Cortijo la Suerte, a beautiful holiday home in the Alpujarras region of Andalucia located on the southern slopes of Spanish Sierra Nevada. A 'cortijo' is a small farmhouse, where you can stay comfortably with your family or friends. 'Suerte' means fate, chance, fortune or good luck. We hope you’ll be lucky enough to stay at Cortijo la Suerte. Cortijo la Suerte offers privacy, simplicity and comfort to our guests to experience the rural life of Spain. It has beautiful views, spring water and fruit trees. Located on the slopes, close to the village of Pitres. The nearby neighbours are farmers. There is a big swimming pool, central heating in the living room, Jacuzzi and floor heating system in the 2 main bedrooms. The rural lifestyle can give you some great experiences of your life. Electricity is provided by solar panels and a backup silenced generator. Now let our guests speak for themselves: ... I think we forgot to contact you after returning home back in June, but I guess the repeat booking tells you what we thought! Mike, UK - June and September 2011 ... Your place really was a wonderful ‘get-away’, and we were all delighted with the grounds and the pool (especially the kids!), as well as with your accommodations and the fact that you really think of supplying everything! We so enjoyed the views and the quiet….well, I should say the quiet during the day…because it was Fiesta at night and it was rather noisy (no fault of yours!). David, Israel - August 2011 ... We had wonderful time. We loved La Suerte for so many reasons. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped, it didn't take long for us to settle in and feel at home. We particularly liked the lay-out of the sitting room and kitchen / dining area which make a nice gathering point in the house. We pretty much used all areas of the property for various reasons - the pool area of course, the terrace for serious sunbathing and the table outside the sitting room for breakfast and lunch. I loved the views from the terrace including at night when we could see the lights from the villages nearby. You made a very good choice regarding the location. Quiet but not isolated - Pitres and the other villages being near enough to walk to. We were very interested in how all the systems serving the house function. Everything worked. You must have put so much work and planning into the house and garden over the years. Many thanks to you both for La Suerte - we were able to experience a little bit of life in La Taha. It is a very special place I think. Amanda, UK - june 2011 ... Would it be possible to book La Suerte for next summer again, please? We do so love the cortijo, going anywhere else would be such a poor substitute! Our guests called it 'absolutely amazing - a little piece of heaven'. Eleanor, Scotland - July 2010 (coming back for the fourth time!) .. Thank you so much for letting me and my friends stay at your house this past weekend. It is absolutely stunning. We had a wonderful time hiking and exploring and walking to several little towns along the mountain sides. Your home was perfectly suited for our needs and delightfully comfortable. Thank you again for allowing us to stay especially after such short notice, it really made our weekend! Fallon, USA - March 2010 ... Os escribo solo para felicitaros por el Cortijo la Suerte, un lugar precioso donde tanto mis amigos como yo hemos disfrutado mucho. Miguel, Almeria, Spain - December 2009 ... My words didn't reflect how much we enjoyed our time in your property - the isolation and space afforded by your house both lent themselves well to having a relaxing time. Many thanks for letting us use your super house! You might be interested to know that in 7 years of holidaying together in various rental cottages, yours is the first that we've liked so much that we've chosen to return to it! Thanks for sharing it. Karl, England - September 2009 ... Just to tell you what a really lovely time we had at your special house. Matt was particularly helpful. We'd love to come again, perhaps when the weather is cool enough to do more walking! The kids spent most of their time in the lovely pool, and as for the area...We loved all the local villages but Trevelez was really special I thought. Sandra, England - August 2009 ... We had an absolutely wonderful time at your cortijo – what a beautiful place! So peaceful! We didn’t encounter any problems with anything. Everything was explained in a very clear and helpful fashion in your House Book. All in all 10 out of 10! We would certainly love to come back – if you’d have us! Iwona, England - October 2008 ... We have just returned from our holiday in Spain and would like to thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful cortijo. We had a terrific time: the place is delightful and was just what we were wanting. Definitely our best place ever! We would very much like to book again for next year! Eleanor, Scotland - September 2008 ... We stayed at Cortijo La Suerte for a week in February 2008 – the weather was wonderful, and just a few other tourists shared the walking trails with us. Snow still covered the Sierra Nevada, early spring growth painted bright green patches on the hillsides and almond trees blossomed in the valley and around the house. The house itself is very secluded and private, with a fabulous view and pleasant places to sit and eat outside. It's quite comfortable, a little quirky (careful on the steps!), and ideal for a small group of friends or family who want a place to themselves. We enjoyed Pitres and other quaint villages nearby and especially recommend walking and driving in the surrounding countryside. Pauline and James, Melbourne Australia - February 2008 ... I would like to congratulate you on having such a nice place in such a wonderful location. We had a thoroughly relaxing week, with great weather. Louise - September 2006 ... Just to say thank you for such a lovely restful holiday. We loved the area and the cortijo. Moss and Bramble - our dog and cat also enjoyed themselves especially the freedom of having so much space in a safe environment. We hope to return next year for a holiday and I have passed your details on to a number of people. Shirley and John - August 2006 ... Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed staying at La Suerte. The house is a little treasure. It was a pleasure getting away from the normal frantic pace of modern life. The Alpujarras area was like stepping back in time with comparisons to places such as Peru or Chile!! There were several other marvellous experiences from our time there and I could go on and on. Don't change anything with the house, its charm is in its location and simplicity. Elaine and Mark - September 2005
