The ground floor apartment looks out on the cloister of the Convento da Franqueira, an enchanting former Franciscan monastery surrounded by 35 acres of private grounds. The lush green gardens, fields, terraces and spectacular swimming pool, hidden behind a 16th century font are set deep in the pine, cork oak and eucalyptus woods covering the Monte da Franqueira. The perfect place in which to unwind and get away from it all. Woodland paths to the ruins of ancient Faria castle and the tiny chapel at the top of the hill reveal breathtaking views to the coast 12kms away and inland to the mountains of the National Park of Peneda/ Geres, an hours drive. Although quiet and secluded the quinta is only 40 minutes from the airport and 6km from the historic market town of Barcelos famous for its ceramic cockerels and lively Thursday market. Braga the regional capital, with its baroque churches is only 20 minutes away, Ponte de Lima, Guimaraes and Viana de Castelo are all reached within half an hour.
