About The Area
Treasure Cay is a "walk-to", sleepy little town that has been named as having one of the TEN most beautiful beaches in the world by National Geographic magazine. The island has phone service, bad TV, and the Internet. Other than that it has changed little over the years. The alternate mode of transportation is golf cart or bike of which both can be rented there. The marina is across the street and has fishing charters, boat rentals, a dive and snorkel shop, restaurant and open air bar. Next door to the marina in the town center, are the grocery store, liquor store, bakery and the bike and golf cart rentals. There’s a golf course about a half mile down the road. A lot of people do not realize that the Bahamas are made up of 700 islands. Besides Treasure Cay, there are islands that are only accessible by boat or ferry. These are fun to explore. Elbow Cay, Green Turtle, and Guana Cay are ones we would recommend as starters. If you rent your own boat, there are also many uninhabited islands to play Robinson Caruso on. You can hire a fishing charter that will take you fishing and then to an uninhabited island to prepare your catch for lunch. Guana Cay has a beach bar and grill that has a Pig Roast on Sunday that you can ferry over to on Prozac, the ferry boat out of Treasure Cay Marina. The world's 3rd largest barrier reef is off their beach and you can snorkel right off the beach. There are umbrellas and chairs at the Bahama Beach Club beach free of charge for you to use but are on a first-come, first-served basis. There are also charcoal grills available outside each building that are on a first-come, first serviced bases. There is also a pool bar and grill there as well. There is a fresh water shower to rinse off and then go to dinner. Swim suits are the most common attire.
Treasure Cay is one of the safest and friendliest family islands located in the Northern Bahamas on Great Abaco.
