Bungalow in the Boulders Bottlerock House

Details

Home Description

Step back in time to this one-of-a-kind desert hideaway located on five private acres, with incredible views of the mountains and Joshua Tree National Park.

The bungalow is situated in among desert boulders and Joshua trees. The western entrance of the National Park is about two minutes away, or you can just walk up the wash and you will be inside the park boundaries. Some say the location is magical.

The Bungalow offers a unique and RUSTIC desert experience with all the comforts you require. Cuddle up in front of our wood-burning stove--we provide the wood--or go out to our great patio, complete with gas BBQ and a fire pit. Indoors, you'll enjoy cable TV, a large DVD movie library and a Bose CD player. Retire on a comfortable queen-size bed dressed in clean linens.

The Bungalow features a Keurig single cup coffee brewer with an assortment of coffees and hot chocolate. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils and spices you'll need to cook your meals, indoor or out.

You will be inspired by the beautiful 360-degree views while reconnecting with the essence of the natural world. The dawn skies and the evening sunsets are a photographer's delight. The days are typically sunny and the star-studded night skies are nothing less than magnificent. Astronomy buffs will find plentiful constellations and planets traveling across the evening skies.

The Bungalow is popular with our local wildlife, too. Throw out a little critter feed in the morning--also supplied--and you'll be visited by doves, quail, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits and more. You can walk the miles of desert trails or go rock climbing within walking distance of the Bungalow. After a long day of adventure, play a game of horseshoes or kick back on the patio with your favorite beverage. We've built an oasis in the desert with a funky vibe that is both peaceful and invigorating.

Great property, excellent value

Great experience to stay here - mid-century Americana buffs will love it here. Really appreciated everything Cary did to make this place so unique. Communication before & during stay was great- will return!

A fantastic experience!

Bungalow in the Boulders was a fabulous experience. A small cottage that has been carefully curated by its owner (vintage neon signs outdoors, interesting ephemera of 40's, 50's, possibly coolest refrigerator ever!) to create a unique, rustic desert experience. The cottage has plenty of tromping ground and feels quite on its own although there are neighbors around. (None too close, though.) The creatures around the cottage are one of its big charms. Every morning we got up early to feed them ( owner provided critter feed) and were rewarded with bunnies, chipmunks, squirrels, a Jack Rabbit siting, all sorts of birds and a spectacular sunrise. The cottage is quite close to the park entrance (one of three) and we spent a great week hiking and then retreating to the cottage for some r and r. The cottage is very close to Joshua Tree proper, and it's quite easy to run into town for a bite and a drink. We stayed in the main cottage, but there is a lovely bottle house and also a fab pink(!) vintage travel trailer for a crowd. It was chilly so we used the indoor cast iron stove, and it was quite cozy. There is also a fire pit outdoors. The cottage abounds with outdoor areas to sit and soak in the experience. We hope to be able to make the trek back to Joshua Tree again! Cary has created a very unique desert experience.
