Firenze Due is one of the historical Florentine palazzos. It has a superb location right in the heart of Florence, just a few steps from Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. It is right in the the center, yet it seems to be in a quiiet world of its own, on a lovely side street with many local restaurants and bars. Its origins date back to the 12th Century, but its present form is mainly derived from the 17th Century renovation by the Marchese Anton Maria Bartolommei and designed by architect Ferdinando Tacca who also signed the stunning entrance. Superb location 100 meters to Ponte Vecchio and 600 meters to the Duomo on a pedestrian street.
Inside, up on the fourth floor is the fabulous terraced Firenze Due Penthouse which has been decorated to the highest standards in a trendy contemporary style by the internationally known interior designer Ilaria Miani.
On arriving at the Palazzo, one immediately enters into a grand neoclassical hall with its original columns and statues. A beautiful vaulted staircase leads to the upper floors, but for the less energetic there is also a newly installed mirror lined elevator! Ilaria Miani has designed and decorated a number of gorgeous farmhouses in Southern Tuscany and Firenze Due Penthouse is her most recent creation.
For the lofty dining room at the top floor Ilaria Miani did a radical restoration of all the superstructures, featuring partitions, false ceilings, and layers of paint to highlight the original structure made of bricks and pillars. From the sofa you have views from S.Stefano church through the blooming terrace, and on the opposite you can see the tower of Palazzo Vecchio.
