Home Description
You may wish to simply relax and enjoy our detached spacious studio apartment and hot tub, while getting 'away from it all', or use it as a launching pad for enjoying a multitude of Reno/Tahoe adventures. Located on the edge of Truckee's 'Glenshire' subdivision, our property is adjacent to thousands of acres of open land, with a multitude of local trails for mountain biking, hiking and running. Stunning views of the back side of Mount Rose, and a wild flower filled meadow with seasonal brook, are just a two minute walk from your front door!
Our Sweet Truckee Apartment, is a large (500+ square feet=46.5 sq meters) second story studio (CAUTION: there are 15 stairs) above our garage (used only for storage) which is detached and separated from the main house by about 50 feet. The apartment is equipped with a full kitchen including a three burner stove with oven, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and a full complement of cooking equipment (pots, pans, coffee maker, blender, basic spices, and so on). Relax after a long day of Tahoe travels in a brand new hot tub with a filtered view of Mount Rose or enjoy the typically outstanding night time sky (the stars really DO shine brighter in Truckee!).
The apartment is furnished with a brand new super-comfortable king sized bed, plus a large couch that can double as a twin bed. A comfortable queen sized air bed, or small twin-size folding beds, are available for children or other additional guests. The apartment is equipped with Wi-Fi, a desk for your computer, a 40" flat screen TV with a DVD player and Sudden Link cable service including HBO & Pandora.
Located just a ten minute drive from downtown Truckee, we are within a half hour drive of Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, the North Shore of Lake Tahoe (Tahoe City, Kings Beach, etc), Royal Gorge X-C, Tahoe Donner X-C, and the world class rock climbing crags of Donner Summit and Big Chief. The brand new Truckee River/Glenshire Legacy bike path was just completed summer of 2014, and now connects our neighborhood to downtown Truckee and Northstar via a paved limited access bike path that runs on the opposite side of the Truckee River from the main road. A beautiful catch-and-release trophy fly fishing zone on the Truckee River is just minutes away, as are boating and fishing on Boca and Stampede reservoirs, where each spring you can watch adult bald eagles teaching their young to fly. With the Hirschdale/Boca/Stampede exit of Hwy 80 just three miles from our home, it is only a 30 minute drive to the exciting night life of downtown Reno, and just 35 minutes to the Reno International Airport.
We are located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac at the edge of the subdivision. Just perfect for a quiet stroll through the neighborhood, or a jaunt through the nearly endless network of trails that extend from our back yard all the way to Lake Tahoe. The subdivision clubhouse is several blocks away, and has a pool and tennis courts during the summer season, as well as a year round trail around the Glenshire pond with intermittent ice skating in the winter months. In the summer months we set up an outdoor patio with barbeque and grill alongside a beautiful wildflower garden and field of sage and bitterbrush, which attracts lots of mule deer and bunny rabbits, almost daily hawk visits, and we once saw a large bobcat staring at us from less than 50 feet away.
