We were a little starstruck by this glamorous guest house with glittering views of LA. With old world elegance and Hollywood allure and just the right amount of opulence and style!
Named in LA Weekly’s BEST OF LA 2013 issue as “the best place to pretend your a celebrity for a day,” The Villa Sophia has true Hollywood pedigree. Set within the grounds of the former estate of cult director, James Whale, best known for his films Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935), this is a historic and beautiful Hollywood Hills gem.
Built in 1927, this grand Mediterranean estate set in lush gardens sits securely atop a Los Feliz hilltop with stunning views of the Los Angeles skyline, the mountains and the Pacific in the distance. Surrounded by 15′ castle walls, the villa is completely private, secluded and tranquil.
It has been the location of many television, movie and fashion shoots including “Entourage,” Victoria’s Secret, Vogue, GQ and W Magazines.
Bright, sunny and spacious, the spa-like guest house was built in 2003 and overlooks the large emerald tile pool. Built as an addition to the house, it is a seamless and beautiful transition in style and tone.
The separate entrance through a covered grotto seating area is made with ancient reclaimed terra cotta tiles and allows for complete privacy. Restored with authentic period materials, the home features a large stone fireplace, venetian plaster walls, surfaces of stone, tile and marble, hand forged iron sconces and chandeliers, and old world custom cabinetry.
The grand master bath contains a huge stone and marble shower room with rain shower head and additional side mounted and hand held shower heads. Double steam units insure a deluxe experience with seating for four.
The floor to ceiling iron doors and windows open out to the emerald mosaic tiled pool and hot tub and thousands of square feet of outdoor living space with million dollar views and poolside dining.
