You are perched to catch the breeze on the highest point of a large estate within the Monfragu� National Park, which includes a lake and a long stretch of the river Vid. If the owners permit, you can explore where the black storks nest ? unseen by the majority of visitors. All at ground level and brick-tiled, the rooms are airy, comfortable and furnished with good taste, nothing too posh and everything well thought-through: like a big friendly family home. The dining room leads through French windows onto the covered terrace so you can drift in and out; off it too is the sitting room, inviting with open fire, books and games. Keen chefs will like the kitchen, and catering can be arranged ? you do need to think ahead with the nearest shop and restaurant 12km way (8km on dirt roads). Quite a place!
