Home away from home! Renting a summer house for a week, has been the best experience ever for my family of twelve. Large enough, fully furnished, great location, near major shopping and tourist attractions. Just comfort in all levels, incredible savings compared to s stay in a hotel. Internet and cable accessibility was a plus for my teenage grandsons. located in a nice and quiet neighborhood with lots of places to eat at a walking distance. I would book it again for my next family vacation.

Well taken care of in Cancun

We stayed at Villa Maya for one week in January 2014 and Mattias proved to be a perfect host. He met us at the car rental facility in Cancun and we followed him to the unit where he showed us around and explained everything to us. During the stay he was very responsive to our needs and email connection with him was very easy. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. He had also recommended a masseuse who came to Villa Maya and gave an excellent and very reasonable massage to myself and my wife. The living space was small but comfortable and pleasantly decorated and the bed very comfortable. The roof area was quite pleasant...a great place for morning coffee and to unwind with a beer in the evening. There were no bowls in the kitchen and a cutting board would have been helpful otherwise the kitchen was well stocked albeit somewhat cramped. The shower always had hot water on hand. Villa Maya is located in an everyday city neighborhood. We felt very safe there...most houses were privately owned and lived in. Within walking distance was a great little breakfast/coffee shop, a convenience store, a restaurant etc. No hotels nearby and it took about 10 minutes to get to the main highway which took us south to explore the sights. What we liked least were the barking dogs which started in the morning and usually stopped between 10 and 11pm.and driving home into Cancun after a days sightseeing. A GPS would have definitely helped. We liked best the convenience and the ambiance of the neighborhood. All in all we were able to live quite simply and pleasantly. It was a pleasure dealing with Mattias who was very helpful, easy going and treated us excellently. Thank you Mattias for your hospitality. What we liked most

Home is where Villa Maya is

We had a fantastic time at Villa Maya. The owners were super friendly and made sure that someone comes by every now and again to exchange towels and change the bedsheets. We stayed there for two weeks and could have stayed forever. The house feels like a home and the area is super convenient with supermarkets just around the corner. Also, there's even a Vegan Restaurant just 10 minutes away!! All in all, top holidays!!

Great Apartment for a whole lot less than the Hote

Very great experience from the beginning! Emailed Matthais and he was quick to reply and help me out with setting everything up for my friends and me! They picked us up at the airport and dropped us off when it was time to leave! Apartment was clean and had all that home would have!! There is a nice patio outside to enjoy a few beers at!! They set us up with a very reasonable cab driver who picked us up night or day for about 10 to 20 USD, El Octopus you the man! AC worked like a champ!! Well worth it!! Thank you to the Doehling Family!!

Perfect for Families

I stay with my family for a week in this mexican style home and we had such an amazing time. House is big with plenty of beds for everybody, cozy and clean. We like to have breakfast at home so this place allow us to do it everyday, is close to some stores like Soriana, oxxo and Wallmart. Lots of local restaurants, our favorites: la Parrilla and JB Carnes. I did plan airport service and the did it on time. Every time I contacted the owner by e-mail he answered right away. Owner has a little apartment which I took after my family left and is super cozy, I love it. Is super complete.

Spacious, comfortable, great location!!!

Me and my friends stayed at Villa Maya de Cancun for one week during Spring Break. We didn´t want to pay too much for a hotel, as we knew we would be out exploring or on the beach most of the time. For that reason we chose Villa Maya, because of it´s excellent value for money and it´s central location. Getting around was easy, we used both taxis and buses to get to the hotel zone(approx 10-15 mins)and to other places. There is a bus stop just around the corner that will take you right to the hotel zone. A taxi to the hotel zone will cost around 100(cien) pesos, but make sure you say before you get in. There is an Oxxo on the corner close to the house, this is like a small supermarket that is open 24 hours. There are also 2 big supermarkets close by, Soriana and Walmart, I would recommend going to Walmart as it is better quality and value. There is also a laundrette next to the Oxxo. As for the Villa itself, we found it to be very comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed. Matthias was very helpful and we knew he was only a phone call away if we ever needed anything. I would recommend this place to families and groups of friends.

Taste the real Cancun

Great experience! Lovely home and location. Mattias and his lovely wife will make sure your every need is met. Expect a quick reply to emails and they live about 5 minutes away. If you fly in and are going to be picked up by someone you will need to know to turn left after leaving the baggage area and go through...I'll call it a gate. They don't allow anyone to wait outside the doors. If you meet at Starbucks you stay inside the terminal and go toward the ticketing area (to the left if you're facing the exit doors). There is an additional charge for air conditioning. We didn't need it in March but nice to know it's there if you need it. There is a Walmart and a Costco in the area. We enjoyed the VW we rented even though it didn't have a/c, radio, or cigarette lighter for our GPS. We felt like a local driving around with local plates. Chichen Itza is very nice but you are not allowed to climb it anymore so we went to Ek Balam which we thoroughly enjoyed. All the people we met were so helpful so come and enjoy...Don't happy.

Excellent Stay

Very cool and great host!!! This was our first experience renting privately and I can best sum up my stay in Cancun with Mattias by saying "I extended my stay in his apartment by an additional four night" for a total of 11 nights. Mattias and his wife have been great.Very quick response to email.Any small things things that came up he handled quickly. He described his place exactly as it is...very cool and a steal for the price. But what he did not say that i can verify is that the block the property is located on is great. Very nice homes and nice people. Also there are (Walmart, laundry mat there is a gym around the corner near the Oxox which is like a 7-11 in the USa , movie theater, internet cafe/long distance calling store around the corner.. And places to eat) ..The place is located in a middle class neighborhood on the fringe of the middle to upper middle class downtown area..near service areas where you find stores,, and everyday working people of area..and very very nice and helpful neighbors. To be completely straight forward...what you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. My girlfriend and I stayed and I would return. If your comfortable in the city and want a more everyday life experience a great apartment ..and still be able to get to the tourist areas...This is a great option. I would also say ...we rented a car..made getting around easy and helped. Make sure you have cell phone or an exact meeting place and time like the airport customs area or a specific hotel lobby. We got off the plane with no cell phone and had to find an internet store to email Mattias to meet.Nothing to do with Mattias he provided the address; This has been great and the experience we were looking for.
