back next year.

We ALL loved it!......
OH MY GOODNESS, Beverly! The cabin was so awesome! It was just perfect for us. We ALL loved it. I hope that we left it in good shape for the housekeeper and your next guests. Fishing was not so good for us, but that is okay. Because almost everything else was. David did catch 1 every time he went down to the river. We never could get one out of the water at Love Lake. Always got them to the bank then they flipped themselves off. Oh well...that way we didn't have to get our hands dirty. Weather was almost perfect. There were a couple of days with some rain and one day we woke up to a dusting of snow. Friday morning, David & I went to Love Lake where the fog came in VERY heavy and then turned into to heavy snow. Was picture perfect! One afternoon, David, Jenna & Andy went to Love Lake to fish and saw a moose! Went into Creede several times to enjoy shopping and eating. The Aspens were so pretty! Not a lot of orange or red, but oh what yellow. How gorgeous they were. My daughter, Jenna, paints freehand on burlap and sells on Etsy. I asked her to create a canvas for us to leave at the cabin for you and your guests. I took a couple of pictures before we left and they are attached. She left her business card on the back of the canvas and also in the guest book. It was so hard to leave...but we have to get back to reality sometime, I guess. I would love to stay in touch with you and we would love to check to see if the cabin is available. We probably will not be able to go next year and cannot see anything beyond 2018 right now, but we have GREAT memories of our time at the Johnson Cabin in Creede, Colorado in 2017. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin in Creede with us. We truly appreciated it. We took a family picture on the front porch but it is still on the "real" camera that we have not yet had a chance to get onto the computer or I would have attached it, too. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Great cabin!
My friends and I have been coming to Creede and staying in the same cabin for over 25 years. It recently sold, so we had to find another place. The Johnson cabin was perfect for us. It is roomy, clean, and has everything we needed to make our trip enjoyable. I hope we can stay there for years to come.

This charming family friendly log cabin home with an open floor plan has 4 bedrooms ( 1 king, 2 queen, 1 double, and 2 twin) with 2 full baths. Our cabin sits on 5 acres of riverfront property, just a short drive from the town center of Creede. A large living/dining room area with a wood burning stove, has an abundance of windows with amazing views. Fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, microwave, washer & dryer, outdoor grill. Enclosed sun porch with sundeck/loft for an added sleeping area-2 Queen blow up mattresses available for your use. Sit on the outdoor porch to watch the sunrise with your morning coffee or in the evening with your favorite adult beverage. Unplug and enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors: no TV, no internet. Enjoy hiking, fishing, & exploring along the riverfront property within a few short steps from the front door. A marked path with stairs lead you to the water's edge of the Rio Grande. Picnic area with picnic table, fire pit. A wonderful setting for the entire family. The dams usually open for run-off in June, but fish can still be caught from the bank. By mid-July the water will have receded to allow fishing from the rocks on the riverbed.
For experienced hikers or ATVs, a spectacular hike is up to Wheeler National Monument--up Pool Table Road. Accessible by ATV, horseback, or hiking. It's about a 15 min. hike with several nasty water crossings up to volcanic ash rock formations. Hikers would probably want to take camping gear and go up one day, spend the night and return the next day. If you want to go by ATV but don't have your own, they can be rented in town.
For updates about area news, subscribe to the Mineral County Miner and visit the Chamber site which includes just about everything and every place you might want information about.
For many years, we have loved the Kentucky Bell Market, the churches, the hardware and the sporting goods stores. The Creede Repertory Theatre in the summer is world-renowned.
We enjoy the rodeos, 4th of July celebration, restaurants (the best Bloody Mary you will ever have at Kipp's), old mine museum and underground fire station, Last Chance Mine and the drive up to it, artist studios, and gift shops. You might like to hike to the top of Handies Peak, or other wonderful hiking trails. There is river rafting, horseback riding at nearby Cottonwood Falls, and...most of all... friendly people everywhere. In addition to fishing on our property, there are creeks and lakes, including Love Lake close by. The local Chamber of Commerce has THE MOST friendly staff open 8:30-4:30 M-Sat. Their site lists ALMOST EVERY EVENT and they have flyers and pamphlets for others. In summer they are even open on Sunday. Please explore their site for MUCH additional information about things to do, places to visit. For a side trip you could drive up one day to Lake City to enjoy the scenery as well as their small town. Wolf Creek Pass is about 45 minutes south for skiing and other fun things, and about another 15 more minutes to Pagosa Springs (for hot springs to soak & relax in), interesting shops, etc.)
