Ideal for taking advantage of local levada walks or travelling ashrt distance to the natural swimming pools at Porto Moniz. Within a short but scenic drive you can be on the Paul do Serra, Rabacal (25 fountains), calheta with its yellow sandy beach, etc.
You will need a car to make the most of this location. Just over an hours drive from the airport on the Via Rapida it also allows easy access into Funchal for those visits to the many delightful gardens, a trip on the cable car or shopping in the many modern complexes.
Boat trips are available from Calheta if you want to go dolphin or whale watching.
