Wanderlust was a great hub for a girls getaway, and Debbie was a lovely host. The property and amenities were exactly as described, and we enjoyed coming back to unwind at Wanderlust after spending our days and evenings in the downtown area (8-10 minutes away by car). There was plenty of room for 5 adults (we could have easily fit another person), and the outside area was delightful for evening wine and morning coffee

Debbie's house was perfect for our family.
Debbie's house was perfect for our family. This house is about 10 minutes from UCSB and 10-15 min from the beaches/State Street shopping. Everything that we needed was provided. We found the kitchenette to be well stocked. Especially thoughtful to include things like aluminum foil and zip lock bags. Debbie also let us borrow their beach equipment and beach towels. All of her suggestions on where to go were also very helpful. We enjoyed hiking to Inspiration Point and also boogie boarding at Arroyo Beach.

My friends and I loved our stay at the Wanderlust!
My friends and I loved our stay at the Wanderlust! The location is incredible. You’re pretty close to almost everything in the Santa Barbara Area so it’s easy to have lots of fun day trips, but the house itself is nice and secluded. The place is very well set up and we really enjoyed the extremely comfy beds. Debbie is such a hospitable host and is very knowledgeable about the area which makes days with nothing planned easy to fill! I would definitely recommend the Wanderlust to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the SB area!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Debbie's Wanderlust home. Our party included five people—my wife and me, my parents, and our daughter—and we had plenty of room to live comfortably for the week. The Wanderlust is a self-contained town home built on the end of Debbie's main home. It is private, with its own entrances, parking, and patio. Debbie was available whenever needed but did not intrude. She is an excellent host who has thought of every detail, from an itemized list of all kitchen utensils and equipment to a shed stocked with boogie boards and beach supplies. The nearest beach is about eight minutes away by car, and downtown Santa Barbara also is just a short eight-ten minute drive. Evenings at the Wanderlust are quiet, and views from the patio are beautiful. I definitely recommend it and will try to book it again the next time I'm traveling to Santa Barbara.

Relaxation awaits you & your party at our cozy hillside retreat! After playing at the beach unwind in our Hot Tub, curl up near the outdoor fire pit, BBQ on the patio or soak in the Master Suite tub! A kitchenette & washer/dryer are perfectly convenient for your traveling needs. Our Wanderlust Retreat is connected to the side of our family home, with its own private entrance and space. Parking is on property and spaces are close to entrance for easy access.
The space:
Our home is situated on one acre of land, with county open space behind us, and views beyond of Mora Mesa and the ocean. On a clear day you can see the Channel Islands. Our closest neighbors being over 90 feet away, makes for a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We have a non chemical hot tub and lighting on our oak tree that shines like Disneyland. There is a propane fire pit & BBQ on the patio. All of these are not shared by others.
Please note:
****There is a staircase to the second floor which could be hazardous to small crawling children.
If Children are coming to stay, we can have toys brought in: We just need to know their ages.
The Neighborhood:
We are located in the foothills of Santa Barbara, one mile from freeway off the turnpike exit. We are also 6.3 miles to downtown (where the courthouse and the theatres are) and 7.8 miles to Stearns Wharf. We are close to UCSB and Goleta Beach (4.3 miles away) . We are also 3.2 miles from upper State Street where the La Cumbre Mall is located with many restaurants. In-N-Out Burger, International House of Pancakes, and Vons grocery store are less than a mile away.
Interaction with Guests:
We are available to help with anything our guests require. We respond immediately should any questions or needs arise, but we respect the privacy of our guests while they are staying and enjoying the property.
Other things to note:
Owners do live on property (on the other side of the retreat) with their dog named Poncho and he is very fun to play with!
***extra guests over 6 are charged a $25.00 per person per night.
No air conditioning, but we do have ceiling fans in all rooms except for the bunk bed room (which has a floor fan).
The bunk bed room is a passage way for the master bedroom and the 1st floor queen room to access the kitchen, family room and downstairs bathroom. This is not a private room.
We have Direct TV with the sports package and the Hallmark channel. You will need your passwords and account information for Hulu and Netflix.
Instruction manual:
The Wanderlust contains two manuals: The first manual contains detailed instructions for the rental, and the other manual is filled with places to visit in Santa Barbara, along with detailed information on all the beaches (with directions).
