An eighteenth century Tuscan farmhouse in a delightful little valley along the historic Via Francigena (a Middle Age path for pilgrims from England, Germany and France heading to Rome ), surrounded by 14 hectares of privately owned vineyeards, olive trees and woods that ensure utter privacy and tranquillity – this is Vallebuia, just 3.5 kilometres from the historic centre of San Gimignano.
The farmhouse is constructed along traditional lines of stone embellished by barrel vaults in brick which were restored in 2011 and 2012 using recovered traditional materials such as terracotta and local stone, and ancient techniques like slaked lime fully-coloured plaster. And as well as this incomparable beauty, there is also a really comfortable and healthy environment. Despite the rigorously traditional restoration, the farmhouse still has every comfort, including air-conditioned rooms, maxi-screen TV, big fridge, as well as top quality table and kitchen equipment.
A big infinity pool measuring 14m x 7m faces directly onto the vineyards. Opposite the house there is a separate apartment created from a farm outbuilding, and between the two buildings there is a large area with a big table for alfresco lunches and dinners.
Vallebuia is also a certified organic farm, and guests can try its products: red and white wine, and extra-virgin olive oil.
The house is around 400 m² and has been elegantly appointed with elegant period furniture and fittings, without losing its local country house feel.
There are two suites and two bedrooms on the first floor which are all extremely comfortable, with ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning and free internet. They can accommodate eight people. The ground floor has generous common areas comprising a large lounge with a stone fireplace, a dining room with a large panoramic window on each side, a TV room with a 60” 3D television and stereo equipment, a large gourmet kitchen, and another bathroom.
Opposite the house, above the cellar, a building where farm work used to take place has been transformed into a delightful two-person apartment. It is completely separate and comprises a double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room with dining table and fireplace.
