This region is dominated by the Taurus Mountains that sweep down to the sparkling clear sea forming an irregular coastline of rocky headlands and secluded coves. Bathed in sunshine for 300 days of the year. This stunning section of the Turkish coastline is not called the Turquoise coast for nothing. The Mediterranean coast here is literally turquoise blue. Calm, tranquil clear water, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, sailing and generally enjoying oneself. Majestic mountains plunge into the sea and dozens of islands lay scattered about providing a myriad of bays and coves to explore by boat.
Warm and sunny in spring and autumn, wonderful days and cool nights, pretty hot in July and August. Spring and autumn daytime temperatures are generally around the mid to late 20's and July and August temperatures can be 39/40 degrees.
However, being in the foothills of Mt. Bagadad which is about 1000ft above sea level we experience cooling breezes, where as the coastal resort of Olu Deniz and the harbour town of Fethiye will be 4 degrees or so hotter.

This part of Ovacik is peaceful and relaxed with a scattering of bars and restaurants in easy reach. The surrounding areas of Hisaronu, Oludeniz (Olu Deniz) and Fethiye also offer a great selection of places to eat and drink. The whole area is mountainous, with a great beach at Oludeniz (Olu Deniz) and a beautiful harbour and marina in Fethiye.
This corner of Turkey has extensive tours and excursions to offer, from boat trips and Turkish Baths, to paragliding from the summit of Mount Babadag. The shopping in the area is fabulous, with excellent fake goods made to the highest standards of all the major designers, and jewelry shopping is a must. Gold and silver items in Turkey are produced by experienced, time-served craftsmen, and is a fraction of UK prices, Elif Gold in Hisaronu comes highly recommended.
In Ovacik, there are numerous bars offering a friendly welcome and a great place to relax and a little further afield in the neighboring village of Hisaronu is a larger selection of places to spend a pleasant evening or to go out and party. Likewise in the fishing town of Fethiye, plenty of places to eat or drink can be found, catering for both day and night, visit the fish market where you can choose your fish from the monger then have it cooked for you in one of the surrounding restaurants, on Tuesdays is the main Fethiye market where you will find an abundance of goods, from vegetable and spices, homewares, clothes and handbags and much more,
Too many restaurants to count are available in the locality, offering enormous variety and choice. You could eat somewhere different every night, having great food every time and still not visit a tenth of the places available to you.
Oludeniz (Olu Deniz) Beach is sat where the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea meet, with beautiful clear water to dive into and splash about. There are also other beaches in the area not too far away, including the national park of Kidrak Beach, and the very Turkish Gemiler Beach.
