This festival is celebrated in remembrance of the offer made to Jesus Christ by his followers, when Christ came down the Olive trees Hill, after having stayed there, in solitude, for 40 days in meditation. People get a small bunch of olive tree branches and rosemary, they then go to the church in procession. Then, in the church, the priest blesses the branches with the holy water and says Mass.

This day celebrates Portugal's independence, as well as, its epic poet, Luís Vaz de Camões, who told the story of the nautical discoveries in 'Os Lusíadas' in 1572. St. Martin's Day and Women's St. Martin: takes place on the 9th-10th of November. St. Martin's Day begins in the afternoon on the 10th, where people eat grilled chestnuts and drink jerupiga and água-pé. Children paint their faces with the coal used to grill the chestnuts as a playful way. It begins in the afternoon -- people eat grilled chestnuts and drink "jerupiga" and "água-pé". Some also paint their faces with the coal used to grill the chestnuts. On the 9th,Women's St. Martin Day is celebrated with only women taking part in the festivities. Portuguese Golegã Horse Fair (Feira Nacional do Cavalo) 4th – 13th November The roots of Golega horse fair, originally called "Feira de São Martinho", are back to the XVIII century. It started intending to promote the trade for agriculture products from the region since Golega has very fertile soils. In addition, the Lusitano horse became part in the fair due to the location of important Lusitano breeders in Golega fields.

Parents must ensure that their children are supervised at all times. Liability In the event of any problems whatsoever, the total liability of the owners will be limited to the rental amount paid by the client. Swimming pools Swimming pools are great fun and few people would choose a holiday villa/apartment without one. However, they are an obvious source of danger especially for young children. We cannot accept any liability whatsoever for any injury or death caused as a result of using the swimming pool at Casa do Lago. You are strongly advised never to allow children to use the swimming pool unsupervised below the age of 14. Please read the RULES of the pool area on arrival and note times of use and endeavour to abide by these at all times. The pool is not supervised by a lifeguard. Property details We try to ensure the details and photos we display on our website are accurate and up to date, but they should be used as a guide only and we cannot guarantee one hundred percent accuracy. Maintenance All breakages, accidents, problems and losses must be reported to the owners, so that they can be attended to. Home appliances will from time to time malfunction and may need repair. We will use our best endeavours to have any problem rectified as quickly as possible. Access to the property may be required by authorized personnel during your stay. Please note the swimming pool will be cleaned regularly throughout your stay and we will try and keep any inconvenience to a minimum. Where possible, we will try to give prior notice. Privacy The owners will use any data provided by you only in respect of your rental booking. It will be treated as confidential and not passed onto any unnecessary third parties. Cancellation Should you need to cancel a booking, then your deposit will only be returned in exceptional circumstances. Should a cancellation occur after the total balance has been paid, we will immediately make the dates available and will make every attempt to re-let the accommodation. Should we be successful in re-letting, we will refund any monies due to you, less your initial deposit. In the event of cancellation, your security breakages deposit [if paid] will be returned to you. Should we be unable to re-let, then the charges below will apply: •40 days or more - 25% deposit •28 – 41 days - 50% of total cost •27 – 14 days - 75% of total cost • Less than 14 days - 100% We strongly advise you to take out holiday travel insurance as soon as your booking has been confirmed. This should cover any cancellation for reasons beyond your control. We reserve the right to cancel any reservation when this is due to circumstances beyond our control. Such circumstances include, but not limited to, failure of equipment, loss of water supply, electricity, adverse weather conditions, threat of war, riot, industrial disputes etc. If such events should occur or if Studio do Lago is unavailable for rent for whatever reason, we will refund all monies paid. We will not otherwise be liable for any loss incurred by you as a result of the cancellation. Occupancy The property is only allowed to be occupied by members specified on the booking form, unless agreed by prior arrangement. Under no circumstances, should the studio sleep more than the maximum occupancy level. This is for your health and safety and in the unlikely event of a fire. Conduct Please note that a siesta period during the summer hours of 1-4pm is common by locals. We ask that during this time, noise levels are kept to a minimum. Our studio is in a residential area and whilst we expect you to enjoy your holiday and outdoor dining/pool activities, we ask you to respect your neighbours, and act in a courteous and considerate manner at all times. Any such complaints will be looked upon as misconduct and will be treated accordingly. We reserve the right to remove you from the property, if you are found to be causing unacceptable noise levels and disturbing the peace. Breakages and damage We request a refundable security deposit of £100/€100 with final balance 8 weeks prior to commencement of your holiday. This guards against any damage to the property during your stay. The security deposit will be returned to you less any damage or breakages done by you or your party. You will be held responsible for any breakages or damage to the property and its contents. In the event of such occurrence the incident must be reported to the owners. A full inventory check will be made and if all is satisfactory, your security deposit will be returned to you on departure in cash. The lead name on the booking form agrees to accept full liability for all loss/damages to the property or its contents caused by any other member of their party and confirms that full cost of repair/replacement will be met. Air conditioning Please use supplied air conditioning units with care. Whilst in operation all windows and doors should be kept closed. Please do not use units continuously or whilst the property is unoccupied. We charge extra for air conditioning but excessive use will incur a further charge. None Available at the Moment. Building work Any building work which may commence in the local vicinity of the property is outside of our control and we cannot be held responsible for any disturbance. If we become aware of any building work which we consider may spoil the enjoyment of your holiday, we will notify you as soon as possible. Cleaning services All bed linen and towels are provided and the Villa will be cleaned for your arrival. Payments For bookings made more than 8 weeks prior to arrival a 50% deposit of the accommodation rental is required. The balance will be payable 8 weeks before your arrival. For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival total payment will be required on booking. If a client does not pay the full balance when it becomes due, then we reserve the right to cancel your booking and retain your deposit. Payment can be made either by cheque or Bankers Draft in Sterling or Euros. We do not accept credit or debit cards at this time. Complaint If you have any cause for complaint during your holiday at the studio please notify us and we will make all reasonable efforts to assist and resolve the issue. We will not normally make any refund or recompense in respect of a complaint made after departure if the complaint was not made known to us during the holiday rental period. Lost Property We shall not be responsible for loss or damage to any of your belongings or for any injuries sustained by you or any of your guests unless caused by the negligence or default of the owners. Arrival and Departure The holiday rental period begins at 3.00pm on the first day of the booking period and ends at 10.00am on the day of the departure. If your stay extends beyond this period you may be subject to a charge for the additional days. Pets Generally we do not allow pets . (guide dogs or hearing dogs are excepted).
